- I regret not listening to this any time sooner this was just a amazing experience. It is added to my list of albums that make me want to lose my memory just to hear again. Thank you for the people that suggested it I will upload Side 2 soon. Like and subscribe if you enjoyed and thanks for watching!!!
There is nothing to dislike about a young mans journey with Pink Floyd ! Love this!! Keep it going!!
First let me thank you FiendJony, your reaction made my heart smile. I first heard this album in 1973, I was 20, I'm now 68 and still get goose bumps listening to it. Peace and Love
dperk421 it felt so weird those lyrics made me feel a real sensation I felt like I was in a crowd of people just getting called out and love that no matter who you are we can all relate to these lyrics
Know what? This album is part of your life now. You might not listen to this again for years, but one day you will and the emotions will flow back through you with interest.
Pink Floyd's music has this eerie ability to bring emotions and thoughts up from the subconscious. These will be as different to each person as their fingerprints. For instance, I noticed you kept circling back to your education. My guess is that it not only consumes a lot of your time, but, more significantly, it has been weighing on your mind. Only you can answer what the nature of that is, but it is a clue that maybe something needs to be resolved.
Great reaction! Looking forward to side B!
Thank You and this album is a masterpiece even if I won’t listen to the album for years since I run my playlist on shuffle Everytime I hear a song from the album I will always think of this first time hearing a album I really like will always be memorable especially at a young age. And wow u really pay attention to detail cuz that’s exactly what it did to me and it has been weighing a lot on my mind it really made me think. No matter who you are in this world those lyrics will touch you and I love it because if this.
I bet he will listen to it again... And again.. And again..
Dude, you always seem to state it perfectly.
I agree. When he got to the Lyrics in time, I felt things that ... yeah I did expect, because it always happens with that song.
Still, the intensity of reactions that song gets from me is astounding, especially after having listened to it again and again over the years.
Some albums demand all our serial concentration...
This is what all Pink Floyd reactions should be like. He's taking the album very seriously yet having fun doing it. Having the lyrics present makes all the difference as most reactors enjoy the music but the message is totally lost on many of them because they're either talking too much, pausing too much or too busy watching themselves on the camera. Well done lad and welcome to the rabbit hole.
My man or my son....at 73 it seems that Time has caught up with me and as the Moody Blues sang- "senior citizens wish they were young"....You are bright, kind, and most important,young....don't fritter and waste anything, especially TIME
Jerry Stohner Word.
this album never leaves you, it only becomes more a part of you as you get older
This album is a masterpiecer from start to finish.
But Time, Time always gets me.
And every single year, it gets me more and more.
One of the songs that I cannot just listen to casually, it hits you straight in the soul.
Masterful writing.
One of the best songs ever made
09:51 - The moment that lyric hits you hard and deep, and you weren't expecting it...
Really the turning point of the entire album.
My 1st date with my wife was seeing Pink Floyd. There’s sooo much more. Enjoy the rabbit hole! Great reactions editing 💪🏻
Every time you revisit the album as a whole it will feel different. The older you get the more it will resonate.
Loving your videos.
The vocalist for Great Gig in the Sky was Clare Torry, who was a session singer in her mid 20's at the time. She was given no direction but just told to improvise something to the backing track - and this is what she came up with on the just the second take! There's a really great interview with Clare in which she talks about it in a lovely down-to-earth way here th-cam.com/video/mIW7xZSlZoM/w-d-xo.html
Looking forward to side 2.
When this album came out, it was an emotional experience. The album was unlike any other, a complete crescendo of messages leading to the final song which summed it all up in a way that left me drained. Watching you makes me feel like you are experiencing much of what I did and that is cool to see. You ability to empathize with things new to you is admirable.
CLASSIC first time listener to Pink Floyd reaction! Love it!
