Gospel harmony great singers all three of them so underrated, should be in the rock and roll hall of fame. They do have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame, one of the best groups in the 70s and 80s!!!
The legendary Ms Ruth Pointer, and her daughter Issa, and the fabulous Sadako played Auckland, New Zeland last month. FABULOUS. And thanks for signing my cd Roxy. You are a truly talented family.
I was the Stage Manager ,for them, on the Road, in the 80s, they were very nice, plus the band members were super cool, we had a great time, it was in the fast lane. 😊
I just LOVE how the sisters shared their wardrobe! If you notice, Ruth here is wearing the same dress the June wore on the music video of "He's So Shy" I love them so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
True and also they had won the grammy for best country song by a duo or group in 1975 for the song Fairytale. Also got invited to the Grand Ole Opry that year and were the first female black performers at that venue. I know grammy awards don't have a ton of value but it is still noteworthy.
REAL MUSIC! What in the hell happen to the true artist of this day and time, 90% of the ones out there can not sing live! Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, Fantasia, Jazsmine Sullivan, Candice Glover, Kelly Price,Chrisette Michele, Brandy, and Monica are some sisters of today that can really "SANG" !!!!!
I just read a little history of this man: Conway Twitty and it says that he wrote "Slow Hand" "three Times A Lady" of the Commodores ( Lionel Richie ) and many other # 1 hits.
There is still a ton being made that is high quality. You just have to look for it. You won't find it on the radio. That was always true though. You weren't hearing Velvet Underground on popular radio in the 60s for example.
@GaddafiIsAGreatMan You are wrong, the pointer sisters are singing live, I have the record in my house and the sound of the voices are different and the end of the record is still different .
We didn't look for Bee-Gees, ABBA, Beatles, Pink-Floyd, Queen, Billy Joel, John Denver, Barry White, Stevie Wonder and 20-30 more like them, they were everywhere, on the radio and in music shops and on TV. I'm sure there are 1 in 20 great ones out there now but looks like instead of becoming people's favorites they're becoming corporations' favorites for money and profit.
Wow, I remember being like 10 or 11 and this song playing probably on the school bus, the bus driver had the school bus with sound. It was deland, florida and I was in 5th and 6th grade. It was M to M transfer so it was a long bus ride. White kids bused to a minority side of town. A really weird situation. I never understood what was going on. In 5th grade a 15 year old girl was a classmate, a huge girl, uses to walk past my desk and hit me in the head. She was too big to fight, for me anyway at like 10. Curlin' Houston was her name. I guess I have to forgive her. A girl named Regina stayed after class one day to tell the teacher she had the clapp and to get some coaching and counselling on that matter. I didn't really know what that was all about but after the word "clapp" came out, the teacher looked at me and asked me to go ahead and leave now. Peace and Love to everyone, lead a good life, treat everyone kindly.
@krimsonpage No, no, no. This song was written FOR the Pointer Sisters by John Bettis and Michael Clark. Conway Twitty covered it afterward. I'm sure the Pointers approved of his version!
Not sure who recorded it first. John Bettis &n, Conway Twitty & The Pointer Sisters recorded it. Maybe its because I heard theirs first or because I'm a girl, but I like the Pointers' best.
I like this stripped down version compared to the pop tune they have in the music video. These girls can sing their asses off, but Conway Twitty still owns this song.
yeah , Clapton was nicknamed Slowhand to point out or to mock his way of playing the guitar...nothing to do with this song unless one of the sisters had a crush on him and ...but no.
This song was written by a grandmaster lyricist. Sung by the greatest soul trio of all time . I'm not even into the genre, but this song is incredible. I'll sing it in private, over and over again, to brush up on my softer singing style.
Gospel harmony great singers all three of them so underrated, should be in the rock and roll hall of fame. They do have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame, one of the best groups in the 70s and 80s!!!
She sings 10,000 times better than any of these woman singing today!
What are you talking about ? There are plenty of amazing female vocalists out there. :\
Bananadog5 bullshit
Cut the crap
Nothing compared to the soul RNB blues singers of the 80s,70s,60s ,50s
Your out your mind
I agree! Not as versatile and as talented as the artists from back in the day...just like these ladies!
Copenhagen That’s cause you don’t know Jack about real R&B or music for that matter.
I agree, I’m a 90’s baby, and I only listen to music from the 40’s-90’s. Music today just lacks soul baby!!! 🤷🏻♀️
These ladies were my personal favorites. There was the Supremes, the Emotions, but loved the Pointer Sisters!!!
2023 I'm still loving the pointer sisters
high class ladies , with beauty and most importantly,,,,talent. todays divas with the torn jeans take notice.
I used to roller skate to to this song as a kid- good memories.

Good damn! Ppl don't sound like this anymore especially live. Amazing
Love this tune. Many memories from growing up. This sounds excellent live too. Flawless singing and I really like the pumped up beat from the band.
The legendary Ms Ruth Pointer, and her daughter Issa, and the fabulous Sadako played Auckland, New Zeland last month. FABULOUS. And thanks for signing my cd Roxy. You are a truly talented family.

@krimsonpage Sorry yet the Pointer sisters did it a year before Comway -> still both versions are great !
woah I think my mouth just went dry
Is that lead singer June she is great, I like them all.
old arthritic hands Anita on lead for this tune
MODESTEP
Uh-oh! Something’s wrong! They’re not lip-syncing!! 😩
Nor I you.
This is the best version of this song! Conway Twitty murdered this song, as he did to all the songs he copied.
netgirlsvideo
Oozes sexy.. mmm hmm, the voices, the music.
@telarock I agree, telarock. Somehow when a guy sings it,
it kind of sounds like a seduction line. LOL
And The Pointers' version is my favorite.
@aguaelluvia .......if only....hhahahahaha
Whitney Houston?
indispensable...
It might have been intended as a country song, but it doesn't sound country to me. It sounds pop.
@GaddafiIsAGreatMan
Great song but who cares?
I like this stripped down version compared to the pop tune they have in the music video.
These girls can sing their asses off, but Conway Twitty still owns this song.
Luv ya te hee steve xx
This song was 30 years ago no.3 in the world charts #pointer #sisters
Anita has such a beautiful voice! Silky and smooth….
Those voices! Wow....miss the days when music had talent in it.
+rainonariver Like Oprah says..."This is from a time when MUSIC WAS MUSIC"!!!!!
Don't we all? Those were the days.
rainonariver today's music is what I called canned !
Out of all the versions of this song (Eric Clapton, Conway Twitty)~~THIS is the BEST version...The Pointer Sisters version!
Lilly Love where did Clapton play this song ?
yeah , Clapton was nicknamed Slowhand to point out or to mock his way of playing the guitar...nothing to do with this song unless one of the sisters had a crush on him and ...but no.
It’s the original that’s why!!
It’s Black magic infused with spirit.
Clapton never played it
