    Clear and simple, not a lot of personal comments which I find distracting. Thank you.

    I really enjoyed your video and learned a lot about dividing Catteleyas which I have been a bit scared to attempt. And I also enjoyed seeing all your orchids so full of blooms. Thanks

    THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH for this information...I moved from Florida to Virginia Beach recently and need to repot many of the orchids that I brought with me. I have had to keep them around the rim of my jetted bathtub, since it is too cold here to keep them outside. I got so much good information from you, and look forward to repotting my orchids soon, AND to hoping that they will enjoy living in VA Beach in summer. I will continue to follow your good videos.

    Thank you for the advice! I finally got brave enough to attempt re-potting, then wondered if I could divide some of them, and yes I can :-) I have the same fuschia/yellow orchid in the background!

    Oh, how I miss living where people don't look at me like I have three heads when I say the word "root" the way you do. I'm a long-time Minnesotan, and after eleven years of living in New Orleans, I still have kept my "Minnesoooodah accent." I get teased so much, and I've been asked if I'm from a different country due to my strong accent! But, despite the fact that I can grow some of my orchids outdoors year-round, I still have not found an orchid nursery that has the selection or quality that Orchids, Ltd. has, and while I admit that I do like wearing shorts in January (like I am now, but got teased, because they say "Vikings" on them, and well, it's all Saints all the time, here) I do really miss being able to drive to Plymouth and drop a (couple) hundred dollars to buy some (too many!) orchids! I guess I shouldn't rule it out, it's just that it's an 18-hour drive now, rather than 20 minutes like before. Great video, just as I expected it to be when I saw the source.

    Thank you for sharing this information which I will use. Question, the first orchid that you showed is the one that I first procured. Is there anyway to divide it?

  • @alohaart5295
    @alohaart5295 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    We have a chocolate orchid, like the yellow Likasky Eromatico shown in your tutorial, with many pods I would like to divide. We bought another one with only one pod. Since you suggest 3 new growths how did the growers start with only one pod?

    what happens if the first one does start to put out new plants? I have 3 of the first type that are about three years old. One of them has three new spots that are putting on leaves separate from the original plant. I wish I knew how to send a picture here.

    Really useful video, thanks - BUT please don’t promote the use of any peat based products - peat needs to be kept in the ground!

    Will you do a video on "pruning" cattleya seedlings that make multiple leads (so take longer to bloom) so they bloom sooner
    And also will you make a video on front-bulbing? (As in growing an orchid out of a virus?)
    I know there's no cure for virus, but Jeff Bradley mentions (in one of the videos from odoms) front bulbing and says that the viral load, if you will, on front bulbed orchids is way less.

    I have a single orchid plant that cant be divided its almost ten inches across and Im running out of room for it, how large can it grow? it has not flowered in a year

    • @OrchidWebTV
      @OrchidWebTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which variety of orchid do you have? If it is a monopodial grower (like Phalaenopsis) you can simply trim the roots to keep the plant in the same size container. Very few need pots larger than 10 inches when they are mature.

    • @tammyowens7776
      @tammyowens7776 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OrchidWebTV I honestly dont know, But Im assuming its the kind that get sold in home depo and lowes all the time, or in grocery stores here in PA. my daughter gave it to me because it looked alike it was dying, I brought it home and took it out of the glass [air free ] pot it was in, trimmed all the dead roots, and repotted it with fresh orchid 'soil' in a proper air flow container, then gave it proper light. now its gigantic, lol but no flower.
