Realize that it was 1977 ! The hardware of this console seems really advanced, in my opinion. PS: 2:16 The “hello” loop was also my first coding experience (on Amstrad CPC)
There was a Bally Midway cabinet arcade PC board inside the Astrocade. That's why they were so prone to overheating when placed on a carpet. As far as hardware, the Astrocade was leaps and bounds ahead of its competition.
a cool look at a much-overlooked system! I remember playing it for years in the corner of a Montgomery Wards store, I think at some point they just forgot to take down the display. but the controller had its advantages.
I had one.. Loved it.. Hopefully gonna buy another as I'm reliving my childhood wanna sell it 😁

This is really cool, but I would like to have seen the game titles before each clip.
I never saw one of these at stores when i was a kid. The only thing i heard was that they are prone to overheating.
I cannot confirm this.

Nice video - but why not include the names of the games?
I still have mine and I have most of the games too
Some wierd stuff on that - cool .
I'm surprised at some of them. A lot of these are home brew?
Nope, nearly all of them are commercial games.
Surely I'm not the only one to immediately skip the first 30 seconds of every video to avoid that fucking horrendous noise.
Probably, because I get more comments about my intro and people's love for it than anything else. It's the main reason I've never changed it.
@@TheLairdsLair ok. To me its absolutely horrendous.. and I'm glad you start straight off with it. Makes it easy to avoid ;)
I love the intro!
