    That's been my experience w/ the Food Saver handheld sealer but I think the issue is more with the bag than the sealer. I've experienced air leaking in as well. That said, it doesn't happen when I use it to freeze or for sous vide. I have the countertop model as well so I'm kind of dialed into their ecosystem.

  • @1645308
    @1645308 ปีที่แล้ว

    If the pump sucks all the air out and you witness this, then it's not the pump's fault that the bag gets air in it, it's the bags fault or the person sealing the bag

    • @allanweiler3164
      @allanweiler3164 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I couldn't agree more. To lower the rating of the FoodSaver pump because a bag leaked is a totally unjustified. Also, these devices should not be called 'sealers' as they serve no sealing function whatsoever - they are vacuum pumps. ATK equipment tests are usually well done but occasionally the science is lacking leading to some erroneous conclusions.

    Even though I appreciate the conversational aspect of this, I think the way you’re info is presented and formatted is hard to follow and captions of the brand and model would be helpful. These are standard things I find in other helpful review videos

    DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.....This is a totally misinformation review.. you cannot begin to compare a foodsaver countetrtop model which has a seal that lasts years vs these hand held ones some I have had more than 7 years that do not give close to a permanent seal/thus years ...

    Zip brand is GARBAGE leak won't zip . Even their regular zip bag are garbage . I have put cold cuts in the meat drawer and the bottom of the bags leak. No thank you. My favorite is Food saver brand .

    @ America's Test Kitchen USUALLY you have worthwhile reviews..This review is ridiculous as these bags do not last over months/years...Get a $100+ foodsaver type... shame on you.. Most consumer chamber type units do not even cost "Thousands" but they are a different animal and nothing in this review deals with them.

    • @barcham
      @barcham 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Decent quality consumer chamber type machines start at around $1000 and go up from there. Unless you are running a home butcher shop business or shoot a deer and a moose every year, very few home users will have the need of one of those systems.

      @kenroman777 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@barcham I have had chamber vacs for 11+ years and both are excellent BUT the WHOLE point of my comment is that they are NOT talking about chamber units but Vacuum sealers like foodsaver..Most people never heard of chamber vacs which you can easily get as a home cook for under $1000 (of course you can spend more but I never needed to).

    • @barcham
      @barcham 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kenroman777 Agreed, they are not talking about chamber units. And the cost aside, they tend to be quite large machines as well and not suited for the average home, definitely not for an apartment dweller such as myself who lives in a one bedroom apt with a rather small kitchen! LOL They do an excellent job, however, and the vacuum material is much cheaper than for a home vacuum sealer.

      Kimball has his own site now, and if you happen to subscribe to his newsletter, you will soon find your inbox flooded with hundreds of offers for the various products he is now hawking, few of which the average home cook would be interested in. But if you are interested in $75 bottles of soy sauce, and other way overpriced condiments as well as overpriced knives and gadgets, go right ahead and sign up!
      By the way... the person who runs ATK and CC and CI and all the associated sites and magazines is actually Jack Bishop, and always has been.
