Something I like about living on the other side of the planet is that most American online discourse begins and fizzles out while I'm getting my 8 hours of sleep.
I know it is unintentional, but it is kind of a throwback to the super deformed penny racers that were original disguise for '84 Bumblebee and Cliffjumper.
I just wish his chest wasn’t clear plastic, his torso looks kinda hollow and it doesn’t match the more solid-colored windshields of his mates Prowl and Optimus. His boosters are made of the same stuff when they were yellow in the show, and even when connected with the stingers they look like they only partially exist. I hope we get another run of the figure that has solid stuff for all the clear plastic.
I was one of the few who were awake when the whole discourse went down and boy was it brutal. You had people invoking Derrick's dead name, sayin he would've hated it and so on and so forth. I was of the camp that was extremely excited for him, I had been since the intial leaked listings. And even more so the upcoming Animated Wasp cause that was my favorite character from that show and it was such a shame he never got a proper toy until now. Hopefully this means other Animated characters could potentially be immortalized in plastic form now that Animated's essentially having another go-around, like the Constructicons, or Omega Supreme. But of course, only time will tell, in the meantime I am all for this little guy!
Way to start the May with Vangelus's second Legacy Animated review. One thing on Legacy Animated Bumblebee that I nitpick is the use of clear plastic since in show Bumblebee's windows were black (could guess reflecting sun). IMO, Hasbro could have used smokey clear plastic what was used on those rockets.
I do like this little guy, I picked him up when I was having a bad day, but I already have so many Bumblebees so I'm probably going to sell him and get this mold when it comes out as Wasp next year. That way I'll still have to mold but also add some green to my Decepticon shelf.
I confess that The Discourse on almost every reveal is downright tiring. If a figure isn't perfect, it has to be total garbage and never have had been made. It might actually be effecting my enjoyment.
That is dangerous talk /s People seem to be very weird about Animated, approaching the Geewunner style behaviour. And let's not forget people treating the late DJW, the art director and character designer, as though he was the showrunner, placing a weird amount of emphasis on his headcanon and fanart made years later - the tfwiki eventually had to stop doing that.
@@ffnbbq The discourse around DJW, following his passing has been very bizarre. It especially egregious, when the animated legacy characters stared getting revealed, and people started saying things like "Derrick would hate these" or "Derrick would love these". Like I don't care how well someone may or may not have known him personally, if I was Derrick, I'd be really offended that people were putting words in my mouth after I died.
I think it's a great update to Animated Bee. And I hope we get Wasp and Cliffjumper out of him as well. And the other 18 million characters that shared his body type, lol.
Beyond Animated Optimus, which is great. I think Hasbro should have left the other animated characters to the dust bin of history if they were going to be this lackluster.
Have yet to pick up Bee just because he wasn't quite my taste from everything I've seen. Honestly tho, I probably will sooner than later. I was a late adopter of animated, so I missed its real zeitgeist. I'm just hoping at this point we can get an Animated Ratchet to round out the crew with Legacy Bulkhead.
Hey Vangelus 😊 great video, love this figure so much! I didn’t know if you knew but he does also have heel spurs you can flip out! In case you ever need it
oh god did I get your peg stinger and you my port stinger. my copy came with two peg types and I ended up shaving off the peg and trying to simulate a port, and that works approximately 30% of the time sadly. guess I could use some sculpting putty to better create a port.
Your review has simultaneously made me want it more and less, more because I had no idea his engineering was so complex and his poseability so unhinged, less because look, I can accept smaller deluxes, but he's A)SUPER smaller and B) *_SEVERELY_* lacking in paint, Cliffjumper was also very short, but he and his mould mates have been slathered in paint head to toe, the unpainted stingers, feet and the whole rear of the car are super lackluster, bordering on offensive.
@@vriderch1360 simply compare it to the original there is no contest. This new mold (which I have as shadow striker) is mediocre at best as her to begin with, the original sideburn mold is perfect and. All this new one has over it is an ankle pivot on feet that aren’t even the right color compared to the show. We are sacrificing everything now for articulation and it sucks making everything ugly and without any character whatsoever
Really hate this figure. It falls in the Legacy Armada Hot Shot category of mangling a perfectly fine and simple transformation into something "more complex and interesting" but resulting in a bot mode that's ugly as sin (and a car that isn't particularly a looker, neither). Hate the proportions of the head too. I have tons of misgivings on Legacy TFA Prowl (particularly his bike mode being objectively terrible), but at least they made a valid attempt at a "reimagining" of him in Generations style, even if that's something I'm uninterested in; this and Optimus meanwhile are just, the TFA designs straightup, but uglier and overcomplicated. This sucks.

Lucky.
5:00 Titanium Megatron proves that more metal is always better.
literally science
Damn, Vangelus. 16 years later and you haven’t shaken your Aniamted Bumblebee Stinger Curse
I even bought this one legally like a human citizen!!

May The Vangelus Be With You.

I'm glad Legacy Animated went in this direction, this feels like a much better update than Prowl was.
Enjoyed the Bumper Robinson shout at the start

I'd have to look at my copy again, but I swear all his clear plastic was on the same sprue, so it's all that smokey gray.
Really hoping this gets redone in Wasp and Cliffjumper
"I think as a Transformers collector and fondler..."
A Transfondler if you will!
This mold actually looks kind of neat, I'd like to see a use of it without the animated head. I just like the silhouette.
"For Free??"
@@ThatToyGuy dang. My first vangelus vid and ur here
Mr Vangelus, you forgot to fold out bumblebee's essential heels 👠🥺
I've used them so little I could barely get them to flip out when I went to check ;_;
“I may be small, but I'm scrappy! And I can ride circles around your big, old, rusty chassis!”
3:01 FOR FR-.
Wait I actually do recall seeing someone in a TF facebook group get one with two hand stingers with pegs. Your soulmate is out there.
I find it funny that everyone going on about this BB's height fail to realize that this BB is taller than the Netflix BB, lol.
The stingers become better if you pretend the unpainted insides are blue flame effects for the rockets

Bumblebeans
I'm looking forward to the Wasp repaint of this

How would that affect your enjoyment? If you like the figure, you like it. People are allowed to have their opinions

Our favorite Little Bumbleboy!
I highly recommend the legacy animated prime as well, might be the most fun animation I've experienced in years!

agreed
Chugway...
I'm so happy to see a new Vangelus video
Perfect way to start the day! Happy to see another review
Comment for the comment gods

I really would like to see this guy with his waist rotated 180°, so his legs were wholly black and he has his big toes
*Bumpers and Robinsons*
I see what you did there. 👍🏾
nice. I can some custom Throttlebots coming from this guy.
Heheheh. "Bumpers and Robinsons". I get it.
Between him and Chase, Legacy's getting weird with the leggies!
Damn, aside from Legacy Prowl, what was the last Animated figure that Vangelus reviewed? It's been awhile.
Vangelus, where is thy sting?
the butt

thank you for the heads up!
Found your person out there with two stingers with pegs man.... It's me. Mine both have pegs. Case closed. Still an enjoyable little dude though!

I don’t understand how they manage to do animated characters so well but completely butchered someone like sideburn
I would hardly call Side Burn "butchered".

Glad I didn't participate in viewing stolen factory products.
Not a fan of the faux feet at all. Faux forming sucks