I've watched at least 50 pink floyd reaction videos at this point...and this is by far the best one. Have fun on your journey bro. Just sorry you'll never get to see them live. Subscribed
This was like watching someone have a spiritual awakening! Man, it hit you hard and flicked a switch in your head! I first heard this when I was 11 years old, when it was released. I’m 58 now and I never, ever tire of it. It will become part of the soundtrack of your life, trust me.
Excellent reaction FiendJony! Those songs are suppose to hit you that way. That's why the artist(s) wrote them.
"Time" has been hitting me now for 63 years. Sometimes it hits me the same, other times it's different. That's why
I love Pink Floyd's music. You can listen to this song a hundred times. Pick and instrument to concentrate on. Next
listen, pick something different. Have fun on the second half.
Brian Evenson I love this album I love that I’m listening to it in this generation to as it shows how timeless music can be
@@fiendjony778 Same bro, same
Clare Torry was hired by the band to sing vocals on "Great Gig in the Sky". She was given two instructions. She couldn't use any words, and was instructed to sing as if it would be her final performance. She was paid standard studio scale, I think around a couple hundred "pounds", and didn't even know it made the album until it came out.
Thankfully she eventually got a songwriting credit for it.
The look on your face mate for the first verse of Time was a picture lol this song does this with everyone first time especially. The penny drops, some of the best lyrics ever written
I enjoy watching reaction videos, but usually there's not much there -- people listen to or watch something and say, "Yeah that's cool." But you, sir, are an intelligent and insightful dude, and your reaction to this music is teaching me more about it -- and I've loved it since I first heard it in the late 70s. This really was a pleasure and a delight.
This is why I love reaction videos. Watching you listen to this for the first time is as close as I can get to doing it again. I’m glad to see this resonated with you.. the 2nd part of the album doesn’t disappoint
Isn't it great to see a younger generation finally understand us?
You're tearing up because you are experiencing the genius that is "The Great Gig In The Sky" - Dark Side Of The Moon.
I cry every time I listen to this album, which is quite often. And I'm 52 years old and heard this THOUSANDS OF TIMES!
I cry every time I listen to this or The Wall, it's a profound experience I usually find once or twice a year nowadays (I'm 26)
Oh man cannot wait to end the voyage with you in side B
Ricardo Marrufo 🙏🏾Thank You
So happy to see you actually did this, you're the champ. Nice to see young people digggin on music from an era, which will probably be known as the era of the last of the great musicians. As we move into the digital age, there will never be a group of musicians that existed all in one place like the did in the UK back in the 60's & 70's. It's the digital age now, musicianship is over.
It's easy to think that and to be cynical as you get older but there's many fantastic new artists out there, it's just harder to find it with so much nonsense. Case in point listen to some Jonathan Wilson or some Black Angels.
Probably the best reaction I’ve seen to this album. It hits your soul. I heard someone say you don’t listen to Pink Floyd. You experience them and that is the truth. Hundreds of years from now people will still listen to this album like they do Bach and Mozart
Haven’t watched yet, but based on the comments I am looking forward to it! Thanks for this one!
First take note that "Breathe" is continued with the third verse right after "Time". "Breathe (Reprise)" begins with, "Home, Home Again..." Also I like how in the latter half of "Time", the backing vocals become more prominent. It foreshadows Clare Torry's epic singing on "Great Gig." And Breathe Reprise has that religious undertone that segues so well into Great Gig.
Sooo, combine one of the most acclaimed profound lyricist in rock, with one of the most legendary guitarist of all time, and some of the most haunting innovative jazzy keys/synth you'll ever hear, topped off with vocals that range from velvety-smooth melancholy to heart-wrenching emotion, and a drum that gives it all the extra added drama and power it so richly deserves, and this is what you get... a one of a kind sound that defies all description. Pink Floyd is a journey not quite like anything else in popular music. You're doing it right by going with the full albums. All I can say is, buckle up and enjoy the ride.
flubbert great comment, agree completely
@@briantillman2812 thanks Brian!!
For this album you have to mention Alan Parson's production. Masterful by today's standards, impossible then.
