The way Tom Baker acts when he first leaves the Tardis and looks for the cartoon is so authentic to the Doctor. It's like this is just one of his many adventures.
It's amazing to see Baker so subdued, his voice is incredibly relaxing and soothing to listen to here, makes me think he should do some of those sleep tapes.
@@JohnSmith-be1vl seemed like a pretty typical RTD season of the show to me, just with a bigger budget. Which is literally all Disney’s contributing, they have no creative input.
Filmed at the Odeon St. Martin's Lane near Leicester Square. It was known as "the home of Disney movies" and was themed inside, as you can see in the interior shots. Brings back memories of going to see Bambi there in the 70s! Thanks for the memories. As a big Dr Who fan, this is a complete nostalgia fest.
I’m greatly impressed by Tom Baker’s line readings in these segments. It’s very theatrical and poised, yet also relaxed, like a parent telling stories to an eager child. I don’t think he gets enough credit as an actor, as his Dr. Who was seen as comical or clownish by many, but he has many depths to his most famous character. Great video, thanks for sharing!
My first introduction to Tom Baker was as Puddleglum in the BBC adaptation of Chronicles of Narnia: the Silver chair. It was a mellowdramatic performance. But he was still Tom Baker.
In an interview, Tom Baker said he never rated his acting, but when he became the Doctor, he basically portrayed himself, and that’s why I think people love him like it.
Tom had to appear in character as the Doctor because the previous year Jon Pertwee had presented the show as himself and there were complaints that it had 'ruined the illusion'.
"And it's time to say goodbye to all of you! But, I'll be seeing you again very soon. Next Saturday, in fact. Goodbye!" The Saturday after this, the premier broadcast of "Terror of the Zygons" Part 1 was aired, Sept. 6, 1975.
to actually place this in some form of canon to Who (despite it being not Canon and Tom is pretty much breaking fourth wall) I take it it's meant to be set in between Revenge of the Cybermen and Terror of the Zygons, as the Doctor's message from the Brigadiar prompts his leave and the next and then last screen time in the 70's for the Brigadiar was Terror of the Zygons...
I like to think it would be either between Revenge of the Cybermen and Terror of the Zygons (judging from Tom's outfit and the call from the Brigadier) or between The Deadly Assassin and The Face of Evil (due to the Doctor not having any companions and the Doctor had already got the call from the Brig at the end of Revenge of the Cybermen so maybe he gets another between The Deadly Assassin and The Face of Evil). But yeah, this was aired just before Terror of the Zygons and was suppose to be a lead-in at the end.
That tardis prop didn't last much longer either, the roof fell in and it fell apart from continual use since 63 ,so a new one that even failed to replicate a real police box even more was built
@1:17 -- hilarious in hindsight given his role as Redbeard Rum in Blackadder some ten years after these links were shot...And again around 2:15, as the Fourth Doctor, Sarah and Harry met Robin Hood in a recently-released novel set just before Terror of the Zygons...
I would have loved to have seen the opening scene in an actual Dr. Who with the 4th asking about Micky Mouse and Donald Duck. That would have been great. Very hilarious.
So odd to see The Doctor introduce Disney Films. Sorta puts things into perspective really. Still I guess it's not all too far fetched. After all Disney XD aired some Tennant stories, albeit cut for time and content, but still. Very odd, but very cool.
Always great to see additional footage of the doctors why hasn't this made it to a blu ray boxset hopefully it's added when they release a season 13 boxset.
I remember this episode of Disney Time. The programme would be on at holidays with a famous guest presenter. The show would let the viewer know what new films and releases were coming out.
Seeing as he doesn't break the fourth wall until after he enters the cinema, it could be said the rest is seem from the point of view of some unseen (and possibly hitherto unknown) companion(s) met In the cinema.
Didn't fans lose their minds when the 1st Doctor broke the 4th wall and wished everyone a "Merry Christmas" during 'The Feast of Steven' episode. 😂 This is a hundred times better!
I wish he hadn't said 'Apple Dumpling Gang' as I remember that was a special treat for us kids one Christmas. Later on they also thought we teenagers would enjoy 'Annie'... Tom in the interregnum between Seasons 12 and 13, I believe. Is it canon? Some say yes, some say no...
If he could commentate on Disney films, then he could do anime. Like InuYasha, Sword Art Online, Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, etc. That would be freakin’ awesome!! (God, I’m such a dork, lol) XD
@@DrWhoFanJ He most definitely is. Always baiting fans that are upset with the direction of the show and crying about "white mediocrity". If he was a white bigot he'd (rightfully) be publicly shamed and ignored.
My only complaint is that I wish that while Tom Baker was talking about the apple dumpling gang he would mention Bill Bixby! How ironic that 2 years later Bill Bixby would be in the Incredible Hulk TV series!
Anyone else find it hilarious that the Brigadier's first instinct to reach out to the Doctor was writing him a letter and somehow through time and space it actually reached him?
Well-read Tom is actually pronouncing it correctly, the way that Kipling intended - with the "Mow..." rhyming with "cow". The American pronunciation, and the one that's used in the film changes it to a "go" rhyme.

it all leads to unit

Now that Doctor Who is coming to Disney+, this all comes full circle.
What's coming to disney is not dr who 😖😖😖
As Decider Draith said to Dexeter
@@otisdriftwood1697 you’re correct, what’s coming to Disney is _Doctor_ Who.

