I'm an older woman whom felt you were talking to me. Right now due to a fall I have to wear a body brace for 3 months. Truly getting me down. Well, after hearing you I decided that rather than feel this as a burden I will think of it as a way to improve my posture which has declined with age. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Lucky you to have been diagnosed and have a brace to help you. I was not diagnosed with a fractured back and it healed itself. Now, because of this, I am bent forward at a 30 degree angle. Wear the brace with pride, and enjoy good posture for your life.

Hi Nikol, I am 71 years old and just had my book published last month, "I Have Five Beautiful Daughters" It took me 30 years to convince myself to write it. It's an autobiography about 5 sisters raised by alcoholic parents in Georgia. The purpose of the book was to show folks who were raised in an abusive home they can break the cycle of abuse. You're right about women should not wait to do the things they have buried inside for years. I'd give anything had I wrote my book years ago. It was very freeing to my spirit, my shame, my lack of confidence . I have always wanted to be a decorator. It's too late to visit that dream, I'm sure. Like you, I love music. But once again, I'm too old to attempt to learn how to play an instrument. But I'm not too old to share with others they can rise above the shame and hurt of being raised unloved and unwanted. If that's my only contribution to the world, at least I feel I did what I could to help someone somewhere. I do tell myself I'm old and ugly... never wear makeup or get dressed up. I've tried dozens of products for skin care and wrinkles and they never made any difference in my skin. I wish I could feel beautiful by having positive thoughts and words when I look in the mirror. Afraid to try new things is my biggest downfall not to mention I'm a home body who's afraid to leave the house! But I love watching your videos and maybe, just maybe, one day I may get the nerve to change my appearance. Thx for all you do!

We were both born in the era when, for women, things were 'not allowed for women' , ' not for girls', Less pay, less opportunities, less everything. We were bullied, suppressed and mocked for wanting to do something different.
So don't let it continue, please don't suppress or bully yourself by saying 'too old' That is letting society still bully you ! Please don't say you are too old to do new things ! Please don't ! I am same age as you and lost my husband who was 22 years younger than me , not what expected, I have no children and now I have to start again for myself, so make a pact with me and let's both never say 'too old now' or the saddest words 'too late' Let's just act as if we are 40 and go for it, the alternative is unthinkable.

You are not giving yourself enough credit! You have raised a family & published a book! I’m certain you have many accomplishments ❤️ Everybody has their own beauty & yes that means you! You were motivated enough to write a book & followed through with it! Stick your neck out & try new makeup. With Nikol’s help you can’t go wrong. Great thing about TH-cam is you can pause, or rewatch the video as many times as it takes to feel comfortable applying & wearing makeup 💄

I felt very sad reading your beautiful words, you raised 5 beautiful children, in my mother's language there's no such a words as ugly" on
Beautiful and not very beautiful. There's just one scale of beauty. And you are somewhere on that scale. And true beauty is what's inside.
I am sorry your parents never made you feel loved. But God loves that's why you are alive. Where as my parents loved me way too much as a result I value human beings just for having the strength to live on this earth. I hope you put some make up on take some selfies, build each part of you little by little. I wish you blessings.

      Hi Glory Be,
Affirmations changed my life. I had an incurable disease that was identified but the cause was unknown, hence it being incurable. I was advised by a colleague to try Louise Hay affirmations. 3 months after I started listening, the disease was gone. The disease was chronic hives which felt as though I was being rubbed all over with burning sandpaper unless I was asleep, when it disappeared.
The affirmations actually rewired my brain. I no longer think negative thoughts at all.

Hi Nikol. Yes, I'm turning 65 next month. My husband passed away 5 years ago. After that I gained a ton of weight and stopped wearing makeup and was just feeling awful. A year ago I started a vegetarian diet and I discovered your channel. You've taught me how to apply makeup properly and with the loss of 30 lbs I again feel like I'm ready to start living again. Thank you for everything you do and share with us. We love you and your content.

Hello, Nikol. This is the best video you have done. It is inspiring, thoughtful and both raw and real. As I near 80, I am still searching; however, it keeps me green and growing and reaching and planning for the good things that are coming. A favorite quote from Abraham Lincoln, “it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.” Thank you again for your sharing this with us ladies. Judi

Hi Nikol, I'm a Physician Assistant 36 years in medicine and at age 65 decided to go back to school and get my doctorate in Clinical Psychology for the sole purpose of working with veterans. In 2020 finished an amazing dissertation and graduated summa cum laude. I'm now working with veterans, yeay!!!! I am now involved in an amazing project for veterans. If I had listened to people telling me I was too old!!!!
About menopause do not listen to what people say it's everyone's individual journey. Many times the same goes for pregnancy, people saying horrible things. I always told my patients do not listen, embrace it, and make it your own experience.

