Amazing thorough video. Thanks for putting this together and sharing your valuable experience! About to go on the 500 mi camino de santiago walk and trying to prepare to prevent chafing.
Thank you. Wish you the best in your Camino de Santiago walk. I will add that if you wear running shorts it will help due to better seams. Avoid underwear with many seams. Many of the products have small versions which you can carry in your pocket for re application. I suggest every 50-75 miles. Have a great time
I accidentally saw your video a few hours before a 200k road bike event I used vaseline for the first time with very satisfactory results! Will try the noxzema cream in a future event. Many many thanks for the intuitive presentation!
I am gonna have to try the Body glide. I have been cycling for 20 years and for some reason this season i have terrible chafing on my scrotum. Literally get home from a ride and I have blood in my cycling shorts even with excessive amounts of anti chafing cream.
Thanks for watching Keith. It works pretty well but the sticks are harder to use in winter time. I had problems with some cycling shorts chafing me. You might want to try some different ones. I also put a pad cover on my seat which helped some.
@@Runnerrweupdate. Bought Body glide and my chafing has stopped over the past 4 rides and 300 miles. What a relief . Now I can concentrate on enjoying my ride instead of worrying about damaging my goods. Thanks so much!
@@Runnerrwe funny you said that I quit 8 miles in (was going for a 12 mile) because I was chafting between my legs, it’s the worse. Burns. Very painful. Had to walk like a crab home 🦀 I will definitely keep this video in mind next time I run! 💪🏽 It’s just a little prep and it’s worth it!
Great video! Been going with the Chamois Butter lately too. I always get worried though that it will stain my shorts or that people can see outlines on the outside. Seems to work longer and can spread better that body glide (I use that on my feet, toes and heels). Thanks
Thanks Marc for checking it out. Chamois Butter has worked well for me and it seems worn off but still protects a long time. I like it since easy to apply in all areas. I have used in 100 milers with one application. I used many others before. I use body glide sometimes for under arms and chest area. There is a new one called Chafe Safe which is made by KT tape company. It is about same as body glide but much less cost. Have a great day!
Chamois Buttr is my go-to for cycling. I haven't had any chafing issues running but I will keep some of these product in mind. I must admit I got worried seeing the KT tape on your table... I was happy to find out you were not using that on any private areas lol!
Thanks Sage. Chamois Buttr is my go to for running. It works great. Haha, yeah I bought the KT tape long ago when I had heel blisters but that issue went away with Injinji socks. I carry many different items to races but most I don't use. It is like a small medical kit :). Have a great day
Chamois cream (different brands) is being used in Europe for cycling for like 100 years. Works well. Every day use up to Tour of Flanders and Tour of France, etc.
Thanks Herbie. That is interesting. I bought it by accident since the others were out of stock. It works much better than the running solutions at a higher cost. Have a great weekend
Thanks Bubba for visiting. I agree with you. I only use body glide on nipples and arms. There is a new one called Chafe Safe which is low cost copy which works well. I use Chamois butter in other areas. Have a great day!
Any ideas for a bike commuter wearing jeans? Whenever I wear jeans, I chafe, and it's really painful. Will experiment with "tights" in lieu of underwear to see if that makes a difference. I never have issues with biking shorts, but I'd really like to be able to wear "normal" clothes riding, if possible. I have "shammy butter", but even when dry, the chafing happens when wearing jeans.
I would try the body glide since it is light film. The best thing is get pants which have chamois pad like cycling shorts. I did a 20 mile commute before and it worked well. Cyclists always say don't wear underwear with cycling shorts. One famous pro puts noxema on the pad which cleans and gives some lubrication. I tried it once. I would definitely not use jeans. There are special pants for biking commuters with the pad. Hope that helps
@@Runnerrwe Wow! Now that's an idea: Bike commuter pants! Ideally, I'm looking for something that looks like normal every day wear, without having to opt for the racing cyclist look if I'm just going to the grocery store!! Thanks for the quick feedback and recommendations!
@@Runnerrwe Hey! I wanted to give you an update on a work around that seems to be working: I wear Dry Fit tights underneath my Duluth Trading Company Flexible Jeans, and I don't experience any chafing! I've been riding this way for a few days now, and so far, no issues! (Based on your advice, however, I do have a pair of Sponeed biking pants in my Amazon cart presently; I'm sure that'll make for an even more comfortable ride once I'm into them. In closing, thanks so much for your recommendations and feedback! Much appreciated!

This is awesome! Very helpful! I chaft all the time being that I’m overweight lol. Thank you!
Thanks brother. I learned the hard way about chafing. In long races it can be the reason people quit.

@@bbyy_buddha yeah I talk about how to use each ones. Vaseline is ok up to 10k but more expensive better for long runs up to 100 miles
I'm lucky to have not had any issues with chaffing.... Yet! Thanks for the information!

Nice review. Fortunately I only ever have to wear lub when swimming with a wet suit. Bodyglide seems to work well or vaseline.
Thanks Paul. I am often amazed how much lube swimmers need. I saw one channel swimmer lubed up in a video
Im 50 and giggled many times during this video. I gota grow up.
Thanks for watching. Lots of funny stories regarding chafing at ultras. It is one of the most common reasons for DNF.
Espectacular
