I used to have an old edition of this bible.I got rid of it because the precept website had the blank charts w/key words, etc for free. The website was redone this year and all of that was taken way, so I'm going to buy the newer version of the bible so I can have those resources. I like the keywords. Makes it easier to know what to mark instead of having to take time to find what words I should mark.
I bought one of Kay Arthur's Bibles about twenty years ago. I was horrified at the cheap construction; mine was falling apart upon first opening. I see that Harvest House hasn't been able to resist farming their printing out to Red China. I'm a guy who is happy to spent $250 on a good Schuyler or Cambridge because I believe our Lord deserves the best. After all, when David and Solomon planned the temple they didn't go to Wal Mart for their supplies! This concept is so fine for a Bible; it's a shame that the execution is so lacking. Definitely notice that there are some quality issues in some of the printings from China. Mainly the paper. The ones that I am seeing from Crossway and Zondervan have been really good lately. We will see if it continues to be the case.
@@DualLaneProductions I don't want to sound jingoistic, but doesn't China make enough off the free world without co-opting our religious books also? Zondervan has been all about profit since the fifties, but surprised that Crossway has strayed.
Thank you for this great review. I have so many study bibles now that it's hard to decide which ones to buy and which ones to hold off on. This looks like a very good SB for really taking a deep dive into the bible. I am new to the bible and just starting to read/study it so the hardest part for me is deciding which one to use...Right now I'm thinking of using my Archeological study bible...but I will probably try to use/reference all of the ones I have to see the differences and get the most information that I can. Thanks again!
My wife teaches the inductive Bible study using at least 4-5 different bibles, commentaries, and notes. So we definitely believe in having a few different versions to compare with.