Dear Nikol, thank you so much for this video. I felt that my life had been totally destroyed when my husband of 42 years died in December of 2012. My health started going downhill and between 2018 and now I have had life-threatening surgeries, very serious infections, covid, constantly in nursing homes, lost all my teeth, lost site in my left eye due to shingles and cellulitis, have a pacemaker, and cannot walk 2 feet without using a walker. I have been seriously suffering from a pity party, not wanting to do anything. Well, I am now going back to jewelry making and sewing. I was a professional historical seamstress for 25 years and I really loved it. Thank you for waking me up! PS, I turn 77 this Sunday so it's a good time to start over!

Thank you for this video! Today is my 51st wedding anniversary; I lost my husband last year 3 months 19 days before our 50th anniversary. This year has been extremely difficult. I found your channel two weeks ago. I’ve decided that at 72, I don’t have to just curl up in a ball and hide in my house. I’ve started going back to the gym and doing virtual walks through Conqueror Challenge. I’ve climbed Mt. Everest and am now swimming the English Channel! I’ve thrown out most of my outdated makeup - I’ve worn the same type of makeup for 30+ years. Soon turning 73, and it’s time for me!

I will comment regarding creativity. I was a single mom with three kids and went back to school for graphic design in the 90’s. I graduated and did not do much after in the way of art. I have lots of unopened art supplies in my closet just waiting for me to open and tap into that part of me that has always been there. I dream of having art displayed in an art gallery. I need to make this happen. Thanks for the reminder. This is how women help each other……you’re amazing.

Hi Nikol. Thanks for the video. I must say I am in my 70s, pretty strong and full of energy, healthy and independent. All I want to do now is enjoy my life without any pressure to be creative or otherwise. Travel, golfing, getting together with family, and friends, walk in nature, Pilates and meditation, reading, watching videos, this is what fills my heart, will you please do a video addressing these points?
Sometimes we women that want to live our best lives doing what we want without pressure to perform are not being encouraged to do just that. Cheers!! And thanks for the ear. BTW, I just ordered the book that you recommended, thanks again!

Like most people, I have gone through 'stuff'. This last year I decided to restart my photography business. I've been a photographer for 45 years. With a huge move in our life and me turning 65 soon, I thought I had retired. I couldn't lose that part of me too. I'm feeling alive again. I just opened a new studio space. I do take HRT. It is a constant adjustment to keep me level and feeling like myself. But truly worth it. Working every day to surround myself with positive! Love your channel it is part of my feel good, go to places.

Hi Nikol, you are spot on with this. After I got divorced, I got laid off from my job. After spending a significant amount of time lying in bed, I realized I can do whatever I want. I always wanted to be a scientist, so I got a job in the environmental field, and I start my last class for my Bachelors in Environmental Science tomorrow. Being 52 I questioned myself a lot, is it worth it? Is the earning potential going forward worth the expense. It all came down to this, this is what I want to do. This is what I've always wanted to do.
... I didn't have all those scary things during menopause. I stopped having a period. My mom was the same. I would say ask your mom and an aunt or grandma on your father's side their experience.

    • @opaldurham4818

  • @PeachesSkinCare

I said this in the short. I loved this🧡
I hear this all the time,
One day when my children are grown?
One day when I have enough money ?
One day when I don’t have so much going on?
I have to ask my husband?
    One day?
It always breaks my heart that women , especially, put themselves at the back of the line. I think it is why so many of us gain weight, age rapidly, get depressed? We take care of everyone else but ourselves. How can we expect to be confident and good for anyone else when we don’t honor who we are and our bodies and our souls. You need to care for yourself and love yourself and own who you are at every age. Stop comparing and be you!
This was a blessing to so many I am sure.
    🙌🏻🍑🧡Lisa

Nicol good for you, menopause is something every woman is going to go through, this is a healthy outlook that you have! Nothing that you should be afraid of or alarmed about, it is natural for every woman in the world. I love your approach to life, health, make-up and so much more. I'm so glad I found your channel, I will be seventy my next birthday and I am so looking forward to that year. I have evolved through the years and I am so grateful for utube and the fact that I can view other seventy, eighty or ninety year old people. Their pictures and what works for them and what doesn't. Im teaching my children a lot about life and to also love urself…please don’t stop making these videos. the menopause years were not That Bad ... if you eat right, exercise, and have the right mind-set - just like all of life. sure, there are some extra discomforts - just like all of life. we get thru it and it's fine - even great on the other side. different, but a new great. you continue to eat right, exercise and have the right mind-set. i feel better in my mid-60's than i did in my 20's, 30's, 40's ... very nice! heck, I didn't want to go thru adolescence! i loved being 10! ... but life got better. it gets better again! love you, nikol! ♥ (p.s. i'm ordering the book 🙂)

