  • Who was Craig Kelly? To a generation of snowboarders, "... he was an immortal superhero born from a blizzard
on a sleeping volcano. He levitated down mountains, raced avalanches, aired
cliffs, and landed on the covers of magazines. “If gods walked the earth,” says
photographer Gordon Eshom, “Craig was one of them.” That’s not hyperbole.
“We all believed it,” says fellow pro rider Jason Ford, “right up to the
moment we heard the impossible news of his death.”
What inspired award-winning, New York Times bestselling author Eric Blehm to write Kelly's biography some two decades after his passing-along with six others-in the controversial Durrand Glacier Avalanche of 2003?
Into The Darkest White tells the backstory that inspired THE DARKEST WHITE, A Mountain Legend And The Avalanche That Took Him, and provides a glimpse into the world of a long gone, but not-to-be forgotten snowboarding and mountaineering icon whose life was as inspiring as his death was tragic.

@@scarlettohara7862 I can honestly say from direct experience with Mr Craig Kelly has rode at some point, Width 21 - 22 inches, Angles 29 front foot 15 rear foot degrees, this is all extremely close to his chosen. I ride 36 front 18 rear Stance Width just under 21 inches on the new Burton 1995 Kellly Air 158cm. I’m 5 foot 8 inches and around 57 kilo’s.
He was 2 or 3 inches taller than me and around 5 kilo’s more than me. We both with our feet canted inwards. It’s a set up I chose to copy of him and I find it comfortable and extremely functional. I think Craig Kelly studied for a Degree in Chemical Engineering, so he was pretty smart, and he’s Regular Footed Stance is a perfect set up, that positioned you very well for making turns quickly and high speed carving along with very stylish tweaks when making big jumps with stable landing. It all worked well when riding fakie too.
Maybe you can try the set up, and experiment by changing your degree angles and width slightly. Oh, and not forgetting Front Foot Binding with maximum Forward Lean setting, with back foot No Forward Lean. This sets you up in a good bent knee riding posture, and has an instant reaction for Heel Side Turns resulting in a strong carve. Ride On and have fun….!!

His famous stance is +27/+9, but not sure of the width. Narrow, for sure.

@@spenserak About 21 inches, Craig was taller than me and he could definitely tweak an air.
