Re the flooring: the card is the base that you make to perfectly fit the room - you build the floor on the card out side the dolls house. When it's done you can just slip it into the house, it's much easier than working in the house itself, especially if you want to do some fancy-schmancy flooring. Also if you need to fix the electrics at any time, you can just take out the floor to get to the tape - you don't have to destroy the floor to do so. Liked and subscribed :-)
Thanks! I was planning on doing it that way when I get to the floor stage. I might go ahead and do the gnome room and finish the floor there, I've collected a bunch of styrofoam cartons to make cobblestones so I'll do those on a removable card.
It's great you are starting from scratch to build exactly what you want - and learning along the way. Interesting about the copper; will be looking forward to seeing what that's about!
When you wire a dollhouse, you male the flooring easily removeable in case you need to fix the wiring at a later time (hence the card or mat board). If you do anything permanent, you can't get to the wiring if there is a short or a wire gets stretched an broken. Then you have to replace all the wired lights on that circuit with those big chunky battery powered lights. Sounds like it was stored somewhere without climate control for a long while (that would make the double sided tape turn to glue). You might be able to get some of the adhesive to loosen with a hair dryer. Then scrape away what you can. You might need to use some alcohol or goo gone to remove any remaining adhesive. Good Luck! Enjoy the process!
Hi. When remodeling an older house when you remove wallpaper and flooring it leaves things lumpy and uneven so you can you make a template of cardboard or poster board and it is easier to build the floor(with tiles or wood) out side the house. That way you have a smooth surface to work on an install. I have also used it on wallpaper.😊
I did that for the walls, I think I did a video about that but I'm not sure. But yes! It's a lot easier than trying to scrape it all off. I actually got really lucky and tried to remove the wallpaper n one room and it came right off with plain water.
A scraper would be better to lift flooring.people stick flooring on card so it's better to change and lay it yours has prob been in for ages paper could have swelled its deffo easier to lay with card

I can’t wait to see what you will do with this dollhouse in the end. New subscriber here!
I haven't had time to work on it lately, but I want to get back to it!
It's a miracle you have time for this. :o) Oh. And my name is Bobbi
Ooh a dollhouse person...Feel free to give me suggestions. I'm going to work on it this weekend.
@@KaraBuntin I wish I could help you more, but I am pretty much miniatures. I'll watch, though.

I leaning toward just taking off the stuff that's really thick and covering up the flooring that I can. I hate scraping things.