@flubbert
Hey friend! Fancy seeing you here! Just found this lad a little bit ago, totally gonna watch his whole album reactions! Cheers.
@@andyandalex Hey Andy! yes looks like we got another newbie becoming lost in the delectable sauce that is Pink Floyd. Never gets old.✌️
Priceless reaction to "...you missed the starting gun"
I can respect the fact that you looked up the lyrics first. Thats cool man. Love the video!
You are awesome. I love all your Pink Floyd reactions. It's great to see the timeless effect this has. A rite of passage the boomers, gen x, and millennials experienced and gen z are experiencing now.
Btw, keep up those philosophy courses. I am in the sciences, but the best learning I did in college were those philosophy courses.
Stoicism and secular Bhuddhism
What an incredible assessment of time. I’m a little jealous you made this connection at such a young age. At 46, I’m a little mad at myself I’ve known this song for almost 40 years and never made it relative. Nice work, son❤️
Hi, Jony. It's amazing how you absorb the music and try to penetrate into the meaning of the lyrics as well. You are one smart cookie. Enjoying your reactions immensely. This is the music of my generation, had been created long before your were born, but you dig it as well. See how music creates bridges between races, cultures and generations. Looking forward to watching more of your reactions to other wonderful albums of my time. God bless you!
1st time I heard Time as a young adult, it shook me... I had that same reaction. 20 years later Shit STILL hits you like a ton of bricks. Time never ceases to exist
Honestly I think it hits harder when you’re older. The lyrics resonate the more you think about the missed opportunities you’ve had.
@@yuh6832 yup, listening to it now watching my own kids growing older reminiscing about All the things I still haven’t done.. it’s like a clock it never ends, but my time here is coming to an end soon
"I'm feeling everything right now". Yup, you get it my friend.
Great great great reaction dude.
"Time" does start with wake-up alarms!!! Wake-up and start living.
This entire album is a masterpiece made by musicians who had perfected their craft and were able to compress the heavy issues of life into a few lines of pure poetry.
Think you can understand why so many Floyd fans wanted you to do the entire album.
BTW your not alone, DSotM sold over 45,000,000 units and charted for somewhere aver 18 years!
So as someone who grew up listening to Floyd in the 70's I would highly recommend you check out "Echoes - Live at Pompeii" where you can see the guys playing in an empty Roman Amphitheater with no audience.
You see the kit used and exactly who's playing what and who's singing.
DSotM is a journey, Echoes is mind blowing, so buckle up your seat Dorethy, Kansas is about to go bye bye! 😂😂😂
Phil Shorten thanks for the insight and appreciation the suggestion I’ll check it out🙏🏾
Hello !..great moment .!! This musici...IS holy. Magic..yes!!
Welcome to the Floyd family son,its a long journey.enjoy it.great reaction
The great thing about Pink Floyd is they inspire the soul.
Hi dear, i am one of those who watches all your kpop reactions and can I say this ? I AM MORE THAN HAPPY to see you react to Pink Floyd. , seeing you react to that album masterpiece means the world. It really makes my day, no joke. I am SO SO SO SO glad that you enjoyed that album and me too !! I could listen to it again (and its just half!!) the side 2 is also breathtaking you're not ready for that haha ! Pink Floyd knows how to swim through all the senses in the body. They open a light inside ourself we even didn't know it was there.
You must react to the album: Whish you were here. On this album there is a song called ''Shine on you crazy diamond'' that has 9 parts separated in 2 in the album, (1-5 at the beginning and 6-9 at the end of the album) I spent hours doing puzzles (dont ask me why ahaha) only listening to that song. The whole album is fantastic (there is only 5 songs including the super famous one ''wish you were here'' its truely amazing, touching and full of emotion. You body needs that)
Your budding experience of Pink Floyd is a joy to watch! :-)
First time i listened to this was on LSD and it was incredible. its incredible while sober, but when i was blasting tf off, it was just another level. The way it made me feel was just indescribable
Love your reaction when the penny drops that time can run away and leave you behind.
