      @@beardedgreek9069 that's just sherlock holmes. Holmes is actually stupidly strong in the books-- he just pretty much never uses his muscular strength. I can remember him using his strength all of 2 times across all 60 stories, once when he first meets Watson and shakes his hand-- holmes almost dislocates Watson's entire arm without even realizing it, and another time where he unties a steel poker without batting an eye and then puts it away to forget about.

Here's one: Give me an exemple of a natural sequence of words you could read out loud, but where it would take you about a minute before you arrive at any word that includes the letter "a". The answer: just start counting! One, two, three, four, five, six, etc. First word with an "a" will be hundred And one. :- )

      So in defense of Jack Reacher.. the author Lee Child is British and judging from his literary works he can be pretty hit or miss on his firearms knowledge.
      Although 95 gr. is light for a 9mm, it’s HEAVY for the 9mm Short aka the .380, the same caliber found in James Bond’s weapon of choice - the Walter PPK.
      Lee Child is not only British, but he’s also a product of British Spy Novels and European gun culture. He was born soon after WW2 and was raised in Cold War Europe. If you look at his works not as an American but through the lens of a European, it kinda starts making sense.. I guess lol

    Actually he’s completely wrong. To get subsonic in a 9mm you need a heavy bullet. Like a 147gr on up. A 95gr bullet in a 9mm is uncommon. It would difficult or impossible to keep a 95 grain bullet subsonic and have the recoil to run the slide.

    • @Valterius87
      @Valterius87 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I said that in another video. 147 or above with a suppressor would be loud, but much harder to hear. Apparently the writers don't understand that a lighter projectile with the same powder load will move much faster, creating a crack that is unmistakable.

      @@TheVergile Lee Child's (or the TV producers)...Reacher claims the BULLETS were 9mm 95gr subsonic. This interpretation of the data is almost patently wrong.
      A person that "knows firearms well" would know that making a silenced 95 gr .355(actual)/9mm caliber _reliably subsonic_ (below 1125fps) is questionable...and really only achievable by hand loading. Note: The lowest my reloading charts go for the 9mm is 1100fps...giving loading tolerances too close to ensure subsonic performance for every load depending on atmospheric conditions.
      But you are correct in saying this readily achievable for a silenced .380 pistol...something with a fixed barrel pistol like the Walther PP/PPK. That said, I would argue the scenario presented is effectively unrealistic. If I'm planning on killing someone possibly armed in the dark with an silenced open sight pistol at 15-25yds, I wouldn't use a .380acp Walther PP/PPK with 95gr bullets. Keeping within the 9mm reference, I would use a silenced 9mm with a choice of 147gr or 124gr bullets.

    So, little inaccuracy here, lighter projectiles from a 9mm like the 95gr he mentioned would be faster, not slower and thus would NOT be subsonic. A heavier round such as a 147gr would in fact be slower and subsonic and therefor a better choice for a suppressed firearm

I guess lol

    There's a script problem with the second clip. A 9mm round using 95 grain projectiles would NOT be subsonic, therefor useless in a suppressed weapon. Lighter projectiles go FASTER, not slower.