I will turn 64 in a couple of months and while I’m not thrilled at the loose skin and wrinkles in my mirror, I am also not afraid of them. Ageing is what it is. I have always looked at it as learning. If we choose to. Thank you for being a source of positivity! Love your videos. BTW, don’t fear menopause. Everyone’s experience is different and you’ll do you. Frankly, I chose to see the positive side of it!

Contradicting to start off with Jamie positive thoughts & then fall into the NEGATIVE menopause chat /:
FOR ME knowing my body has been my best resource! After my Son was born I had horrible cycles when I stopped Breast feeding around 9 months. Went to Dr & sure enough I had a detached uterus w cancerous growths … I went into surgery not knowing exactly what the outcome would be. Had a hysterectomy but my ovaries were ok & I didn’t need any cancer treatment . I felt blessed I had my 2 children … I was 29. About age 36 I couldn’t stay awake … just tired all the time . My Gyno said my levels of estrogen were low & I started estrogen therapy … I can’t say today looking back that I would have not done that … because I felt GREAT! Fast forward 60’s still taking estrogen I felt lousy & had pain in my pelvic area . The ovaries were the size of grapefruits & removed. Now my estrogen therapy had a little kick added to it testosterone … I know right ! Again I felt GREAT ! Few years down the road felt a lump in my breast … yup cancer ! Double mastectomy & my estrogen was first thing to go! I had all the hot flashes at the oddest times … but it reminded me that my body was working ! Sent me back to my breastfeeding days & how I had to put pressure on my breasts when the milk was coming in at the grocery store… As a woman I think embracing the cycles of life is key! I also made my own decisions on my cancer treatment … I was told after 3 opinions I needed CHEMO… I sat on the floor with all the papers having a glass of wine 🍷 & said NO … to ALL the side affects & 10 years of a prescription also with horrible side affects ! I know my body & I would not have survived ! I put it all in a folder in the back of my closet . I’m 10 years surviving & no prescription drugs… & I feel GREAT! I’m glad I listened to ME … I’m 70
    I’m a new subscriber & LOVE your videos ! 🥰

Hi Nikol, I'm 65, just sold my house, downsized to a rentable condo and bought a camper van. I decked it out with glamping accessories like a faux fur throw and lacquer bed tray for enjoying pour over coffee in bed with countless free, million dollar views! Heading out in April for the adventure of my lifetime. It's never too late! 💖🌄💖

All I can say is as I entered menopause, I had very few symptoms. But some symptoms I assumed where just natural part of aging and I needed to just accept and deal with. Needless to say, one particular issue put a strain on my marriage. Finally I went to see a menopause specialist and she put me on some topical hormones that changed everything. I wish I’d done it so much sooner. The moral of this story is not to wait and accept uncomfortable symptoms as the “new norm.” Talk to menopause specialist and be open to try new things. It could be life changing!

I was one lucky lady. Menopause was a breeze for me. No hot flashes, no crying jags, no bloatng, no mental breakdowns. Just a gradual transition. As far as having a positive attitude and trying to see the best of any situation, that's pretty much how I try to conduct my daily life. With a husband who is the exact opposite, I have my work cut out for me. 😂 But perseverance is the motto I live by. 😊. A positive attitude adds to the beauty of your life. Inside and outside. Your positive attitude and the desire to help others achieve their best potential is a gift to all of us. Thank you, Nikol.

Menopause was a breeze for me also. I had contributed it to exercise and vitamins my whole life. My doctor of course immediately wanted me to start estrogen meds, but I had done my own homework and decided against going that route. Always been a happy camper for my decision. 😀

No estrogen for me either. In fact, I've never had to take any medications other than an aspirin for the occasional headache. I'm not a health nut by any means so I'm going with good genetics and a positive attitude! 😊

I thought menopause was just about hot flashes until I found Menopause Taylor (TH-cam) and learned (still learning) there is much more and it is silent.

