- Wallpaper seems easy enough until it isn't! However, once you finally make your selection you will want to place it in the dollhouse perfectly. This video gives tips on picking the right scale and glueing in your paper.

See you there!
I make a template of each wall… make sure it fits correctly. Then I trace that onto card stock or poster board. Make sure it fits. Then I glue the wallpaper to that and then install it on the wall once dry. I can still over lap corners too. Thanks for such great videos.
Yaaas that’s a great tip!
I use card stock but hadn’t thought of doing an overlap until watching Whiney’s video. Showing what a nube i am.
This is brilliant! It’s much easier to attach poster board to an already built house, rather than trying to attach thin paper. Thank you
@@WorldOfEnchantment44 it’s truly not hard at all. I find it sort of therapeutic lol
Lol you are so cute. "Some people think that latex is better, and...I've done acrylic and, it's fine". I take those Fisher Price big dollhouses that I find for free or cheap around town for sale, I prime them, and paint them for my kids. It's so fun. I scored a giant mansion for free, and since I have a son who doesn't play with dolls, he wants me to decorate this mansion for his Marvel Legends toys and make it his "Avengers Compound" lol. Thanks for the video!! It helped a lot!
OMG thats so fun! I have seen so many people convert those plastic dollhouse to amazing and beautiful creations. That is so so neat that you do that. How fun that you are going to make a marvel mansion. That will be epic!
@@WhitneyLaBrie thank you! And thanks for the fun video!! It helped me a lot! Wallpaper has never been my strong suit lol.
Watching this made me bite the bullet & roll my very first big dollhouse in from the garage. I wish I knew where to begin on the exterior!
oh that's exciting! Good luck, you got this!
Excellent tips! I need to restore a room I made for my daughter 30 years ago. I will get this glue for sure!
Oh I’m so happy to hear the video was helpful! Good luck with the renovation!
Looks really good 👍
I do have 2 tips: I use thick cardboard or wood against all walls, ceiling and floor so I can work on my desk and place them in later on. Tip 2: I would make strips of wallpaper in scale like the real ones, cause the seams will look very realistic as in real life you will see them too.
These are excellent tips!!! Thank you for taking the time to add these!
Does that decrease the square footage of the room much? It would be easier to get to electrical
@@recoveringsoul755 The cardboard I use is about 2mm so that's 4 mm you miss and yes when you sand a slot or drill a hole in the wall you can easily hide the cords for the electricity.
@@WhitneyLaBrie You're welcome ☺️
I’m doing the same only using 100# card stock. It’s much thinner than cardboard but just as easy to work with.
I hadn’t thought about it but leaving an overhang on the sides of my back wall may make the corners less visible. In my kitchen I’m using 1/8” x 1/8 sticks to trim the corners.
Wallpapered my daughter's dollhouse and then forgot what glue I used. Thanks for reminding me! Great tips too.
you are welcome! happy to help!
Brilliant Whitney! I am as green as green can be but this came a little late for my first papering😂 There's something to be said for learning by one's mistakes. Somehow it worked out for me but you can bet I'll be taking your advice for future paperings. My other rooms are bound to be better!❤️
Oh yes believe me when I say that I have made mistakes along the way…and most likely I’ll make plenty more! Lol
I have used Grandma’s glue also for all my wallpapers. It gives you time to reposition if needed. Love it.
It's really is such a great product! Thank you for your comment!
Love this video and definitely needed these tips! 🥰
Glad to hear that! Let me know if there is anything else you need that I could do a video on! :)
OH EM GEE. I tried this the other day and it is a game changer!!!!!! I now love this glue and will be using this trick from now until the end of time. THANK YOU.
I felt the exact same way when I first used that glue. It was a suggestion by my friend Larrianne who owns the local dollhouse shop in my town. She's been in the business for 50 years and she's a wealth of knowledge!
Awesome and informative Whitney.
Thank you!
Great video ! Thanks for sharing ❤ I have never thought to you a tape measure I always use a ruler. The tape measure really gets in the corners better and I have used that glue before but never added water. Thanks for the tips!
You are so welcome for the tips. I really appreciate you Liz!
This is great. Would you be willing to do a video of a wallpaper on a room that is not square. Maybe like a loft with angled walls. I built one of the Real Good Toys Log Cabins and di not wall paper while building, and now I need suggestions on the odd angle areas.
I think that’s a great idea! There is more to learn about wallpaper. I’ll work on another video.
