- This was only the second time I ever summoned Yojimbo and what better way to finish off this stressful boss battle. (My first time ever playing FFX)

@@lettherebedragons8885 Jecht is the final boss of actual consequence beyond the point of no return. The Aeon battles and Yu Yevon give the party permanent auto-life so there's no real stakes to make Zanmato worth using. You'd have to-through your own actions-petrify all the characters you have on the field in order to lose.

@@rachmatmulia5212 They did do the HD remaster a few years back. It wasnt super well done though, and you might need a community patch from the speedrunning community to get the CGI animations working correctly. but it does exist

@@IAmToastMan yeah..the key is to answer and pay him right when you get him. Then when you summon him, fight with him a few minutes before dismissing him! If you dismiss him quick,that drops his like for you. Also getting him killed too much makes him not like you either. I had him doing Zanmato like 80% of the time and got freebies.

My favorite moment of FFX is when you more or less complete the Sphere Grid and have Yuna attack Jeckt for 99,999 damage with her measly little staff.
That's not true. You have to actually have a weapon that can break 9,999 damage.

@@WardenOfTerra yuna’s celestial weapon, named nirvana, actually can break 9,999. Thats one of the first celestial weapons i get. After that, it’s usually rikku’s. Second easiest. After that, the game becomes a lot of grinding to get the stats required to defeat the game’s targets. Still fun though.

He killed Yunalesca for me this way, she filled his overdrive meter and he was like "I am tired of this shit." Free zanmato dead...
I just sat there like...pays to have good friends...even if you have to pay them to be your friend sometimes. I think he did free Wakazashis on Thuban like 7 times, and the coolest thing he ever did was just take out a random group of 3 mobs with a free zanmato when I summoed him on Mt. Gagazet.

Yojimbo has a hidden mechanic; the more you pay him, the higher his odds are of using Zanmato. Keep paying him 10001 gil throughout the game (I don't know the exact thresholds, as I am not sure if there are any, however this amount worked for me), and he will eventually almost guarantee a Zanmato when you pay him a mil. Easy way to clear all Dark Aeons/Penance first turn.

Theres no certain value how much gil you need. Just pay 2/3 of the gil(if memory serves me well) thats why people always tell different gil value.

As long as you never pay him 0gil, never let him die, and never use his dog his compatability will cap at 255.
He isn't insulted by 1gil and the minimum for zanmato is 1,024gil.
His best chance to actually DO zanmato is to max his compatability and on summon he has ~25% to do a free move and that move has ~80% to zanmato a boss. So ~20% boss instakill.
I usually never charge more than 131,072gil late game. That removes the chance he uses doggo. Even at 1,024gil it is only ~20% of doggo. At 1gil it is ~50% doggo.

This is how my 11 year old self beat all dark Aeons and Jetch because FFX was my JRPG and had no idea what I was doing lol.
I'm so mad you don't get to fight the human version of jecht in this game. It would be awesome to see how to due reacts to having to fight him that way.

This is the strongest character in the game if you have enough money you can one shot everyone even the super bosses.
I cheesed every "hard boss" and special boss with zanmato on my first playthrough lol
I one time paid Yojimbo *everything* I had. Not in like a single move, but over the course of this fight. I’m talking tens on tens on thousands of Gil.

As soon as I summoned him, Yojimbo took control and Killed whatever was in front of him.

Hahah no, I kill jecht in 3 hits, i make with every character 99'999 damage 😂 and have 30'000 til 40'000 hp, but at this point you're way to op, not funny anymore

i got wiped by him first time, the two things healed too much overtime, but he was very easy with tidus quick attacks, auron power break and wakka to break the totens when they are messing too much
i was at like 5-6k hp on melee fighters and 2-3k on mages, and damage was like 7k on everyone but auron, that always dealt 9999, very fun fight this way

Huh, apparently if Yojimbo doesn't use Zanmato on his first (paid) attack, all subsequent attacks calculate Zanmato chance as if the target is a normal enemy. Normally this doesn't come into play, because powerful enemies will generally one-shot Yojimbo, but in this video, he barely survived a round and got a second attack off. Because of that, he was dramatically more likely to use Zanmato when he did. Braska's Final Aeon is Zanmato level 5, but it got treated like lv 1.
Came here underleveled so I couldn't beat him normal way and was hoping for Zanmato. Then I found out my version of the game has much lower Zanmato chance but I was too busy raising compability for Zanmato that I didn't notice my Bahamut already hits 35k, Tidus and Yuna got Hastega and Holy respectively. So I beat Jecht without it. Yojimbo is great for farming on final location because he evades a lot of attacks.

Yunalesca is the real boss of that game. I just beat it last night again. I killed Jecht with 1 attack on each form and 1 attack for each aeon and Yu-yevon. Spend some time in the Omega ruins lol
To be fair, I think most people (me included) we're overleveled by the point you fight Jecht on the first playthrough. Also the time to grind in omega dungeon and monster arena. I do consider yunalesca the raw skill check before the final area. I'll admit I looked her up before fighting and I probably wouldn't have known about her gimmick of purposely using zombie. Making you remove it and then she does a party wide insta death on her final phase. That shit is just cruel.
@@redshepherd32 I faced her to 2 nights ago on Xbox one X and she made me accept being a Zombie more often and I wasted my Precious Holy Waters to! But now I’m 70 hours in and I can go Airship to places!

An achievement is if you Zanmato Penance, it's all about how many times you have used Yojimbo and also the money aspect, just because you may pay him nearly max Gil doesn't mean he will Zanmato
It isn't like I'm stating that if you pay max Gil that he'll Zanmato. I was just surprised I was able to get this attack during my first time playthrough ever of this game.
