- In today’s video, I visit a M.A.C makeup counter to get a makeover. This is my first time getting my makeup done at a department store. However, I have had my makeup done by other professional makeup artists in the past and I actually love the whole experience. I think it’s a great way to learn new tips and tricks whilst seeing yourself in a different style of makeup you might not normally do yourself.

This is more of a true representation of what makeup looks like without the right lighting, filters etc...
I used to work at MAC and the lights are extremely misleading. The makeup looks beautiful.
You worked at mac..what was your job there?
I second this, when an employee at MAC was trying to color match my foundation we walked outside of the store to get some natural light because the store lights kept making me look yellow!

I loved this look! I like how it really accented your beautiful Asian features. Idk if that sounds weird but I thought you looked incredible, like a model!
The people saying it’s cakey are using the wrong adjective. She’s definitely not cakey at all, that foundation is quite light actually. It is however a full on glamour look. And there’s nothing wrong with that. It doesn’t suit everyone’s taste but it’s makeup, it’s fine. I think Tina looks beautiful, it’s obviously not an everyday look but the makeup artist used colors that really suited Tina’s skin tone. My one “criticism” would be less bronzer on the skin. Besides that, I loved this classic glam look!

IDK gurl. If it looks like I can scrape it off yer face with a spoon, I call it cakey. The product is sitting on her face vs seamlessly looking like it is her skin. I've seen a fair share of full coverage, long lasting, wedding make up and it didn't look like that.

Some of y'all some real haters. I think her friend did a nice job and gave her a look that she wouldn't normally do on herself. Her face doesn't look "cakey" as some of you described. Y'all forget that Tina has a lighting setup at home. The artificial indoor lighting will harshen and highlight the texture of ANYONE'S skin. It's not cakey.
Furthermore, everyone is saying they "don't like western makeup" or the western style. Guess what?? It's just for fun. Tina is doing something fun and out of the ordinary. I think it suits her well. Her makeup style in this video is very similar to CL from 2ne1 (a Korean music artist). Is this an everyday look? For some, maybe. But it's just supposed to be a fun video. Y'all too serious about it. Let her live.

Even Wayne Goss said he puts a shyt ton of foundation when he records because of camera and lighting set up. I'm sorry, but when us, the normal people get our make up done in a store, like Sephora, the girl that work there is not a MUA and most the time she can not even choose the right shade of concealer or fondation...a make up like yours is barely possible...

I agree. I think it is an interesting concept since a lot of the counters have different aesthetics they promote. I'd like to see contrasting counters like Burberry, Urban Decay, Inglot, and Chanel. That'd be really interesting since those brands have such different viewpoints from each other.

As a mac artist in the North Texas region, this was fun to watch. I actually just tried the entire waterweight complexion line and it is the absolute best! Superb video, thanks for sharing.

y’all are the biggest haters. the makeup looks great. it looks very polished and this is the kind of makeup that’s done for special occasions. I think it would be nice of Tina showed the makeup under her own lighting instead of the harsh department store lights. That would make it look more “accurate” because that’s the lightening we’re used to.
I love this look on you Tina! It's not an everyday look but like you mentioned it's the perfect glam makeup look. I can totally see you rocking this during holiday or at special events. The artist did a lovely job at accentuating your beautiful Asian eyes and keeping her lines crisp with the brows, liner and lips!

Wow! What a different look for you. Beautiful as always. I agree with some of the previous posters, that it looks very heavy. However, can you imagine how hard it must be to find that perfect look for someone on the spot. Or how nervous you'd be if you got to do Tinas makeup, on camera, posted on TH-cam for thousands to see? Yikes!
It also depends on the look your trying to achieve. Was that considered day wear, night wear, special occasion, or photo op?

While not your usual makeup look, I think you look beautiful. I think the young lady doing your makeup chose really complimentary shades and her application was perfect. Not an everyday look but a night out on the town or special evening occasion, this was perfect. It is fun to step out of our comfort zone sometimes. Your nails are gorgeous.

Great video, you're gorgeous as always Tina! I've never had a good makeover at Mac (I've had about 4/5 over a decade). They always use a foundation that's way too dark and cake it on but your friend did a great job :) I would love to see you get your makeup done at different counters!

It's the makeup artist's job at the counter to use as many products as humanly possible on the client, in order to sell the largest amount of products afterwards. If you use 15 products at once, you're more likely to convince the client to buy 10 of them.

Hey Tina, I've been following your videos for some time now. I love your videos and your personality! You make make-up products seem so much more approachable and fun. I'm 22 and have only started learning how to apply makeup. And I'm intimidated by the makeup counters in stores. I would love to continue seeing you get makeovers over different counters! Tbh i expected her to do a more unique look rather than a simple gold and brown smokey eye.. I'm sure she's talented but the liner didn't compliment Tina's eye shape and the makeup wasn't too special in my opinion.

I’m glad someone said it. The eyeliner was terrible. It made Tina’s eyes too narrow-looking. There’s a special technique to doing winged liner on asian eyes and this makeup artist didn’t know it.

Triveni Arora I’m a makeup artist and to be honest the most common makeup request is a brown/gold Smokey eye, you can’t really go wrong with that. Also the eyeliner was really nice I don’t know what you’re complaining about. If she’d done a more ‘unique’ look as you say - there would be someone in the comments saying ‘it’s too much, she should have stuck to something more simple’ lucky this wasn’t your makeup ey. If you go in to Mac you can ask for something more unique but it was impossible for this artist to please everyone on TH-cam at the same time

i think you look way better when you do it on your own, it looks a bit cakey and kinda off..? idk if it's just the lights and the camera but you usually look damn smooth and stunning. still, it was a good experience and no one can apply your make up like you yourself do

I think you have to pay because it's a "makeover"
the way MAC works is that you get a full face makeover with a $50 product purchase. so you buy $50 worth of makeup and then they’ll do your makeover. my sister used to do it for her proms in highschool and would usually buy the lashes, lipstick, and highlighter she wanted them to use so she could keep them on her for touch ups!
Usually makeup counter charge appointment fees but those fees are fully redeemable for your purchase. I just got makeover at CHANEL for 100 for my birthday and I pay a lil extra and bought 3 products home. So it’s like u got free makeover
Very subtle and classy makeup. Usually the Mac professionals makeup are a bit loud. But this one’s awesome. 💕💕

Honestly i don't trust make up artists to do my make up since most of them don't have a lot of experience with asian eyes and besides that all the artists i went to screwed up my make up so i'll never let anyone touch my face again😂 i think if you have experience with make up, nobody will do your make up as good as yourself since you know your own features best (and also your style)
