Thanks for posting these videos! I just purchased a BOND machine from a thrift store and everything was there... except for the instructions. These videos are so incredibly helpful and I can't wait to start making my first project!
Cheryl thank you so much for posting these videos. I bought my bond machine over 20 years ago when my daughter was 4 years old. Bought it to knit outfits for her, now I have grandchildren and want to knit outfits for my grandchildren. However, I can't find the video that came with the machine. Your videos are wonderful...Thank you again for these youtube videos!!
My mum has just given me her bond classic. I’m trying to get my head around it all so thanks for this video. Do you have a modern day pattern for a jumper? I’m struggling to find an easy modern machine pattern. Any suggestions?
I don't, though with some study you can learn to adapt hand-knit patterns to the machine, or simply create your own patterns with a resource like the book SWEATER 101. If you're on Facebook there are a number of machine knitting groups where you might find help.
Cheryl, your inspiration video featuring your Kaffe Fassett pieces has me looking to purchase a Bond Knitter. What is the model you are using? I see the Ultimate and Incredible Knitting Machines on eBay, but am interested in the older machines.
I'm using the old, blue, original BOND sold in the United States in the 1980s. The ISM and USM machines are simply not as well made. If you can find an intact KnitSmart, that's also a very good model . . . from the early 90s. I hope you'll come to cherylbrunette.com and join my email newsletter group if you haven't done so already. That's where I'm in closest touch with knitters.
Cheryl, Im just looking at all the videos, I'm actually awaiting delivery of my Bond like you to many yarn not enough time, so I can now really make things happen, I was thinking for the table what about If I can get an ironing board and put a sturdy wood top do you think that would work? I have many other surfaces but they are in kitchen area. I think It could work. I love your videos and I whish I could go to your school thank you for your great illustration.
I have heard of people using ironing boards boards clamped on them before but I never tried it myself. I think it would depend on how sturdy the construction was of the ironing board, but it certainly would be handy to be able to fold it up when you needed to. I don't have the school anymore so I'm grateful to be able to teach through TH-cam. Thank you for commenting and watching and you are most welcome.
WIth my bond, I use a folding music stand that's designed for a large keyboard. The machine itself is clamped to a long piece of lumber, and I just set the whole thing on top of the music stand. Never causes me any problems!
I regret purchasing this machine, something always goes wrong with it. Reselling it and hoping I can get something different. :( The video instructions were helpful though.
I'm sorry to hear you've had such frustration with the machine. There were later versions of it/ cheaper manufacturing, that had some problems with the carriages. I tried one and couldn't get it to do anything. It was defective. That may not be the problem with yours. There were a number of good versions and I think only one bad one.
Thanks Cheryl! Because I hand knit quite a lot, but I would like to start knitting with the machine. No, I have not joined yet, but I will do so now. Thank you! Have a great day...

Sounds like a great solution.
I got a table for mine for 102.00 and check on keyboard and was hi, in price, but if you already got one great use for that.

Hi Cheryl... Can you convert any hand knit pattern for the knitting machine?
Not ANY pattern, but many of them, especially simple ones, can be converted.

@misssammyg28 Some day Misssammy . . .
what does the half knit position allow you to do?
The sound here is nearly silent then completely disappears. My volume is all the way up.