Hi Nikol, I first want to tell you how beautiful you look! Your makeup, hair, great lip color and elegantly done!
My husband and I are both in our mid 70’s and we recently paid off all our debt. What a liberating feeling. I am the everyday kind of spender, my husband is the one that wants to take expensive trips, which of course I love as well. The thing is anything is possible! When o was a much younger woman I was obsessed with “the power of positive thinking” and you video reminds me of that raw truth! It was 2 yrs ago when we discussed getting part-time jobs to pay off our debt ( tens of thousands ) and with determination and commitment we succeeded.
Thank you so much for putting that positive video together. It is perfect. Now I’m going to order that book for living a luxurious life on a budget! We just have to keep moving in right direction and the universe moves with us!! Have a blessed day!♥️

Yes! Listen to Jamie Lee Curtis, go for it❤️ beautiful ❣️. Don’t listen to other’s about menopause. How was your mother’s? I think you are preparing for peri menopause by taking care of yourself health wise positively in what you’re doing. You have great attitudes. If you need to, see a Functional Medicine doctor ( an MD who thinks outside the box ), preferably a woman, if need be, definitely not a male doctor! Never take no for an answer, there’s always a different approach. I didn’t have that advantage years ago, as I’m 73, and went through a medical menopause at 39… not good. You go Beautiful, you can do it! By the way, your videos ALWAYS make my day or night so much brighter, thank, Nikol 🙏🏻❤️ you are special.

We told him about our music ministry & he that when he sees us we always look so relaxed & that there is an aura about us. We ended up sharing the gospel with him. We have an opportunity to go back to mission in South Africa so we are praying about that, hoping to get back to serve alongside our “family “ there. Thank you!!! You just reinforced what I started trying to do. I needed that encouragement when I keep being told I'm untidy and disorganized because I do artwork. You cant put it all away neatly in a drawer every day... you need to keep looking at it and assessing it for what you need to do to improve it. Sometimes the battle is other people who are not like minded and cant see what you can see.
If it's a partner..you cant just dump him, but it needs strength of will to fight it and press on regardless. Thank you for the affirmation.

This would have to be one of your Best videos Ever, everyone is different and you shouldn’t be scared or have those feelings when the time comes for you to go through Menopause, I’m 62 years young and that’s how I feel “Young”, I approached Menopause at a very young age back when I was only 31 years young and to this day I haven’t suffered anywhere near what I hear from some people here on TH-cam, I personally think you’ve done the best thing for yourself in getting that book to read, the only thing that made me wonder whether I was going through something was when my youngest son was growing up and doing what every other teenager was doing but I thought I couldn’t handle it until I found out that my hormones were fighting against one another, other than that I was okay, don’t listen to how and what others went through Menopause, we are all individually different and that goes for Menopause as well, some will breeze through it yet others will have the hot flushes, mood swings and plenty of other symptoms, my advice is to just take it in your stride and deal with it once or if it comes, We Are Women Hear Us Roar, your a headstrong woman and I’m sure you’ll be okay and just fine when your time comes, you may not even know your going through Menopause until your period stops and you carry on with Life just as you always have, nothing really changed for me other than not having my period because I had to have a Hysterectomy @31 years young but only my periods stopped and it was years later that I thought I was going through Menopause, it’s all in your mindset, that’s just my opinion from my own experience, Menopause was easy, I wish other things in my life were as easy, I kind of avoid channel’s here on TH-cam that blame everything on Menopause or if the influencer is talking about it, I’m just not interested, it’s a part of Life being a woman, Be Grateful that you get to the age of Menopause, many of my friends didn’t. ❤️❤️

With SO much going on in the world, and we being the age we are (older, DEFINITELY wiser with the knowledge from the years we've earned); it's ALWAYS a great reminder that heck, we can do WHATEVER we want and shouldn't let fear or feeling stagnant stop us from being who we are meant to be! Nikol, great video. I have Major Depressive Disorder. But I don’t let it stop me from doing new things and take control of my life. I am 73 and did a 11k marathon walk for my birthday along with my twin sister. I work out with a small group workout with a trainer. There are people who are 20 years younger me in my group. They tease that I am a monster because of the weights I am able to lift. My code I live by is “ I can’t control everything that happens in my life, I can only control how react to it.” Don’t get me wrong I still have days I am done and then I have remind myself to get up and do something.

My period stopped dead at 47. I went through menopause with very few symptoms. So glad I never read scary things about it. I only feel warmer than before. Not hot flashes, just can get warm drinking coffee or tea and it’s just sometimes not always. Also, you still get estrogen after menopause if you still have your ovaries. Estrogen is reduced but not gone totally.

