  • How did I make it to 2023 before hearing this gorgeous song?!
Dedicated to all those out there who give their all to and for their love - who dance the dance each day, until they dance no more . . .
Welcome to my channel, where I like to present my instrumental cover arrangements of popular songs for intermediate or medium level solo piano. The camera is positioned to give the best view of my hands so it can serve somewhat as a tutorial. I am playing a Yamaha P515 digital piano.

Brilliant cover! Great balance between adapting the guitar part to piano but still staying true to the sound of the original song!

Sorry, no. I’m playing by ear and haven’t transcribed this arrangement yet.

Wow, Greg! This is an extremely beautiful arrangement and performance. I love how the lower range "dances" with the upper range throughout the piece; each with their own melodies and harmonies, echoing one another, embracing, then letting go - until they dance no more. The last chord is gorgeous.

      Thank you Ivy! ☺
You paint a beautiful picture with your description. I'd never thought about it like that. You write quite poetically; your messages are a joy to read - so much colour and harmony. I imagine you're a primary or early secondary school teacher with a love of English and the arts.
You might have noticed I favour the lower register when I'm playing. In fact, I rarely use the top 3 octaves of the piano. It's partly because I really love the rich, earthy quality of the lower tones, as well I'm trying where possible to play at the pitch of the original parts - bass, vocal, accompaniment. I guess that's one of the things that set my arrangements apart from others.
The last chord I think is a minor 9th. There are not so many opportunities to use it, but in this song, it just seemed to work so well as a final chord to tie together that oh so beautiful sequence in the intro and outro comprising Em > Cmaj7 > Dsus4.

@@gregtricker-reissig7301 Thank you always for your kind words, Greg. I love reading your messages too. They are always thoughtful, kind, and encouraging - not just with me but everyone you interact with. You are such a good listener, and you truly understand that kindness matters. You are such a beautiful person. I love how you "hear" my voice, and connect to what I am expressing. You often add to, and complete my thoughts. Love that! You are a great communicator with words, and music! I imagine you are a wonderful poet too. You definitely play the piano "poetically." I love everything about your channel: the tenor/alto range of the melodies; creative intros, interludes, and outros; warm tone of your piano; professional recording quality; song choices; your musicality. Makes for a really beautiful playlist of your covers; each song bridges so beautifully from one to the next; it's a beautiful, continuous, musical moment. I call it my "Greg concert." I keep thinking, someone needs to offer you a recording contract like they did for George Winston. You are my favorite music channel, not just covers, but all music. Thank you for the extra information about the final chord on this performance. It's the dissonance in the chord that I love; especially for this piece. For me, the harmonies of the major 7ths symbolize the beauty of togetherness whereas the dissonance represents the parting of ways; the finality of the dance. It's a bittersweet moment, and the perfect ending to a beautiful song. Truly captures the emotion of the piece.

Thank you for your lovely words, as always.
It seems you really "get" what I'm about with my music; our listening pleasures appear to be quite similar.
Thank you for your poetic interpretation of my arrangements. You are truly the wordsmith 🤗🎶🎹🧡

@@gregtricker-reissig7301 You're welcome, Greg. It's just so lovely for me to meet someone so inherently kind and musically gifted. Your analysis of my vocation is correct. Good call on that one! My love of writing began at age 4 when I wrote my first song with lyrics; it's what you might expect from a 4-year-old, but I remember it like it was yesterday; very impactful for me. From there, I wrote poetry throughout my childhood and teenage years until I enrolled in music school at age 18. Like you, I studied the piano through the intermediate level, but never explored my love of popular music as you do, but would love to. When I decided to become a teacher, much of that love for music was put on hold. You have reignited my passion for music, and your kind words about my writing has got me thinking that picking up my poetry pen might be a good idea too. You are very inspiring! I can't thank you enough for that. I'm excited about this next chapter. As for the kindness aspect, I've always taught my students that kindness is the most important lesson we learn in life; hence the name of my channel. It's been my life's work. My hope is to one day film for my channel showcasing acts of kindness from around the world - kindness to self, kindness to others, kindness to animals, and kindness to Earth. Your musical influence is now inspiring me to include music and poetry as part of that journey. Music and words are very powerful. I love you with a heart of gratitude. Keep being beautiful you! You are exactly what the world needs. 🥰🤗🎹🎵🎶

That's really lovely, Ivy. I can't think of many other more virtuous, inspiring or impactful pastimes than promoting and practicing kindness. Your students are indeed very lucky to have spent time with you to guide them during their formative years. And I can imagine just how seriously you have taken that responsibility. It seems to me like the world needs more Ivys with such devotion as leaves an indelible imprint of kindness in the minds and hearts of our children.
I'm looking forward to when you tell me your channel is up, and I'm looking forward to reading your poetry. 🎶🎹🤗🧡
