  • A common problem for GM/Chevrolet 5.3L V8 engines from 2007 to 2014 is the oil pressure sensor. Check engine codes P0521 and P0523.

    Thanks a lot for your video. It was super helpful, took me about 40 mins to replace. The screen and the clip coming out was just the only pain lol, new ones going in and tightening was like 5 mins 👏🏾 👏🏾

    I like this guy!!!!! Some weirdo on another vehicle said, "take off the entire manifold "........ wtf? This video was the best so far!!!

      @R3YNZ ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not weird at all, that's what GM calls for in the service procedure. If you scroll further to one of OP's replies, it took him two hours to do just this.

    Thanks for the video. It gave me the confidence to do it my self. Took about an hr for me. The freakin connector was the most frustrating by far. I jammed 3 q-tips into the screen and it pulled right out. Oil pressure guage working fine now.

    Used: deep-well -> universal -> 2" extension -> wobble joint -> ratchet - put me right on top. Of course needed two hands to hold things steady when applying torque.
    Thanks for the hints on the tab removal - I ended up popping mine up with a long pick - and of course - lost it.... new unit still clicks in.
    Also, another youtube video describes using a 'correct size' bolt to pull the filter out - that is what worked for me. I sized the bolt based off the new filter.

    Good video overall. Some suggestions, remove the two evap lines and the fuel line at the fuel rail. Use a dremel to trim the heat shield and it makes life so mich easier!

    I found your video because I've been struggling to get the plug off on our '14 Suburban. Several hours, multiple tools, even with the grey tab pulled completely off and a very chewed up hand, not even a wiggle. I'm pushing in the tab but nothing! Any suggestions?

    So I changed the oil on my pick up and after that it started shaking and would kick every time I try to drive it what could it be?

    • @outdoorrelaxation5511
      @outdoorrelaxation5511 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That could be too much oil or its not tourqed down enough which is causing loss in pressure and a mis fire on all cylinders

      @outdoorrelaxation5511 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also check all evap hoses make sure you didn't bump any loose

    In my 2013 the pressure is at 40 when cold start, then go down .... do you think I have to replace the sensor or carter tube gasket?

    • @lopezdad30
      @lopezdad30 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have the same issue with my 2008. Starts up cold just fine with pressure around 40 but after some time of driving it goes down and the dash lights up " oil pressure low"

      Did you find a solution?

    • @alfonsosalazar6316
      @alfonsosalazar6316 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sarge6252 Not totally. Just got few PSI, but the gauge still drop to 1/4
      We did all this:
      Engine flush (inside wash)
      Pick up tube O-ring replaced
      Sensor & Screen changed
      Thicker oil use, new filter.
      Pressure relief valve replace
      Crankshaft seal change

    Can the sensor be the problem if the oil pressure is low say 20lbs. My 09 Avalanche just acted up the other day. Never a problem before- 197,000 miles.

      Did you figure out out!!??

    • @garya9875
      @garya9875 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lopezdad30 My 09 Avalanche has that really small oil filter-I did a filter and oil change and pressure is normal now and have never had a problem since. That filter was my problem no doubt in my mind.

    • @lopezdad30
      @lopezdad30 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @garya9875 is that the small screen that goes inside the OPS !!??

  • @frankthomas2052
    @frankthomas2052 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Was it dropping oil pressure or just throwing the code

    • @outlulz4758
      @outlulz4758  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The sensor was bad. There was no issue with the actual oil pressure in this instance

  • @jenniferlacaze6870
    @jenniferlacaze6870 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can you still drive vehicle without causing damage with these codes?

    • @outlulz4758
      @outlulz4758  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically yes, you can still drive the vehicle. However if there is a larger issue that causes loss of oil pressure there will not be a way to know without the functioning gauge in the dash cluster

      The vid has been edited. This took approximately 2 hours with the proper tools (including the GM certified block'awood)