Menopause is different for everyone. When I was 53, I asked my primary care doctor to do a blood test to see if I was getting close to menopause. I had a thermal ablation a few years before in my late 40’s (uterine fibroids) so no periods after that. My test came back and it said I already went through it. I scratched my head because I truly had nothing in the way of symptoms to tell me I was going through it other than no periods. So…..Keep the faith and positive vibe that menopause is not so bad. I celebrate that I don’t have my period anymore! Life is so much easier.

I am 60 and have to admit I have become very bored and uninspired with the makeup I was using and listening to the endless "rules" of makeup application over a certain age, I felt invisible and actually quit purchasing makeup as it was not fun anymore to me. I have been ordering frequently now from your Fresh Beauty site and am falling in love with makeup all over again! It has actually made me feel empowered again. BTW I spoke with you on the phone yesterday about the cool bisque concealer/corrector I had ordered and thought it was so cool to hear you answer the phone and later that night I purchased another order! Hi there Beautiful Nicole😊! Wow today you covered So many very important points which we take for granted i.e. no. 1. our health..just to mention The most important for me..I'm in Perfect health!
Your opening statement couldn't have rung truer! JLC quote. Perfect timing..Crazy! but I Just finished painting some doors in my house..I Needed a Change,. Some colour, some refreshment. Bought new curtains and some other changes. ..I have to say this..MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL..YOU HELPED AND INSPIRED ME to be Brave about going grey. My hairdresser said he would Not colour my hair any more, and gave me a fantastic cut!!!...which ppl have said is stunning..I'm 63 very Y@❤️ over the years..had pixies, ShaggIES .Bob and shou inlder length.but I'm lovin my hair Now. Write The book yes its on the back burner. piano...need to schedule a daily Time slot to practise. I played in concerts from age 10-17..then became a rebel. Suffered from what's now called burn out..of Course I'm very sad that I neglected my true vocation. .I might have been famous on a small scale (!😅😅 Who am I kidding 😂)
About the menopause, I don't recall feeling anything unusual like hot flushes . Mb some days during which it was occurring, I presume it was that.. I had anxiety attacks. But that was not unusual for me in my job. My period just stopped. My to do list is still very long..many places to see. I said to my husband..I'd like to go to Aruba!! ( just to mention one place) He replied, But we've been there! . But when you go on several cruise ship holidays one tends to forget Where you went.😅😅 But we have the photos..
So, I buy only the best things for myself, I pamper myself..I say to myself I am Important to Me. Actually, I have noticed that women in their sixties and seventies wear very beautiful, funky outfits, bright colours not at all granny ish. There's definitely been a shift in ageism.. I'm enjoying my life now because I realized life is Not a rehearsal..it Now or Never.😂😂. I'm going to buy the book you suggested as my Go To mantra😊 .. and last but not least I Love your character, your playful attitude, your Style and grace and Your Channel! Thank You 💞💞💞🚀

Oh Nichole, I needed this video, it was clear, defining and from your heart. Thank you, my beautiful warm hearted friend. I have projects that need to be finished. But for one reason or another I neglected. After seeing your video I am going to finish all of them, one at a time. Some are for friends and family. Thanks again for this video. xoxo

Well said all around. Everybody has a story - theirs may not reflect your future experience. As a poster girl for procrastination I am full speed ahead a plan to delegate the distractions that contribute to the condition - long as I don’t get distracted, which of course is the circular Pit of Rationalization.
And Hoo-Ray for your musical talent! Last summer at an outdoor luncheon for friends of a major American orchestra, the ensemble’s principal oboe gave a half-hour recital of music for solo oboe. Nobody in the group knew that there was ANY classical repertoire for solo oboe. He enlightened us entertainingly.
Your videos are always thoughtful, even when showing us how to get that eyeliner right.

Absolutely...I am 83, and writing my second and third book....I have the role model of my mother who could have been president of the USA until age 90. Feminism meant nothing to me as my mother was fully developed all through my childhood...She was never a downtrodden woman nor were her friends....And I feel the same no matter my age.

@@NikolJohnson Thank you very much. Many of my Mother's contemporaries really didn't understand her.....thought she was odd. She laughed as their opinion meant nothing to her!....Just do it was her motivation. Why Not?...She was a Phi Beta Kappa from UC Berkeley with an MBA in economics. She felt sorry for women stuck in the home....I am no haus frau, she often said. It has always been my opinion to follow your God given natural talents. These are your guide. We are all gifted in some way, and it is our responsibility to discover what this means. When understood, one steps into it with faith and a certain innocence, and the doors swing open. There is a knowing and simplicity to it.
