Great explanation of how to set up a floyd! It truly is a balancing act of string tension vs spring tension! As always thanks for sharing and educating, Dane.

I own this guitar bought it about 4 months ago it plays well and the pickups take well to distortion. Can easily upgrade pickups and tremelo. block and put a a locking tremelo claw in. That's my plan for the future but for now I can't complain about the playability and tone it's killer. For the fraction of the price of the premium or prestige line and fully customisable if your willing to do the work

Beautiful guitar. Love the wood grain. Nice job setting up a Floyd.

Great video. Great set-up. And that is a really beautiful guitar. I've messed around with a couple of em' at G-C. And they are beautiful. That one has particularly beautiful graining and figuring, and color. I dig it.

It did take me quite a few years to get that perfect floating straight trem and lean all the tricks. I made all the fun mistakes like over tightening shit, adjust things under tension and jacking up the knife edge, etc.

    Nice video. Cool guitar.
It’s great to see how you get it set up.
Floyds make me nervous pervous. 😆
    Nicely done!

There is a rubberized piece that allows you to dive the trem, slide the piece in, and it becomes the third hand! Keeps the trem from smacking the body behind the recess...or use a paint stick.

Thank you for this video. I was surprised by humbacker resistance, as I thought that it was around 13 K... They even sound "hotter" than 8 K to my ear. However, it could be possible that RG 370 and RG 470 versions, although the same models for different markets, have different specifications.

Don't just go buy a used one cuz it looks pretty. Have a tech inspect it and then play it. Just bought this model but it took three inspections of used ones before I got a good one from Guitar Center. The first two looked good until techs really inspected them (two different U.S stores) and found that the neck was warped (back bow) beyond repair (I returned it the one I bought to GC). The third one, the second one I bought (store #3), has small cracks where the neck is screwed in. Allegedly this cracking is typical, and doesn't affect play. The one I bought was already set up for 10 or 9 gauge strings - so neck was in good shape. Beauty of a guitar, but do inspect used ones before pulling the trigger.

In the 80's there was an official Fender product called Mustang Guitars. Like Squire is a licensed Fender product, so was Mustang. Anyway it looks like Ibanez has now claimed that profile. The RG range is top notch and those Wizard Necks are super fast. If i see a lefty for a reasonable enough price i may invest in one.

I own one of these puppies and it's a Wizard II neck, not the Wizard 3 per several sources I consider to be highly reliable. I believe some incorrect spec sheets that listed a Wizard 3 neck were distributed and caused some confusion.

Is this the old model? The one I got is the 370 here in the UK and has the spring adjuster wheel at the back

Friendly tip: never tune your guitar when it's resting on a cradle like that. It won't be in tune when you use it in the playing position. Tune/intonate in playing position only :)

A Floyd Rose is not really that hard to setup. It's time consuming and it takes patience. I started with a Floyd when I first started playing. I now do all of my own setups on my vast array of guitars. I would say it was beneficial to start learning how to tweak the Floyd from day 1. The floating bridge is not a hard concept to master.

I believe AH stand for Ash and M for Maple.
