    Wow, so many mean people. He took the time to make this video and edit and post it on TH-cam, so that anyone wanting to do the same can see what works for him. I can't see myself going to that much effort. The fact that it wasn't 100% perfectly filmed, or the commentary was a little rambling, he still showed the whole process, the good and the bad, nothing hidden. Most people on TH-cam are not professionals and they do the best they can, with what they have. Thank you so much for this video. Your personal comments were sweet about the puzzle, and seeing the whole process from start to finish has made me think twice about using this method for my 3000 piece puzzle, since I don't intend to put it in a frame afterwards.

    Thank. you so much! Very helpful information. Just what I needed. I especially appreciate the tip to apply a final layer of Mod Podge around the edges of puzzle and in one direction. I've watched several video clips on glueing completed puzzles and these two tips were several that were new to me. Appreciate that you took the time to share them!

    I enjoyed this video. The two things I did differently a) used a craft board as it was of correct dimensions and 2) I taped the aluminum together as well as both pieces of waxed paper. I enjoyed the idea that you can take off extra glue with your finger or paper with a dab of water on it. Well done.

    Thanks going to attempt this with my husband, we love doing puzzles together! Only question I have is what if I use matte mod podge will it ruin the front of the puzzle. I saw you used gloss so very curious. By the way, I don't think it was slow at all!!? You did it step by step and showed us without just doing it and adding a few words in thank you!

    • @jillbrown1411
      @jillbrown1411 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Matte won’t ruin it. It’ll just give it a Matte appearance, which is dull and not shiny. Matte is a very good option if you hang the puzzle in an area where sunlight could shine on it and cause a glare.

    Tip: When you're sliding the foil under the puzzle, tape the far edge of the foil in place after it's started so it won't bind up on you, and just work the puzzle over the rest of the foil.

      After I apply a first coat it doesn’t take that long to dry.. after ten minutes you can unstick the curtain from the puzzle if you want. I’ve used wax paper, foil, and other things and this seems to work the best. Wax paper would be my second choice.

    It is best to soak the puzzle in gas after gluing. The chemical reaction seals it better. Then if your using a frame you want to get a frame that is 1/8" smaller. The chemical reaction with the gas will shrink the puzzle, making the seal tighter, and with it shrinking you put the puzzle in the 1/8" smaller frame. Here is the important part, your gonna wanna face your puzzle on the North side and with the gas still wet and the puzzle in the frame your gonna wanna drop a match on that bad boy. The match will make the puzzle heat up some. It will expand to the frame and get stuck. You will need a match, a finished puzzle: that required extensive man hours to complete, about a gallon of Unleaded Gas, a blanket to signal your wife thay you are doing fine, a compass, a video camera, a male African elephant in musk, some marshmallows, and finally some aluminum foil for security.

    • @WolfgangHaney
      @WolfgangHaney  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think when I did this I trimmed the puzzle just a little bit with an xacto knife, but you could also get a bigger frame and just have a border around the puzzle.

      If I spent a tremendous amount a time on a building a puzzle, I'd certainly spend the money and have it mounted and framed. We just did The Apocalypse Horses and spent 160 hours assembling. Well worth having it dry mounted and framed. Years ago while remodeling a kitchen the homeowners were puzzle building enthusiast and they had an entire wall in their basement covered with puzzles. It was pretty impressive.
