You really made wonderful progress. I am glad that you gave dimensions. I had not thought to ask you but it really does help because I want to make the kitchen pieces you have in your dolls house. I am just not sure how I am going to make it work out because its the Greenleaf Harrison and the room that is the kitchen has 2 bay windows and open space by the stairs. The dimensions will certainly help me decide if all pieces will fit or if I can only do a couple for this particular dolls house. Even if that is the case, I have 2 more that I have not built yet that I am going to be making pieces for as I get them built so I will eventually get to use all the pieces!!! I am so looking forward to your decorating of the dolls house. I cant wait to see what you do!!!
It can really help to do a floor plan of your kitchen before you start. Include the windows and doors in the plan and you'll see exactly how much room you have. :)
I'm so glad that you're back with new videos. Don't know how many times I've rewatch your old ones 😄 I would paint the front doors in one color, perhaps an off-white or a light grey. Something that match most colors.
Greetings' from the United States. I started late in life with my hobby. i have become obsessed with it. I started out with a kit 9 room mansion. Still building that, my husband bought it for me as birthday gift. Te day after is started it. looking for a table on craiglist. I happen to find the actual doll house i wanted already built. To my husbands aggravation I bought it. It was built in the 80's with the typical 80s color palette. The wiring is shot so i too will be stripping it down to bare wood. You videos are helpful. You are the perfect person to follow. You are my new fav person in this world. Keep safe. Continue to do what your are doing. Raymond Torrez Albuquerque New Mexico
Greetings Raymond from Oxford, UK. I'm so glad you're enjoying my videos and hope you pick up lots of tips along the way. I wish you the best of luck with your own build. Take care and stay safe. Happy Miniaturing, Julie. xx
Hi Julie. Thank you sooooo much for sharing these details. I have decided to build my own doll house as I just cannot afford the kits. I guess this project will go on till my end. 😁. To start something like this at 66 is going to be interesting. I wonder if you could give the measurements of the side walls in the attic? I mean I cannot quite work out how the roof lies. Also the door frame measurements. I hope that is not asking too much. ❤❤
I'm so glad you're enjoying this series and glad you're going to have a go at making your own furniture. The side walls in the attic measure 8 1/4 inches and the door is 6 1/4 inches high. Hope that helps.
Great to have you back. I love watching your videos and can only wish I was so talented. I use to belong to a club many years ago but the interest has faded out here in Ontario.
@@JulieWarren seeing your reply today has made my day. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I admire you and know how valueable your time is. As far as starting a club here, the interest is just not around unfortunately. I live in a small community. Watching your videos has inspired me to rekindle my passion. I hope someday to get the opportunity to meet you.
Always a joy to see your name pop up on my video list! I vote for the front doors to all be a neutral tone since they aren't seen. Can't wait to see more as this project moves forward.
Hi Julie, I love this series and have been waiting for updates as it is my favourite! With regard to the opening doors, I have done several methods of decorating. The advantage of doing the corresponding 'square' as you did before is that you can carry each room decor out with curtains to match cushions etc, also it is more realistic especially when looking through the side windows! I have even put pictures and shelves on them next to the windows, as they are technically the 4th wall of the rooms!! ... However, I have also papered the inside of the opening doors the same as the hallways, which ties the whole look of the house together, and in another house just used a cream/off white paper all over. In the end I think it depends what you feel happiest with and what look you want to achieve.
Hello kareny57, when you wallpaper the "4th wall" do you also include the same crown molding and baseboard that you used in the room? If so, do the mitered ends really join? Thanks!
@@JulieWarren I don't actually put mitred mouldings inside the opening doors, I usually just leave them papered but I have also used strips of white card on ocassion to simulate the effect of mouldings as that is a lot easier but still gives the impression of the rooms being finished and separates each one if you know what I mean :-)
I wallpaper the inside door pieces with a strip of white paint in between each one, I put curtains up as well. I think it looks nicer than leaving such a large area blank.
Maybe the center of the door should be neutral like where the hall would be. I think I'd leave the sides connecting to the rooms and add the molding to the top and bottom of the square so that it looks like the room continues if you get what I'm saying?

Thank you Sheila. I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos. It's a shame it's not as popular there anymore - could you start up another club perhaps?

I wondered about the mitre joins too. My doors aren't quite square, so that might not work.
Thank you so much, I'm glad you're enjoying this series. Thank you for the suggestions. I do like the idea of hanging pictures on the opening wall. :)

Great job , but can you tell me what is the thickness of wood
The dolls house walls are 9mm (3/8 inch) thick. :)

Thanks Polly, I think I will be putting curtains up too. :)

That's what I was thinking, too.
Yes, thanks, I see what you mean. :)

@@JulieWarren OK
My doors are just all one colour , I figure the fourth wall can be a contrast wall :)
Yes, I like having the doors as a contrast wall. :)
Ik ben Spaans, ik versta geen Engels, ik zie je video's. Kunt u mij de afmetingen van het huis vertellen?
Het is 32 centimeter breed x 15 centimeter diep en 36 centimeter hoog
I vote for one neutral wall
