Having both the tube feed capability and side gate loading is the best of both worlds. The side gate allows for an easy top off or a change of cartridge, while the tube allows for safely unloading without having to work the action for each cartridge while emptying the rifle. It's also 100% made in the USA. We have one of their plants here in WI.

@@soonerfrac4611 It seems the 41 mag is beginning to make a comeback. I'm glad to see it gaining popularity as it really is a great cartridge. The 10mm gets more popular every day because (according to some- there are a few factory high end 10mm loads) it has near 41 mag power. So (outside of capacity being smaller) what's wrong with the old Ruger Blackhawk or the S&W mod 57 both in 41 Mag, Nothing against the 10mm but aside from capacity the 41 mag will do everything it can do and more.

I own this rifle, but in the 20" barrel. Absolutely love it. At first I was hesitant about a rifle in pistol cartridge, but owning and shooting it has squashed that hesitation. Smooth action and super solid build. Excellent customer service too. When I got my rifle there was an issue with the butt stock being loose - the fitment of it was off. Three days after contacting Henry about it, I received new butt stuck AND forestock so that I wouldn't be left with mismatched wood. Keep up the great work Henry.

I used to own a Henry lever action chambered in .357Mag/38Spcl that I was pretty much forced to sell several years ago. That rifle didn't have the side gate in it. I have since then ordered up another lever action chambered in .357Mag/38Spcl with the side gate. I'm hoping to receive it soon. Henry makes a fantastic lever action.

It took a while, but I finally got mine not too long ago. Like sootch00, I got a color case hardened 44 Magnum with side gate, but I went for the 20" barrel. I bought the large loop lever (color case hardened) and put it on, and then installed a set of Skinner Color Case Hardened Rear Peep sights with Brass Stem and the Skinner True Partridge Brass Blade Front Sight. Not only does it look fantastic, but it shoots great too! I can testify to the smoothness of the action, because I also own an older Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited II. It's chambered in 44 Magnum and has an octagon barrel as well. The barrel on the Marlin is 4" longer, but a little thinner walled, so the weight is pretty close to the same. It still has the original buckhorn rear sights and beaded front blade, but it's a true shooter and It's never failed to drop deer in their tracks. All in all, I enjoy shooting both rifles, but the new Henry is smoother cycling.

I'm in the market for another 44 trapper and will likely purchase this rifle.

The Henry lever action rifles are awesome. I remember watching the movie Silverado and the scene when Danny Glover’s character Mal Johnson arrives just in time to save Scott Glenn’s character’s Emmett’s life and saying, “I don’t wanna kill you and you don’t wanna be dead.”
Or when Emmett offers Mal a revolver in a gun belt, Mal holds up two Henry rifles and says, This’ll do.”
The Winchester lever action rifles were no slouch, either. But in my humble opinion, the Henry looked stronger than the Winchester.
If I were to purchase a Henry, I would probably want to have the All-Weather with a pistol grip, 20 inch barrel and chambered in either.357 magnum/.38 Special or .44 magnum/ .44 Special. Add a strong leather strap and I’d be good to go. A revolver in those calibers would be sensible, as well and you can’t go wrong with the combination.
I think lever action rifles are a sensible option in home defense.
    Have a great day!

Thank you for review. Just ordered same gun but round barrel. I had a friend who had a Puma/Legacy sports 16" .454 Casul that had both a load gate and a tube feed. I was jealous because they didn't make it in .44 mag. I like having both. Load gate to load is fine but it is annoying while hunting, because you have to work the action to empty gun. With tube, not a problem...perfect system in my opinion and I think the 16" is such a handy side. Plus Henry makes a really nice fit finish gun.

Great review. We has the older Henry Golden Boy in 44 Magnum. Beautiful but not practical for hunting so a friend wanted it and I sold it. Now my wife & daughters want another Henry. We have had the Marlins both real Marlin & Remington Marlin. The Remington Marlin was problematic from the beginning and the gun shop got me another one. It was good but not the old Marlin. So it is Henry in our family now.

That's a beautiful gun nice showcasing. I think a solid lever action is never irrelevant.

Very nice rifle. You can load it faster if you take the tube out and put them in the end of the tube..less time for orientation to the shaped hole in the tube. You can have the rounds in tubes with the right number and just dump a tube full into the rifle. I do that with my Henry 22 Mag Golden Boy.

U just can't beat henry lever guns , so smooth and accurate and just plain fun when u can afford the ammo.

I love the Henry’s I’ve got a X model in 45 colt and a steel side gate in 45/70 been wanting a 44 Mag but as much as I like Henry I’m also considering a Rossi they are quite a bit cheaper but the cost difference still makes it hard to get the Rossi as the Henry’s are such a beautiful and and smooth functioning gun.

I love Henry 44 mag. Mine is a brass big boy with a 20 inch octagon barrel. It has a little brother,a Ruger super Blackhawk hunter in 44 mag also. 2 great guns. 110 percent you can count on them to bring home the deer meat. I love my 44,s

When safe unloading from the tube end, give a gentle smack to the receiver after dumping all the rounds out. Sometimes a round gets caught up by the loading gate and is being held in place.

Have a 45lc version and love it! Would like to add .44 to my collection. Have two Henry .22’s, 45-70 all weather, and 45lc, just forgot the ak7 survival too(never shot). Love them all. Henry has good customer service too

the 1800s "assault-rifle"!! You won't fully appreciate the look and feel of these until it is in your hands. Went with the .30-30 in the polished-brass. Thanks for the vid. Reminded me I need to take it back to the range

Classic. What a beautiful rifle. And it's made in Wisconsin, my home state. Love cowboy action guns, grew up with em, and never discount them. They are always reliable, accurate, and smooth. I like the 44 mag version, but a 45-70 would be good too. Awsome vid.

Dont be afraid to hunt with 44 mag it hits hard.ive never lost a deer hunting with 44 mag. Use 240 grn Winchester factory flat points. Short blood trail.

That's a beautiful rifle especially with the side loading gate and it always gets good reviews. I understand the advantage of loading and unloading with the tube I just can't get used to it. I hope I get over it and I'll probably have to because I just can't find the older Marlins in some of the calibers that I want to add to the collection.