Thanks Whitney. I didn't know Grandma Stover's was still around.
Yea and it’s still fabulous! Lol
I like your videos. Easy to understand. I personally use spray adhesive from the hardware store. No wrinkling.
ooooh thats pretty awesome. Someone else told me they have great success with that also. Thank you for adding that for others too! :)
All great tips!thanks Whitney!
I’m
So happy you feel that way! You are so very welcome! ❤️❤️
Thanks for the tips.😊
Absolutely! My pleasure!
Great tips! 😎 😃
Great Tips, thankuuuu!
You are absolutely welcome! I hope they come in handy. :)
Thanks this is interesting. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
you are so welcome thank you for watching!
Looks easier than life size wallpapering.
Did it once,it was a nightmare,I think I cried at one point!
No,two points.
I literally just did wallpaper for my mom when I was visiting a couple of weeks ago and yes….tears were involved…really all wallpaper instructions should really mention that there will be tears at some point.
Ha,just call a professional,let THEM do the weeping,right?
Thanks, Whitney! Do you know if Small Wonder’s sells Grandma Stover’s? I am on an “Amazon” diet this year. 😆 It was nice running into you at Small Wonder’s over the Holidays. I hope she was able to finish all of those dollhouses for Christmas? Also, I hope to meet you again. It made my day! 😊
Yes she absolutely has it! It was great meeting you too! You can ask her about the dollhouses…it’s quite a story! 😍
Sounds good! Thanks again! 😊
@@inhale3384 of course! My pleasure.
Hi Whitney, I drove up today(Friday) to Small Wonders and it’s closed. It is after 10:00 am. Is she okay? I tried calling the phone number and it says it’s no longer in service. 😮
@@inhale3384 she should be there! I’ll be there at 11. Are you still there, maybe she’s just running behind today.
I print my own on photo paper so it's easy to scale using Microsoft Word. I print on the non shiny back of the photo paper so I still have the thickness but not glossy. Dry-fit. Then I use spray adhesive on the paper, not the wall so it doesn't get where I don't want it. I use a gift card to slowly smooth from bottom to top allowing the paper to lay over my free hand.
These are excellent tips!!! Thank you for sharing!
For cutting the wallpaper, it's easy to just put the wallpaper with the pattern face-down and then you don't have to worry about tape as much, or pencil marks being visible later on. Just make sure to "mirror" your measurements so when you flip it over, it won't be backwards. :)
that such great advise! I have accidentally mirrored incorrectly in the past. Thank you for your info here so that others can use this great tip too!
@@WhitneyLaBrie oh girl, "making mistakes" is my middle name hahaha I just thought it might help some folks like me who overdo it with the tape haha! ;)
Great tutorial! I’m nervous about wallpapering rooms with copper tape and light fixtures? I’m guessing templates are still the way to go?
Yes I like to use a template for that. I am actually in the process of doing that right now and so I've been filming as a I go for a second wall paper video on other tips!
@@WhitneyLaBrie Oh that’s fantastic!😃
Subscribed. Thank you 😊
no thank you!!! I really appreciate you being here. :)
Room looks beautiful. Can i have the measurements of the room. God bless
Thank you! That room was 12 wide and 12 tall and about 6 inches deep.
I have some suregrip wall covering adhesive left over from wallpapering my bathroom. I wonder if this glue would work with dollhouse wallpaper? I sure did look like the grandma glue you were using mixed with water.
It not I. For some reason I can’t edit or delete my comments on YT. Super annoying
It may work!, I would maybe do a small test piece first, just in case!
Can I use acrylic spray paint to prime the wood?
yes absolutely you can. I would stay away from satin or gloss however, and use an actual acrylic primer or matte sprays.
@@WhitneyLaBrie thanks for the advice lovely ❤️❤️
The dollhouse store you featured at 2:49, what is its name and what city and state. I was gift a dollhouse that is in that clip and I would like to know more about it. Please reply.
Nevermind I see the name 😅
Yes it’s Larrianne’s Small Wonders in Ventura CA! 😍😍
can you clear Elmers glue to put in the wallpaper?
technically yes you can use clear Elmers glue. You have to be very careful because it tends to want to wrinkle the wall paper.
❤
🥰🥰🥰
Ceiling and flooring almost the same paper?
In this case yes…I was creating a farmhouse look for a wizard of oz themed house, you of course do what ever you want.
