I love Potatoes all kinds of ways! But I remember my grandmother taking me to see very good friends of hers in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania when I was 17. Years ago. They had made potatoes like these with a little parsley sprinkled throughout them. The potatoes were served on a big beautiful plate with an awesome steak. And corn on the cob. And a big glass of delicious Ice Tea. Their last names were Kennedy. This brought back such a sweet memory with my grandmother. I definitely want to make these. God bless you Tammy! 🧡 Thank you for the Tips about potatoes! 🧡 Btw, this husband and wife played Pipe Organs in 2 different large churches in Pittsburgh. The man had made a very large pipe organ in his basement. Unbelievable! He told me to not cut my hair if I wanted to make hairdos (as I had very long hair). He used to fix some people’s hair in Hollywood. He meant don’t cut straight across. 😊😊 So many memories from that came from this video!! 😊😊
I grew up on stewed potatoes too! 🥔 They’re delicious with fresh reds from the garden. My mama always used cornstarch (+cold water) to thicken these, soups, etc. I carried on and still use it, it’s a great pantry staple.
Hi Tammy & Chris! Runnin' late this evening as usual ! Stewed potatoes were the perfect side dish for the salmon patties we had for supper this evening! My grandmother frequently made stewed potatoes so this video / tutorial brought back some fond memories, for sure! We also made your Godsend Cake for dessert. by the way. My crew gave it 6-stars.... no leftovers!! Thanks for another video, y'all!
When I purchase bags of potatoes or onions, I “sniff” the bag in a few places, and look at them as well. THAT way, you KNOW if you have “bad” ones in the bag!!!!
I used smallish red potatoes not peeled and quartered. Took about 20 minutes or more to cook on my gas stove.I would use the 2 large heaping forkfuls since I did two smallish forkfuls of cornstarch and thought my less amount of potatoes compensated but no! They were good though! Delicious actually!
Russet potatoes are a type of potato, Idaho potatoes is a brand of russet potatoes. They tend to grow large and starchy. It is normal for the black/brown spots inside the potatoes. It all depends on the rain & sunlight of each year. Some years are better than other years to not get the spots!
Dang girl I love the blonde look. I'm assuming Chris loves it too because you look hot mama.👌 This recipe I plan on making for lunch because I ❤ potatoes. Also thank you for the tips on potatoes. Those green potatoes if you don't peel all that green off it you'll get a belly ache when you eat it. Have a beautiful blessed day. ❤💕🌹 Much love, Rennie
I love my vintage Revere ware 🥰🥰 I’d slap somebody if they tried to take it from me .. I just paid 200$ for a fryer .. but it’s soooo worth it .. I love my vintage cookware .. u can’t beat it.. nobody makes cookware like the old times 😊😊
Hi Tammy, I have enjoyed watching you and Chris for the last three years or so. I can’t believe I have never commented until now. I wanted to say you are a beautiful lady and I love your red hair but as a blonde you are beyond gorgeous. I want to Thank You and Chris, for all the videos, wonderful recipes, the smiles along with giggles and laughs you have given me. Most of all, Thanks to you both for keeping me entertained on an otherwise boring day. ❤️❤️❤️
This was one of the first of your videos that I watched, if not the very first. Was trying to find a recipe that didn’t use flour. This is an oldie, but a goodie.
My Mom always saved about 1/4c of the water, then drained the potatoes into a colander. (She also added “half-moon” shaped onions to the boiling potatoes in the last few minutes of cooking; just to soften them and get to rid of the harsh bite.) She would add flour to the melted butter in the empty pot, (for a “roux”), add the water and canned, evaporated milk, and season to taste with S/P; if the sauce was too thick, she just added some regular milk or water, and whisked until LUMP-FREE, but still THIN!! (This sauce ALWAYS GOT REALLY THICK AS IT COOLED!!) Finally, she placed the potatoes and onions into a serving bowl, then slowly poured the hot sauce all over the top; making sure to let it seep down to the bottom of the bowl!! DEFINITELY BELLY-WARMING COMFORT FOOD!!!! 😊Yumm!!!! Edit: Wait…..ok….😳sorry!! THAT’S my mom’s CREAMED POTATOES!!!! 🤦🏼♀️ I’ve been up all night, Tammy…….(EXCRUCIATING BACK, ARTHRITIS PAIN and MUSCLE SPASMS……) I’m just a wee bit loopy, LOL!!!! 🥴 😂
@@CollardValleyCooks Sadly, 6+ of my medical conditions, are progressive and incurable. We can MEDICATE, but otherwise……🤷🏼♀️ One day at a time!! 🥲Thank you so very much for your love and support Tammy!! ✌🏻🙏🏻❤️
I quite frequently made what I called cream potatoes with parsley. After eating potatoes made that way for a few years my hubby asked if I felt secure in our marriage, I said yes, I guess so, why, and he said because I wanted to tell you I don’t really like potatoes made this way. Never made them again, not even after we split after 27 years. Now I frequently make mashed potatoes. 🤗
I absolutely love your hair and your glasses. It makes you look so much younger! I love it! My Mama taught me how to make stewed potatoes. She cooked hers less so they wouldn’t turn into mashed potatoes. She served them as I side just like you’re saying. I guess every southern cook knows how to make good stewed potatoes. It’s actually an art to it bc you have to know exactly how much time to cook them. I haven’t made these in years. Thanks for reminding me about these.
