Rolled oats mixed with can of fish catfood and a bit of water - not too much - works a treat. Have to have a bucket with a tight lid for transporting. Plus a big spoon for flicking it into the water. Works fine on sandy area also. Or just a can of fish cat food with 2 small punctures in the can. Easy as bro.

great tip! i used to use catfood and bread that was great for piper
I feel you man! Always sucks to loose a fish, especially when you're so close to seeing what it was.
would have been more painful if that was the only action i got after a few hours (happened b4 too!)
Great 🙂🙂🙂🙂
cheers
Nice 😊 again!!!!🎉🎉🥳🥳🤠💪💪💪🤙🤙🤙💯💯💯👌👍🎣
Thanks again!
Good stuff peter I need to do another rock session
cheers man haha i need a real rock session haha
Nice rock session. Could you share your rig as well?
tbh there's nothing much to share expect its main line attached with leader and a single hook (that easy!)
@@BasicFishingNZ Wow!! not even a little sinker!! Nice, I will try next time, thanks!!
well if the current is strong and there is no kelp i would then use a sinker. the no sinker reason is because of the weed line, hate getting snagged
bigger baits, bigger hooks, bigger fish.
at some stage i'll get to that
You should do a fishing session at Shelly beach wharf Auckland
been there a few times. got a video of it actually
You thinking of trying whatipu again? Probably better in another month or so though.
not sure tbh at some stage i would go back
Where is this man? I’m from Auckland just picked up fishing myself so keen to get out there.
up Tāwharanui
How long is the walk@@BasicFishingNZ
never timed my walks but it was a while. maybe 40minutes? give or take
Did you use the hiwihiwi as bait? How did it go?
na that was eaten lol
@@BasicFishingNZ was it good? How do you prepare it? I would definitely watching a basic cooking video :)
it was just thrown in a spicy stew basically speaking nothing really special
@@BasicFishingNZ would you recommend it? Do you like it more than kahawai?
honestly if theres one fish i would NOT recommend its red cod
No current,no wash,flat as,sun light.small baits.small hooks.