You’re young and, like us all when we were that age, you will feel that life stretches so far ahead that you have loads of time to do what you want to do (or even think about what you want to do). Those of us at the other end of the life cycle can only look back and assess/enjoy/regret what we did with the time that was available to us.
It’s your time now, don’t miss your starting gun. Make the most of every minute and chase your dreams.
Oh, and i forgot, FiendJony, you are officialy my friend in my heart hahaha you have more than my respect.
Really enjoyed your reaction.
Best of luck in your college endeavors. There are 2 classes I took in college outside of my major that I really benefitted from :
Rhetoric - Teaches you the art of persuasion
Judo/Karate - Teaches you mind and body control
There's a lyric early in the album that I'd recommend paying attention to :
"Look around, choose your own ground."
Pink Floyds' founder, Syd Barrett named the band in honor of two elder black 'blues' musicians from North Carolina; PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council. A band that defies being pigeon holed in any singular genre', they are a genre' unto themselves.
Pink Floyd totally unique band.
Thank you for that gem of their name.
Great comment dude
You are very insightful, young friend. Great reaction to this classic album (side 1); I can tell it moved you. It has been around for 47 years. Hope you stay in school.
Once side two comes I'll be there as well
My take on some parts of Side 1, having heard it back when it came out: The scream excerpt at the beginning of Clare's later vocal on "Gig", is a mother giving birth to her child (hence also the heartbeat and "Speak to me"), which then becomes advice she offers to that child during "Breathe". Then when "Breathe Reprise" kicks in later, the child (now an adult) returns to its parental home, there are prayers for the mother in a church, but the mother passes away in "The Great Gig in the Sky".
psbarrow so much of you guys are really making me pay attention to detail for the album after my second listen I sat down and didn’t talk just straight listened on my second listen
psbarrow the details are endless so much connects I love albums that tell a story give u a sense of a journey
LOL. I was around back then too. You're pretty close. Dark Side of the Moon was an entire unit in a college music class I had. The whole album is about various stages of life. It begins with a heartbeat fading in (birth) and ends with it fading out (death). Speak to Me/Breathe - Don't let people tell you how to live your life, but also be empathetic to how others live theirs. All the people talking are people answering the question On the Run - the hustle, bustle, and anxiety of everyday life (also a nod to Rick Wright's fear of flying). Time - how the way we look at the world when we are young affects us later. If you don't pay attention to what is important, you won't realize what you missed until its too late. Breathe (Reprise) - isolating yourself from the hazards of the world. Home is safe. Great Gig in the Sky - vocalizing the different stages of facing your own mortality (surprise, fear, anger, acceptance). Money - the absurdness of wealthy people who look down their noses at others. Us and Them - the dichotomy of life and relationships. Yin and Yang. The talking in the middle are different people describing differences in opinion ("I only hit him once! It was only a difference of opinion" "Good manners don't cost nothing do they?" Any Color You Like - How we are made to believe we have free will and free choice, but really, we don't. Brain Damage - How success can screw a person up mentally. "And if the band your in starts playing a different tune" A homage to Syd Barrett's mental breakdown. Eclipse - From the man who wrote it, "I think it's a very simple statement saying that all the good things life can offer are there for us to grasp, but that the influence of some dark force in our natures prevents us from seizing them". The sun is eclipsed by the moon.
@@fiendjony778 it’s amazing !! the album is about life. They are deeper than you know. Listen often!!! Welcome to the PF world.
Just a beautiful reaction. I was almost tearing up myself. I've probably heard this album hundreds of times. First heard it when I was 14 and I'm nearly 60 now. Seeing it anew through someone elses perspective is very moving.
My favorite reaction so far, seen allot. You had the lyrics (by Roger Waters, the Bassist) with you along the way and that added so much. Side 1 is about life, from brith to death. See you really took it in.. Congratulations.
