  • I'm trying Nigerian food for the first time. I've had incredibe Jollof Rice but they say that Nigerians do it best. I'll also be trying egusi, fufu, and a lot more! I'm visiting some Nigerian spots here in the USA to try the best that Nigeria has to offer here in the USA.

For those who think that "jollof rice" is the main Nigerian dish, sorry that is just entry level stuff. What this woman has done today gives you an idea of proper traditional Nigerian food - from just one region of the country. And, ah, egusi stew is my favourite meal ever!

Nigeria has the most DIVERSE food in the world and it’s expected with over 370 tribes, so you can imagine the different and unique cuisines. Our food is on another level and she barely touched it ❤❤❤🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬

Palm oil, especially palm oil and dried fish used as a base in cooking, takes a dish to a totally different level of flavour.
That's why Nigerian and West African dishes in general, taste so good.
And palm oil's got many health benefits contrary to the myth.

Ghana and Nigeria cook with the same ingredients. The difference is in preparation and how they're combined.

Kudos to everyone, especially the cook. Her personality already tells me the food will be very delicious. And David, you're the first white man I've seen who eats these dishes the proper way, in that swallows (morsels like fufu, semo, amala & pounded yam, etc) are not meant to be chewed but swallowed. It is okay to chew the soups and meats, etc, that are chewable, but the swallows are meant to be swallowed.

True Shabana. Many of west African descendants and especially the Yoruba people are more in the Caribbean and still stick to Yoruba culture after many centuries they were taken during the infamous slave trade era. In Brazil, Cuba, Argentina, Etc. Most of them still cook with same styles with little different even after centuries.

Well, good morning Baba Tunde/David. I watched the 'live' video chat and I am so happy to see the end product. This was so enjoyable and I love Janet. She is very entertaining and so accommodating. All of her food look delicious especially with those combinations of interesting ingredients. We use okra in Trinidad callalloo: that's what makes it slimy. Callalloo and fufu (pounded plantain) in a Sunday meal are a delicious combination, along with stewed chicken, red beans, macaroni pie and salad😋. Delish. Nathan, I hope you enjoyed the food too. On a different note, David, maybe you are a reincarnation with African heritage!!!🤔. It is said that through reincarnation, some spirits come back through newborns, something you wouldn't find in DNA. The Lord works in mysterious ways. So just enjoy what life has to offer you. You are truly blessed. Have a good day and a great weekend. Love to you and your family. Blessings always.🙏🤗❤️🇹🇹🇨🇦
