Hi Nigel, This is some great review. Its really beautifull kit. I've also watched comparison videos on the SEN NAVY channel and as I wanted some Yamato model for a long time, I've decided to purchase Veryfire deluxe kit. Yesterday courier delivered it and What can I say ... I am really blown away by how many parts and how detailed even smallest resin pieces are. (plane interiors or level of detail on machine guns ... holy ****) Also fact that even hull has riveting is nice touch. It will be quite challenging build, but its worth every penny. Also i dont understand how Veryfire ebay dealer managed to send it into Europe without any costoms strike. But I am not complaining :) Merry Christmas and Happy NewYear for you, all your family, friends and Dottie 🎄🥂
Really great review Nigel. I am gong to add a Yamato kit at some point. The 1/200 is probably to big, but from part 1 this would seem to be ideal. Off to watch part 2 once I’ve cleaned out the dogs water fountain. Cuddles to Dottie.👍
Gfreat review Nigel and glad you linked the Sen Navy buils he is doing that great comparison of all three kits. Having ll three Very Fire is my pick of the three with Border coming in second Tamiya third. Some stunning 3D print stuff in both with Border to my eye having better print parts some of the hand rails are incredible but Veryfire is right up there with it. Musashi is a great kit to! Great time to be a modeller!
Really enjoyed this review Nigel, thank you. What a bargain of a kit and a must for the stash. I would like to get the carrier you reviewed first and I will put this on my wish list for the future. Thanks again.
Dear Nigel, Another ship review, all of which was worth looking at. I took a look at a website and these models are priced very well! With the extras? What a deal!! Nicely presented as ever! Regards, Z
If i was well off , i would buy this kit . It would be the only ship kit i would build but the finesse of detail takes it far , far beyond any ship kit I've seen before . No longer clumpy detail due to moulding constraints of the past . Those kits really are spectacular Nigel . I hope your enjoying having a puppy again . Thanks for the review's. M
One more wonderful kit🤩 I built the old mold Tamiya and it was a great kit, the only setback was that there was no hull plates, (relatively easy fix with spaced masking tape and multiple layers of primer). I really dislike Tamiya new tool with the hull cut in the middle🤮. This RFM Yamato engineering looks very similar to the old Tamiya with great details on the hull, and P.E. is a must on this, well, all ships actually).👋🏻
Thanks for the review, Nigel. I'm not a fan of photo etch, so have gone for the Border models kit because it looks like it makes greater use of 3D printing. Oh, and do you or your viewers know where to obtain a rigging diagram from the Yamato?
Tamiya seem to want you to focus on plastic, any Tamiya upgrade set is either quirky or in steel instead of brass. An upgrade set to low standards of Eduard as an option would still be sub standard. This kit is a real temptation to leave comfort zone, price for that amount of plastic and brass is more than fair.
Extremely impressive kit stash Nigel but I find your quality of your kits are much better than mine. Do you ever worry that you will have the time to finish your kits. I know I will never finish all of mine. I have expressed to my children my wish that my unbuilt kits go to a local VA hospital. 95% of the built kits will go into the trash. But then again at that point of my life, who cares.
Can't find this version on the Tiger Hobbies site, only the Deluxe and the Hell in the Pacific version. Want to place this on pre order or register for stock notification.
yes the Tamiya version is basically junk...........it's totally and utterly annoying, it's much worse than Nigel describes........HA HA..........but if you hate PE and you're really bad at it, avoid like this like the plague...... i can only do PE on tanks, aircraft etc.... but this kills me, mine is 1:500 but it still shows that you've left it off...... i'm a bit ashamed of failing but it should still look very impressive in the diorama......... i might try and put the hull railings on later on........ i can't even cut remove the PE from the sheet without it warping, so i'm really bad at it.............. it is odd that Tamiya screwed this up SO BADLY........because their RC trucks are brilliant.....this is really weird, must be kit from the Twilight Zone.............. yes that Border hull looks dreadful in his video but nothing like as bad as the tamiya...................... great video as always mate; you're the main man............... no point me tackling this without being able to do the PE............ so the key is if you hate PE keep your scale small, but unfortunately it'll still show i'm afraid.

Standard, Advanced and Deluxe versions of Yamato all from Very Fire, wow!
Indeed! The DX kit is on its way for review.

Completely agree. That kit would make a great first ship model for me too.
Another nice review Nigel, looking forward to part 2!
Thanks 👍
Wow, that sure is an amazing kit and incredible price. Brilliant review as always, Nigel 👏
Moore's Law in Yamato plastic model kits here - great review!!!
Went and watched a review of the deluxe kit !!!!!! Wow all the resin and pe !!!!!

@@NigelsModellingBench Sorry, Very Fire🥴

You may regret that.... the PE in the Border kit is awful apparently? I recommend the AOTS book for the Yamato, reviewed here on my channel.

Hi Nigel, looking forward to this build, by the by are you going to be doing any more on the Scharnhorst, good luck with this build.
I am tinkering with Scharnhorst in the background..
Enjoyed that, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Looks an awesome kit when are you starting ?! Love to dottie 🐕💞

Tiger Hobbies don't do pre order afaik? I'll ask Gary to put it up for notification.
which is better nigel, this one or the deluxe kit? i was looking for a good yamato kit with the extras.
Deluxe is the best mate.
A pre Dottie or just keeping her out of the way?
Pre Dottie, part 2 will be with Dottie.
@NigelsModellingBench 👍 look forward to it
Your get yours here link does not lead to an offer on this product.
I'll see what I can do.
