29 Palms. Spent 21/2 years there before going to Oki and loved it. Close to LA, SD and Vegas. Lots of parties in Riverside (March AFB ) and San Bernardino (Norton AFB). Good times.
My favorite duty was a med cruise out of Lejeune. We hit a new port about every 6-10 days. Barcelona, Valencia, Mallorca, Cannes, Nice, Monaco plus Sicily, Sardinia and Rome. Gibraltar, Port Said in Egypt, Cyprus and Malta. Of course we had to pull duty in Beirut for 30 days with another 20 days in Naples. As an NCO when in port I volunteered for shore patrol. That way I got to go ashore even on my duty day.
You must have been at LeJeune during my first tour there. 76-78. Went there from WestPac. Didn't like LeJeune, but loved the Med cruises. I got out in 78, went home stayed 14 days, got fed up with civilian bullshit, and re-upped to go back to WestPac and Okinawa.
Would like to nominate Camp Smith in Aiea Heights overlooking Pearl Harbor. Hq of FMFPac and CinCPac. Did 2 years there. Great Spring-like weather year round due to slight upland elevation and access to island attractions. Also view of island sunsets every day.

MCBH is the worst duty station by far. So expensive, so many tourists, middle of nowhere in the ocean. After a while you’ve already done everything there is to do. The base itself is small, old, and garbage absolutely nothing on base. It’s a good visiting state not a good state to live in. @Nicholas Catino yes I remember the Fall of Saigon. I was TAD to 1/9th Marines in March 75. I helped with paperwork as they were loading the USS Blue Ridge at White Beach. I thought for sure I'd be going with 1/9 to Vietnam. For some reason, several of us were sent back 3rd FSR (Force Service Regiment). To this day I have no idea why we were returned. The marines had more more bases in Hawaii besides Kaneohe, Pearl Harbor and Camp Smith, during WWII there was the Ewa Field before the Navy took over and the Marine Camp on Kauai.
I was on Hawaii and no it's not it. Everyone I was there with, hated it. Why? Because once you do the beach....... there ain't much left. You get "island fever" and the locals hate you. Even the base is tiny, you run into the same people all over the place. MCBH sounds cool... but it quickly gets old.
I stay on Topsail Island all the time. Known for it's Shells. One of the private Military Base is across the North Inlet. They fly over Island real low all the time.
My best duty station was at base special services, headquarters company, headquarters regiment, motor transport detachment at 13 area, Camp Pendleton ca. no weapons issued, no formations, no inspections. We just had to transport Marines, civilian workers to their destinations. And we took Marines and dependents to places like Disneyland, knots berry farm, and sometimes to dodger baseball games at dodger stadium. There was no better duty station.
I earned my EGA and became a proficient rifleman in Camp Pendleton. I hope I get stationed there. Plus I’m currently at my MOS school in 29 Palms, so once I hit the fleet it should just be a 3 hour bus ride to Pendleton, if that’s where my PDS is.
Quantico? Not a Marine but Virginia native. Should be near the bottom. Miserably humid n the Summer. Can be very cold in the Winter. DC traffic, DC housing costs! On the other hand, you have Cali and Hawaii costs.....😮
Depending on your job like if I choose infantry is there a base they would most likely send me to? I asked someone and they said I would meet likely get sent out to the west side like cali but they were army and I plan on going marine infantry
If you’re infantry you want to be sent to Twentynine Palms California. It gets really hot, and is in the middle of the desert, but it’s a blast. Three hours from Vegas, San Diego, and LA, and the best training you will get in the marines
Disagree with Hawaii, buddy was stationed there. He got a girl friend and was able to go out to her place on liberty otherwise he couldn’t afford to go off base.
My experience revealed that unlike the Chair Force and other branches, attractive duty stations was never one of the Marines finer points. Subic bay and the Canal Zone posts were the best but now both decades gone. K-Bay is most popular now even while Marines insist it's entirely too expensive for low paid military personnel.
whoa... whoa.. whoa... there chief. I was chair force and was stationed at Thule AFB, know as, "The Top of The World". I guess if you call Arctic living attractive then maybe the chair force is for you.
Marine Infantry try to get a Victor unit and get in a MEU to the med. You never know what happens. I was 18 yrs old, months out of HS and in Kosovo with the mindset of "that escalated quickly"
I was stationed at MCAS-H NEW River NC. They were pretty gun ho in my opinion. Guam was next, and finally, Cherry Point NC. I was not impressed with any of these. places
the rock is the best duty station if you are combat arms i saw so much of Japan, PI, Korea and just missed Thailand and australia so long as no one does anything stoooopid and dont get a curfew or have to bring along a babysitter or be a babysitter. if you want to stay in one place FUJI base on the main land is the place for you.
Beaufort isn’t bad and neither is Parris Island if you’re a Marine (definitely sucks as a recruit). Savannah and Charleston are both an hour away or less, Jacksonville Florida is like 2 hours, Charlotte is like 4.
Bro, MCB Camp Butler is located on Okinawa. You should list the worse. I'd say MCB Camp Fuji sucks big-time. When I was there we lived in shitty ass Quonset huts. Just saying.