Thanks for the great information! I don’t remember having stewed potatoes but am delighted to learn how to make them for my best friend who always talks about having them as a child.
My Mamaw made these all the time! She didnt call em stewed taters though; she called em "chunk taters" so when we tried to make em like her we could never get em right! I am so glad to know the name of this dish me and my Mama are gonna try to do this soon. Thank you 🙏🏼 💜
Tammy you are the best. My Momma from NC made this growing up and you right people would tell me oh potato soup and I tell them it was not a soup. I will be making this recipe. You are the best ❤. Thank You. This made me 😢
Kathie says…Tammy! Your new look is absolutely beautiful!! Not that you weren’t Beautiful before!! This is just new and it compliments you very much!! Your recipe looks yummy!! Thank you for the potato tips! 😘☀️
Hey Tammy, I made your Angel Biscuits and they were SOOO delicious!!!! I had about 16 biscuits on Saturday and between me and my son there are only two more left on Monday!! I even did what you suggested, I fixed a little orange marmalade with cream cheese and they were so good with that on them!! Thank you for the recipe, it's definitely a keeper!!❤
Have a recipe for Southern Stewed Tomatoes? I think my Daddy called them "Tomato Gravy"? served over rice or grits at times as a side dish. Maybe these are two different dishes. Haven't lived in the South since I was a kid and only my Dad was Southern born and bred. I am less disadvantaged with knowledge of that culture thanks to your amazing episodes!!
I've found that when I make a cornstarch slurry at first I only add enough liquid to make a paste then add the remainder of the liquid... you will have no lumps that way... love your channel... and the hair..
We grew up w potatoes cooked every which way & just like these. Great w a big slab of buttered cornbread. Ol’timey cooking, simple ingredients- the best. ♥️ We’ve always used flour for thickening, never whipping cream/fancy milks & very little cheese in our cooking (don’t remember any). Seems now ppl put mountains of cheese in food.
Had me confused for a minute. Then I looked at the kitchen.. lol. My mom only put butter, salt and pepper in hers. Never any flour or cornstarch. I have to try this. Looks great.
I’m confused about you stating that potatoes turn green, I thought they were green before they were fully ripe, not turn green afterwards. But do agree with removing any green parts of a potato. Also I found the perfect jar to mix up either a flour or cornstarch slurry, and that’s a Better Than Bullion jar.
Love your blonde hair! Respectfully, some of your potato info is incorrect. Red potatoes have less starch than russet potatoes, and potatoes are native to America, not Ireland.
I have worn wigs for years. Did you order your wig or buy it from a wig shop? My grandma always made stewed potatoes and they were my favorite. She cut hers into thin rounds. They were so good.
Ok, who's the blonde impersonating Tammy? Love it!! You look 10 yrs younger! My mom made stewed potatoes as a side for meatloaf. I believe she added a smidge of bacon grease 😋.
This is an oldie, but a goodie. Is Tammy OK , this is an old video from her other house , have not seen any new video's lately , Is something wrong with her ?
Stewed potatoes!! Yummy 😋. I don’t like tater tots but I love all other potatoes. You look fantastic as a blonde. I didn’t think you could be any prettier but you look as pretty as you do as a redhead. Let’s see a brunette 😂. Love y’all ❤

Something my momma taught me is to use an old pickle jar for the starch and milk or water and just shake the jar
Good idea
OMGosh! Blonde suits you.
Agree! She looks sooo much younger! Blonde is definitely your cold Tammy!
I agree blond or highlights make women look younger. Dark hair makes us look older
NOT REALLY!!! My opinion!!
@@charlenebercillio8065I don't think so 🧐.

My mother-in-law would fry bacon and add the hot grease to the potatoes. They would pop and crackle and made good stewed potatoes.
Hi Tammy, I’m shouting out from Maryland. Love your blonde hair and I like to put onions in my stewed potatoes.