I'm impressed with you're insight. Your a very smart kid. It is such a pleasant surprise to see someone dig into deep lyrics the way you do. There is a mountain of expression in this (as most) Pink Floyd albums). IMO, they don't try to impose any set agenda on you, its more the experience gets you to think about things you don't normally think about. Things that, typically, deserve more attention then we give them. Like, in this case, things that we struggle with or things that in some other way influence our lives:
1) Purpose,
2) Business,
3) Time,
4) Death,
5) Money,
6) Racial Tension and
7) Madness
And of course, Pink Floyd does it all in such a beautifully artistic way (I often call "ear candy"). Music, I feel, if done right, is the closest we can ever get to a direct soul to soul exchange of ideas and emotion. (example, Great Gig in the Sky. No words needed yet you can feel all the emotions being expressed. BTW, I believe that song was a true outpouring of the spirit. Clare Torry was not associated with the band at all. The band brought in many singers and finally "stumbled" upon Clare Torry who produced that cut in "ONE TAKE". Check out the 5 minute video about the recording of that song: th-cam.com/video/nWZ4ymOvflM/w-d-xo.html
Pink Floyd: the music that keeps giving to generation and generation.
One of the best reaction video I've seen! Thanks for sharing it with us, I really enjoyed watching it.
A very intelligent and mature reaction, stick with school, try your hardest, it wont be long before you realise that school was the time you needed to be your best, after that it's all easy.
When you hear Pink Floyd for the first time, and the lyrics sink in goosebumps are unavoidable. Along with closing your eyes to just enjoying the experience.
The transition from speak to me to breathe never fails to give me chills. Great gig is up there for best songs ever made the entire album is a classic masterpiece.
Enjoy your journey and exploration. I've literally listened to Pink Floyd my entire life. My parents were fans. Unaguma, Dark Side. I have lived it.
You know the line, "you missed the starting gun ? The alarms and clocks ringing at the beginning of the song was intended to be every listeners starting gun. Quit thinking about life... Go live it.
Jason Hahn Yea I had a feeling it meant like a a literal wake up call but at that moment I didn’t anticipate the ringing and with headphones they were really ringing in my head😅.
beautiful reaction! You are suppose to hear this with not just your ears but your mind and soul. I guarantee the next time you listen will be a new and more enlightened experience.
@ the 10 min mark the GOBSMACKED look on this guys face as the experience that is Pink Floyd hits him FULL FORCE is priceless! welcome to my world
I've seen a lot of these reactions, but this is the best. You did it right.
I just found you and I so wish my son would listen to this. He is into underground hip hop in California. I'm so glad that this makes such an impression on you.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this reaction. You have no idea. You don’t hear Pink Floyd. You don’t just listen to Pink Floyd. You FEEL Pink Floyd. Happy discovering 😘
You don't listen to Pink Floyd...you EXPERIENCE them!
"Time" is my all-time favorite reactions to watch. When the lyrics "... and then one day you find ten years have got behind you; no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun" come on, watching the face as the realization of how fleeting time is sets in is priceless. And then the guitar-solo goosebumps kick in.
"Great Gig in the Sky" reactions are a close second.
Great video - great to listen to again and see and feel your reaction. Saw them play this album live in Liverpool UK, in 1972, when I was 18!! Never forgotten! Keep up the great work 👍
i'm talking years of watching reactions.. i like what you are doing.. maybe the most
That's what great music will do, it reaches more than just your ears it can touch your soul.
It is your interpretation that matters to you. Sure it may have meant something very specific to the writer but you should hold on to what it meant to you.
It's great that you realize you never know where opportunities may await you. Best you can do is not be blind to them or let the small stuff distract you.
Good luck young man.
This album is the most universally profound and relative going through the different commonalities we face with the human condition. There's a reason this album holds the world record for longest time an album has been in the Billboard top 200 album sales chart, 950 weeks (just over 18 years) ...because of its universality. Greatest album of all time, I say.