I spent 10 months at 29 Palms in 1973-74 for electronics school. Back then the PX was a Quonset hut and the bowling alley only had 3 lanes. Not much to do on base and town was 5 or 6 miles from our barracks(very few marines had cars). On Fridays you could catch an express bus to the USO in Hollywood for $5 returning Sunday. USO had free beds and showers. Made for a fun weekend. Base pay for a PFC then was $277 a month. I got about $100 each payday.
Camp Lejeune is just all around horrible. The training areas are swamp lands, there's absolutely nothing to do on base, and, if you want to do anything off base you need a car. No public transportation (at least when I was stationed there) outside of taxi cabs. It's just bad, being stationed there feels like a punishment after being at other bases.
when did camp butler move to Japan? It's been a long time since I was in, but Camp Butler was on Okinawa. I was stationed in Okinawa for two 13 month tours, one at camp McToures, and another year at camp Butler, Smedy D. In my day, the Okinawa people did not get along very well with the Japanese. It's a long story but worth researching. there was always talk of the okinawans wanting the marines to leave the island. maybe they finally did and moved to Japan at Iwokuni.

whoa... whoa.. whoa... there chief. I was chair force and was stationed at Thule AFB, know as, "The Top of The World". I guess if you call Arctic living attractive then maybe the chair force is for you.
Trell I want to see combat I can’t decide to go army infantry or marine infantry
Tbh Army you have a better chance
@@TrelltheGreat after this video I kind of want to go marines the duty station are cool asf I’m in ohio we dont even got a beach
Marine infantry man here, were not at war now so your shit outta luck. If you want to be a more specialized infantryman go marines
Little Hombre, ARMY is an acronym for (Aren't Really Marine Yet).
I was not impressed with any of these. places
Could I be stationed at the West Coast if I wanted to? Coming from the East Coast and going into the infantry.
Probably going East
So when u get out of your MOS school. They send u somewhere for how long? And where did u go?
4 years and Camp Lejeune
the rock is the best duty station if you are combat arms i saw so much of Japan, PI, Korea and just missed Thailand and australia so long as no one does anything stoooopid and dont get a curfew or have to bring along a babysitter or be a babysitter. if you want to stay in one place FUJI base on the main land is the place for you.
Hawaii is my first PDS😎
How u feel about camp lejejune toxic water lawsuit? Is that somthing to still be worry about
It is supposed to be cleaned up. However, if the govt covered it up once they will again
Uniform breakdown next?
I'll have to see what's in the line up but I got you
What about MCAS Beaufort SC?
That's not one of the main ones, isn't it a air base
@@TrelltheGreat yes getting stationed there in a week
C'mon man!
Beaufort isn’t bad and neither is Parris Island if you’re a Marine (definitely sucks as a recruit). Savannah and Charleston are both an hour away or less, Jacksonville Florida is like 2 hours, Charlotte is like 4.
LETS GO MARINE CORPS
💪
Best base Fuji base get there if you can.
1:55 that is just east coast weather.
Bro, MCB Camp Butler is located on Okinawa. You should list the worse. I'd say MCB Camp Fuji sucks big-time. When I was there we lived in shitty ass Quonset huts. Just saying.
😬
Going to iwakuni baby
💪🏽
Fr one the best places to get stationed. Just don't get complacent out there, it's too easy
@@mudai_ got any tips?
@@snooopybud4034 don't spend your weekends in the barracks 💯
Camp Pendleton is in Oceanside,CA , not San Diego. Thank you.
Me siento muy feliz de que mi hijo esté ahí
What about 29 palms ?
I spent 10 months at 29 Palms in 1973-74 for electronics school. Back then the PX was a Quonset hut and the bowling alley only had 3 lanes. Not much to do on base and town was 5 or 6 miles from our barracks(very few marines had cars). On Fridays you could catch an express bus to the USO in Hollywood for $5 returning Sunday. USO had free beds and showers. Made for a fun weekend. Base pay for a PFC then was $277 a month. I got about $100 each payday.
And Corea, can u talk about Corea pls?
Tokyo is not in Okinawa its over a 1000 miles away in a straight line
My best duty was MCRD San Diego !
This is a bogus ass list. After Camp Pendleton I swore it was going to be 29 Palms (Stumps)
The only good duty station in the Marine Corps is home 🙌
💯
#1 29 Palms
Iwakuni, Japan has to be number 1 by far
And where are the 0311 duty station
All of the above pretty much
Hawaii rains all the time.. as long as you don’t mind getting wet lol
😬😂
Camp Lejeune is just all around horrible. The training areas are swamp lands, there's absolutely nothing to do on base, and, if you want to do anything off base you need a car. No public transportation (at least when I was stationed there) outside of taxi cabs. It's just bad, being stationed there feels like a punishment after being at other bases.
No Miramar??
when did camp butler move to Japan? It's been a long time since I was in, but Camp Butler was on Okinawa. I was stationed in Okinawa for two 13 month tours, one at camp McToures, and another year at camp Butler, Smedy D. In my day, the Okinawa people did not get along very well with the Japanese. It's a long story but worth researching. there was always talk of the okinawans wanting the marines to leave the island. maybe they finally did and moved to Japan at Iwokuni.
Okinawa is technically in Japan. It has been since 1972.
You’ll spend your while check In Hawaii it’s too expensive
I’m tryna know what them barracks talking bout.
Do u get to choose?
