Totally agree I myself ever been much for brand names so raised my sons sane way. It's something we ask ourselves after hubby gets paid bills and groceries first, and we ask ourselves, "Do we really need this, etc." With the cost of everything gone up, you have to be mindful how you spend because you don't know what may happen that could alter your life situation. Love your perceptive on the matter. I myself can relate decades ago. I worked in factory all was the same products. But would get different labeling to go to certain stores and restaurants. I think that when I realized that, same item goes to Macy's, Target, Meijers, Walmart, etc. Same item under different labels, so then priced accordingly. I enjoyed your chat And I love the romper he's so adorable in it 💜💛💜
@@marijo4141 Thank you and I totally agree!! Spending on wants is a priviledge that we can sometimes take for granted when tomorrow is never certain. I also think more people need to understand the ins and outs of manufactured goods. That would definitely put things into perspective. Also, I hadn't made this correction before but Damian is a he 😅 Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your thoughts!! 💕
I feel like we are, as a doll community, mending and healing. I support unity in the community. I buy the things that I like. I always say I don't like it because it's expensive, it's expensive because I like it, lol. But I love thrifting, yard sales, and consignment sales. Also, I love shopping at Beal's, which is a clothing outlet with beautiful clothing for great prices. Luxury, to me, has nothing to do with price. Luxury can be having the time for a long bath at the end of a long, hard day. Right now, for me, getting more than 6 hours of sleep in a row is a luxury. But I don't really think we need to rationalize how little or how much we spend. I got caught up in that once and lost sight of the joy of my hobby. I had to do a lot of rethinking. Nowadays, I just enjoy my hobby and buy what I can afford. If it's something really expensive, then I save up for it. Your baby looks adorable with her puppy dog. 🐶 Hugs and love to you! 💜
@@LightHeartedLifeCollectibles *his puppy dog 😅 but thank you so much for your input! And I agree, the greatest luxuries in life aren't material things, they are experiences that we may not always get to enjoy (like uninterrupted sleep like you mentioned, the older I get the more I appreciate it) 😂💕
Hi There, Damien is adorable in his vintage inspired outfit and sitting so nicely with his puppy. I have never been a brand name or top of the line consumer for my self. I do have to admit, I did indulge my children with those things. If I knew then what I know now, I would have hit the thrift stores or purchased on the second hand markets. Yes, I have seen some doll collectors who purchase extravagant items for their dolls. I will purchase doll clothes on Amazon, eBay or Etsy and that will be as luxurious as I will get. Furniture or baby accessories will be strictly thrifted or from Facebook market place. I can't even imagine spending excessive amounts of money on doll items. I do wonder at times what collectors credit card debt is because of the constant spending they do. I also think some of the "elitist" collectors as you call them, have a need to show their material wealth or social status. Like you, if they can afford luxury or high end items for their dolls and have the extra funds to do so, more power to them. As you mentioned, I have heard of forced labor or cheap labor, mainly in China, who make many of our luxury or high end items. I know China law is trying to change these working conditions. This was a very informative video and thank you for sharing your thoughts and your input on this subject. Take care now. 🙋♀️💖🍁🤗
@@robingates8304 100% people like to show off their wealth! It gives some people a sense of superiority and the vitriol I've seen from some of them (very few of them) towards those who can't afford the same is honestly frightening.