Pink Floyd: kings of the concept album.
I stumbled upon this reaction and want to say it was exquisite. Most reactions to DSotM are from older people (like me at 61) and we look back. Here, you look forward. You too, will look back at this album in 40 years when it means something totally different. Every listen has you pondering the lyrics as you are this whole time. I could not be prouder of our youth when I look and listen to you. _Think_ and you will never go wrong. What a joy you are, dear one.
Jony.. LUV your reaction to this .. I like how you don’t stop and interrupt.. and pick good stops to comment on.. nicely done!! I’m impressed!!
I remember listening to this as an eleven year old kid, at sixty now, I am overjoyed to see that you had the same reaction to the album. I still play it a couple of times a month, I still get goose bumps even now. Side two is incredible too.
9:45 yep that's how everyone reacts when hearing those lyrics lol
Can't act that shit. Brilliant
Excellent reaction, welcome to Floydsville and enjoy your journey
Amazing video friend! Gonna go straight to your side 2 video!! 🔥
I have loved s album since it was new. I still remember where I was and what I was doing the moment I heard it. I’m 58 now and still his is top of the list for me. I loved seeing you becoming emotional. It is nice to see that music like this can be timeless and still appreciated by another generation. You are a nice yon man keep dong these videos.
Life can be divided in before Pink Floyd and after Pink Floyd,
You have nothing ahead of you but potential and success. There is nothing that can hold you back. You are a 1st degree THINKER! Go conquer the world, you deserve it. Well played. Good God I wish there were a few million more of you.
Watching this video was certainly not a waste of time! Keep up the good work!
You MUST watch Live At Pompeii. Essential for anyone's journey down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole.
@10:00 “welcome to the machine.”
This was made in the 70’s.
The only playback devices then was vinyl(records) reel to reel tape players and 8 track.
Yet the start and end of the DSOTM rolls into each other.
Best pink floyd reaction ive ever seen...and ive seen tons
Congratulations to you young sir! Please keep expanding your mind and taking recommendations from the people and not the machine. Youve been blessed at an early age to hear what music really could be.
I was 15 when this album came out.. Hard to believe that was 48 years ago, at least for me.. A true classic!
Love your interpretation. Your wisdom precedes your youth.
You obviously got it. First heard it in '72. A towering musical achievement by very, very talented young lads. It will stand for centuries.
Ur absolutely right..
P. F. MAKES U RETHINK REALITY..
THE BAND IS AWESOME!!
Saw Pink Floyd in 1973 premier this album live! Blew me away, best concert I’ve ever been too and I’ve been to many concerts!
It’s a privilege to get the feelings you’re getting long may it last it’s your soul🎷🎸🎧🥁🎺🎹✨💫👏💥
Awesome! pick and GREAT! reaction.
I saw Roger Waters do this as a live album in Omaha Nebraska in 2007. Amazing. Standing 30 feet from a rock God.
Think i saw that same tour
THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL SEEING A YOUNG MANS SOLE GROW
I won't tell a person to feel. If this album doesn't change your life, you might not be human. Much love, man. Thanks for the vid.
HOLY MOLY! My life was changed by this album when I was 18. What a gift!
I have watched a lot of people react to this album as it says so much and people can take so much out of it. However different their take may be. But I fully believe you have taken the most out of the lyrics and the instrumentals than any other I have watched to react to this. There is a lot to think about, and Pink Floyd does a good job putting on to paper how we all feel trapped in the human condition.
this album stayed on the top charts for close to 15 years.....for a reason. great reaction!
Welcome to the music that has been part of my life for almost fifty years. Enjoy the ride.
Young man you are now a Pink Floyd connaisseur!!!!! Bravo
Man I have yet to watch you react to side b but man was this fun and I do love the way you talk about Time, but...
I feel like we still need a pick up on aisle 3 of your jaw from when these lyrics hit:
“And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.”
