- We didn't want to run parkrun in Finland on Ascension Day and then fly straight home, we wanted to make a trip of it. We got the overnight ferry from Helsinki to Stockholm with the thought of running Haga parkrun which was the first parkrun in Sweden!
The ferry was a really cool experience and I'd highly recommend it to anyone thinking of making this journey!
Huge thanks to Claire and her team for being so welcoming and making our Swedish parkrun so wonderful. It was really special to visit the birthplace of parkrun Sweden.

Definitely a trip I fancy doing. Probably from Manchester airport
Yeah, we chased the cheap flights... Manchester would have been easier! 🙃
Interesting how much the temperature varies between Finland and Sweden.
My trip to Norfolk was successful. Loved the viewing towers in Sheringham Park. Also, feeling an urge to return to the Broads with a kayak!
Yes yes yes, you should definitely paddle your way around the broads! Lol yes the temperature difference was crazy! I wasn't expecting that at all! 🥶🥵
Me and my wife are going to Stockholm
Next week to see Springsteen and run Haga PR. Great video hopefully we also get the sunshine
Ooh I'll keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻☀️ It's a great parkrun 😃 Have a great trip!
great vid as per, thanks for the touring inspiration. Haga parkrun looks aboslutely amazing.
What's your favourite Nordic country?!
Fave Nordic parkrun? (I've only visited 2 Danish ones so far- was going to do Malmo special last year but when it was cancelled opted for Another CPH one instead)
Ooh I think Norway has to be my favourite because of the incredible train journey from Oslo to Bergen. And I think it might be Bergen parkrun because of the views 😍😍😍 Although if I was running hard I definitely wouldn't say that as it's such a tough route!
Sure the heck looks nicer than central Leeds, not so many people cheering you on but still big smiles. You two, when Poppy doesn't have a cold, always have the best of times. Bon voyage indeed...
Talking about the Leeds, I had the pleasure of running the Half with a couple of Hyde Parkers. Started with Claire and was chased by Grace until she flew past me in the last mile, both nearly as cheerie as you. Grace told me she was enjoying my energy high-fiving the crowd and just having fun. Everyone managed sub 2 hour so when you see them pass on my regards and thank them for adding to the day's enjoyment.
Awwww most certainly will do, they are both super lovely! 🥰 Huge congratulations to all of you on running awesome times! 😃
Great video, Nicola. I loved Haga Park. I checked it out in 2018 when I went to run at Örebro. I definately want to go back & run there. It is a shame you didn’t have some more time there as there were several other interesting buildings just off the course that you didn’t have time to squeeze into the video. Haga parkrun started on my birthday in August 2016 which was the day I earnt my 50 milestone t-shirt. 🙂
Thanks 🤗 Oh cool! You definitely have to go back if you share a birthday! 😃😃😃
Gosh that is a long time on the boat - lovely. What a posh hotel, looked great and the park was amazing. As so jello for all that lovely sunshine - much better than the time two years ago in Malmo. Looks like you both caught some sun on your cheeks. Thanks for sharing.
The boat was honestly amazing! And what a treat the weather was! I hadn't packed suncream as this was not the forecast! 😂
What a cool video Nicola and what a whirlwind of a trip. You must've had to pack a ton of stuff for all the weather types you faced. I remember doing the British Isles tour on Princess Cruises a while back and being quite chilled on the deck of the boat even in the middle of summer.
That looked like an awesome park to simply run at. Wide paths, clean and just so many trees. The race looked like it was going to be sparsely populated as well, but it was amazing how quickly people showed up. Your hotel room looked pretty awesome too.
Another cool running adventure, I really enjoy your channel and the mini tours I get of Europe.
Thanks Eddie, yes I was really surprised by how different the weather was! Such variation! I adore parkrun as a way to explore the world 😃
Congratulations on doing the Nordics double. Absolutely stunning tent, wish it was close by me.
Thanks, yes it's super cool isn't it! So quirky and such a lovely view too 😍
Top tip ! If you fly to Arlanda Airport again go to Terninal 3 & get the semi fast stopping trains as they are a lot cheaper than the Arlanda express. It is the same travelling through East Croydon as the semi fast stopping trains are a lot cheaper than the Gatwick Express. In Stockholm, I stayed in Solna last time which was one of the stops on the train like and within walking distance of Haga Park (about 1 1/2 miles).
Thanks Matt 👍🏼😊
Great video Nicola, that tent cafe has to be the most impressive place to grab a cake after a run. Loved how immediately after you used the word 'baltic' - you filmed 30 seconds that was prettuy much the dictionary definition 😄
Isn't the tent the coolest thing?! Super quirky and really impressive visually 😍
Beautiful! Those copper tents are amazing!
They're awesome aren't they?! Super quirky! 😍
Shipley country park in heanour is a really good park run :)
Thanks for the recommendation 😃
My plan for next year! Looks a great trip and adventure!
It's awesome! I hope you live it as much as we did 🤗
Port is left, i remember it as both having 4 letters
Ooh top tip! Thanks Clare 😃😃😃
Seems like a lifetime away. Until the next time. !
Doesn't it just! Although I've run 2 marathons, raced a 10km and climbed Snowdon since then 😜😂
had a good parkrun at Stamford park run on saturday 22 mins i did then yestday walked and jogged 25.34 miles non stop from Droyslden to Huddersfield on canal sad news about Rob Burrows
Really sad, he has inspired a lot of people with his bravery and strength 💙💛
@@NicolaRuns i hope he is remembered by everyone at the Leeds Marathon next year
Haga parkrun looks lovely in sunshine and what an amazing cafe building. Parkrun trips are definitely the best way to travel but after Finland and Netherlands double, I still feel exhausted and tail walk this Saturday to get a longer break from running. Fab video as always!
I hear you! My 2 weeks has been Finland, Sweden, Leeds Marathon, Rudding Parkrace 10km, climb Snowdon, Edinburgh Marathon.
I
Am
Done!
🙈😂 I'm unbelievably exhausted 🙃 But I've made some incredible memories 🤗 Time for us to rest and recover now and get out energy levels back! ❤️
What a fabulous trip - love that the parkrun community extends across national boundaries like this!
It's one of the gorgeous things about international tourism 🤗🥰
Great fun , great run , you both look so happy , as you deserve to be 😊
🤗🤗🤗 awww thanks Bren 😊

It's an awesome parkrun and great to do the first one in a country 😃