You know you're getting old when Tom Baker looks younger than yourself.
If Tom Baker could commentate all Disney movies, the world would be a better place.
That would be awesome amen to that

Nobody beats T. Baker as the Doc 👍
I agree - I am often impressed by Tom Baker's acting abilities. He is always utterly convincing and mesmerising.
My first introduction to Tom Baker was as Puddleglum in the BBC adaptation of Chronicles of Narnia: the Silver chair. It was a mellowdramatic performance. But he was still Tom Baker.
That’s the point. Baker’s kind of eccentric, just like his Doctor.
In an interview, Tom Baker said he never rated his acting, but when he became the Doctor, he basically portrayed himself, and that’s why I think people love him like it.
He said, ''Dogs don't talk'', then he met k9 two years later.
In the year 5000.
😄👍
Nice one
To be fair K9 is artificial intelligence and not an animated dog
He looks so youthful and good here. Love that that he has no eyebrows, or perhaps they are just delicate.
Home slice needs ABH Dipbrow
I think they're covered up by his hairline.
Just like the Mona Lisa
4:29 Brig is now canonically a Disney character
😀👍
The good old days. I so miss this time era.

A shame Sarah and Harry missed out!
The Doctor has spoken to the viewers before; remember "The Feast of Steven?"
What if in the Whoniverse they actually hired Doctor Who to present Disney Time though
@@jerobriggs6861 it has to be before the hand of fear, as the Tardis is still the original Brachacki prop

I have never seen these in such good quality. Thank you!
Fantastic Quality!
People complain thar Ncuti Gatwa is “disney” but yet Tom Baker was the first Doctor to be “part” of disney!
I would have loved to have seen the opening scene in an actual Dr. Who with the 4th asking about Micky Mouse and Donald Duck. That would have been great. Very hilarious.
That's an interesting swatch on the Doctor's scarf at 2.35
Avid Whovian for 40 years, this is my first time knowing of this.
With Doctor Who going on Disney Plus, I wish this was on there
Yes. It might remind Disney of what values their films should contain.
I'm confused... what serial is this from? The Deadly Aladdin? Snow White and the Seven Daleks?
Love he commented on Witch Mountain!
The immortal Richard Evans will always be my favourite Doctor !
I've always thought Bedknobs and Broomsticks would make a great Doctor Who.

true so this is a US/UK thing noice (no wonder tom got to voice Bendu in Star Wars Rebels)
i never got to see it on disney xd since my family switched to internet only provider around that time span.
He said that he passed Mars, did he pass Pluto as well?

It would be absurdly expensive to license all the Disney films and music for something like this.
4:24 Thank you, Thing.
THIS IS AWESOME
Oh wow this day 45 years ago. Amazing. I wait for the young people to ask why he did not show a clip of Lion King when he talked about Lions.
So that’s how I saw the tenth doctor in Disney
This is the Fourth.
obsessed with him working the ticket booth and not charging kids
4:24
I believe I had a version of Terror of the Zygons downloaded that had this part onwards play at the start of the first episode
This may or may not have predicted the future.
Just like Mark Hamill and the Muppets singing "When you wish upon a star" foreshadows to Disney annexations of the latter and Star Wars
I love how battered the TARDIS was at that point
..it didn't last much longer, fell apart not long after and a new prop built
To be fair that prop was as old as the show itself at that point.
I remember this episode of Disney Time. The programme would be on at holidays with a famous guest presenter. The show would let the viewer know what new films and releases were coming out.

He could narrate or present the telephone directory.
Anything to entertain his fans, nothing was too much as Doctor Who for Tom Baker.
Do you have the complete recording of the episode?
Wait, so I can see my favourite character from my favourite TV show talk about my favourite animated movie (Lady and the Tramp)? Best timeline.
Bank holiday disney time & Screen Test were great progs when we had 3 channels, real celebrities & no VCR!

"All teeth and curls" jon pertwee the five doctors
Tom baker is my sixth favourite doctor who actor and here is in character as the fourth doctor

1:44 give her a jellybaby !!
It would have been cool if The Doctor was in The MCU
What was the name of the movie at 03:38?
Return of the Big Cat.
I had no idea these existed, I'm guessing for legal reasons these couldn't be put on something like a bonus feature on a blu ray set
The last segment (with the Doctor receiving a message) was included as an introduction to the VHS of Terror of the Zygons.
It’s not so much legal reasons as cost reasons. Every single film and music clip would need licensing.
This has played well now BBC and Disney are partnered to do stuff for Doctor Who
Awesome

And this is why Dr Who is on Disney Plus.
Is this a look into the future with doctor who and Disney plus 😅
And Disney+ is gonna be the new home for Doctor Who.
Wonder what happened to that prop of the Tardis
I think the roof collapsed & they had to build a new one.
Hoping Ncuti does something like this for a Disney+ special
He shouldn't. He's divisive and rather hateful towards a large chunk of his audience.
