Very very nice car.... I'm building a 383 stroker motor with a full roller cam and lifters set up. Brodix aluminum heads... I was going to run a Wiend team G open plenum intake but I think ill look into a Brodix intake... I like to have the intake port matched to the heads. The air and fuel flows faster....I'm also going with the noisy timing gears.... I'm going to run a holly demon carb and I'm considering a NOS plate with a 150 shot.... I'm just building the engine now and I'm looking for a Vega to put it in but it's hard to find one that I can afford.... They are all either in to bad of shape or in such good shape that I cant afford it.... I might end up putting it in a old Chevy S10 pick-up... But you definitely have a very nice well built car....
Im running a 15:1 compression 428 stroker on e85, quick fuel 850 carb. A lot of people told me I was crazy, but I have no issues...no detonation...no pinging. Runs better than it did on race fuel. True, it is less octane than most race gas, but people dont take into account that it burn much much cooler...therefore reducing the chance for detonation or pre-igniting. If you research, people over seas have been running more compression than that for a while now with it. Some even adding a blower
I remember back in the day when it wasn't uncommon to actually see cars like this on the street unlike today where guys put those annoying noise makers on the end of the exaust of their cars and think they have a hot rod,I miss the old days of hot rodding.
E85 is 15% gas and 85% alcohol have you ever noticed sprint cars run methanol and some are running ethanol to help boost e85 sales it works many racers use it
Very nice car. I saw it in Coleman's Machine shop. I cant wait to see it on the street. Would like to see it run at Eddyville some day, I heard your Vega wagon was pretty quick. Is this one faster?
I see both sides im confused on how it doesnt detonate like a siv on e85 I thought the overall octane was 85? But now that you mentioned it has alcohol in it its got me puzzled hmmmmmm
@truesouthernpride why can't you run e85 with 13.5? Mine is 13.5 also, runs great. Maybe you should do more studying before you open your mouth and look stupid. We've built big blocks that are 14 to 1 and higher and run e85 straight from the gas station...I think your info is a little off. To the OP, great looking car!!
The problem with pump e85 is you need to test each batch for what it actually is your running. Absolutely no way can you tune the car to multiple mixtures of different fuels at various months of the yr. The Sunoco can of e85 is the nasty but expensive for street. KN is not what they claim...….oiled foam pre filter or go back to paper. KN is a few hp more by reducing filtering 50%. That's no trade off in my book
i wouldnt want to do it. i dont like any ethanol in my motor i like the ethanol free gas. E85 is 85% ethanol. most motors run better on non ethanol gas, but it also has to do with how you have your motor built.
Nice. I wish they made them today. To hell with the haters.

+marc dewey I'm part of that noise making generation. I hate it so much so I'm trying to keep the hotrods alive in Washington with my V8 '84 Ranger
That’s a beautiful car! Brings back memories of the 70s!
you can run 15:1 on e85 it has a 105 octane rating and has a lower flash point making it less prone to detonation.
I love ur car !!
9yrs ago explains the 2$ a gallon fuel. Thanks for the video. It would be a blast to drive.
I just filled up paid 2.09 a gallon.
@@cuzz63
Must not be from Ohio. It just came down to 2.45.
beautiful car.
That’s so really nice fast car
sweet car man
I heard Jay Leno say E85 is very corrosive.
Nice ride!
@MrBlm1984 just got the wheelie bars on it this weekend. doing a lot more stuff to it this comming year like your project vega.
Nice ride almost done mine
actually i think the compression could be a little more like 13.5. runs great the alcohol is great for compression.
Wow..
nice car man
nice car
2019...where is this car now? Whats been done to it?
@MrTeslalives maybe faster. it has a turbo 3 speed vs a powerglide in the wagon, and bigger tires.
Why use 2x PCV lines?
there is no place to take in air that way.
without proper crankcase ventilation problems could emerge.
They connect to the headers for pcv
Rich Martin I know, but there isn't a inlet breather.
All it's doing is creating a vacuum in the engine without an inlet.
How hard was it or what did you have to do to change it over to E85 Fuel.
E85 is 15% gas and 85% alcohol have you ever noticed sprint cars run methanol and some are running ethanol to help boost e85 sales it works many racers use it
WTF Rich, what do you do for a living? This car and 2 badass drum kits??
Very nice car. I saw it in Coleman's Machine shop. I cant wait to see it on the street. Would like to see it run at Eddyville some day, I heard your Vega wagon was pretty quick. Is this one faster?
^ iowa guy?
What kind of hp
Bad Ass!!
@nhrapro840 how much do these go for? im thinking of getting one
I need headers, where did you get yours
Mark Roberts Stahl headers that were cut and custom welded
sweeeeeeeeeeeet
nice man i also have a 72 and i have a 383 mopar going into that. but its not gonna be done for a few years
What size of motor is it , i want to do a 400 small block or is it to small
if a motor is any higher than 10:1 compression i have to 100+ octane but you cant run e85 octane gas with 13.5:1 comp. but idk anything about alcohol.
You're an idiot.
I see both sides im confused on how it doesnt detonate like a siv on e85 I thought the overall octane was 85? But now that you mentioned it has alcohol in it its got me puzzled hmmmmmm
E85 is 85% Alcohol...its true octane is like 106 i think.
@truesouthernpride why can't you run e85 with 13.5? Mine is 13.5 also, runs great. Maybe you should do more studying before you open your mouth and look stupid. how does e85 gas have a 105 octane? i know how octane works the more octane the easier it burns the lower octane the harder it is to burn.
Lower octane gas burns faster
the higher the octane, the slower the burn
You're an idiot.

there is no possible way you can have 13:1 compression with e85 gas.
