One of the coolest parts about helldivers to me is the fact you never get asked to name your character just your ship since every time you die you come back as a completely different person so there would be no point it really makes you feel like you are just a cog in a machine a nameless background soldier
Actually, aren’t the cryopods you come out of in your destroyer actually holding your clones? The ones that drop in to replace “you” when you die on the battlefield? 🤔

Every helldiver you play as is a different person with a whole life and family back home that they left so they could be immediately snipped by a turret 0.1 seconds after dropping into a bot planet. The reason you have the same gear everytime is because every "reinforcement" helldiver on the ship gets the same gear and stratagems the previous captain unlocked. Confirmed by the devs btw. And yes, in a few weeks of war we have lost a whole 200+ million people. Mostly 18 year olds.

All of the spin-off and continuation stuff has been amazing too, and much more tuned towards a mature audience. Even if they did continue the original show, they can’t take away what was already there.
I like to think the automaton levels are an anti-war message because of the way they traumatize the player when they are met with a real opponent instead of a random bug.

I can say that that hard ass line is indeed from adventure time. The speech of the lich in the prison also begins with him saying "Fall" and then the main character falls powerless to the ground blind. We don't talk about what happens when the speech ends.
Hey, some of those bugs aren't bugs! The mech showing up damaged happens because it can be hit by enemies while the ship is flying in and dropping it. Sometimes the bots just blow it up before it even arrives (the mech blowing itself up is a bug, and has been fixed (again)). And the corpses sinking into the ground is intentional, to prevent them blocking objectives and stuff and softlocking the game.

I just noticed that since respawns in this game are actually reinforcements you're not bringing back your character. You're sending someone else to replace the dead one, therefore you're indeed sending more people to the meat grinder.
What I like is that with bugs you’re more in the open and going in guns blazing but with the bots you have to be more calculated and actually find good cover before engaging certain enemies or groups.
now that rocket damage is no longer a one shot they are much more manageable besides the new fliers. but i agree the cover is vital and makes them much more interesting. unfortunately besides points of interest the world generation doesn't give alot of good cover options besides rocks at best, at worst trees and bushes you can't see but they can see you and light you up. that ontop of getting head shot randomly should not be a thing for a pve game, especially when that means you lose your support weapon and are but defenseless the medium and up enemies on respawn. hoping there will be new world land scapes in the future but not expecting anything for a while.

Also sucks that slugger and scorcher are pretty far into the warbond , the weapons that make automatons actually fun since they can reliably kill everything. Except I think slugger can't shoot the mortar emplacement vents, where the scorcher can
Use the arc thrower, Zanny! It staggers/stops the attacks of everything except tanks and bile titans. And you can fire it again before they can attack again- Stun lock the bots back! Also, the mech is great against shrieker nests- 3 rockets per tower.
That prayer on the western side of the war is something we all go through when we're surrounded with bots. Also that Pacific Rim ost on 8:42, always appreciated.
The trick to bots is literally stealth. If you get attacked, more often than not its better to run away and flank them once they've lost sight of you...

Impact nades genuinely help a lot against bots. Can mess up shield devatstators, rocket guys, the scout striders/walkers, wipe out entire infatry bot squads with a couple of throws, etc.
They need a few more options. Maybe a localized EMP that shoots out a cone that does the same thing as the EMP mortar, but last longer to compensate for the risk and encourage use.
Alternatively... just use the right gear. Also don't fight the Bots like you fight the Bugs. They shoot back, Bugs don't. I actually find Bots easier to fight compared to Bugs.
so quick bonus tip for you that i really think you need to know, "WHEN YOU GET RAGDOLLED, DONT GET UP, STIM FIRST, you have a smaller hitbox while lying down to them"
Huh? It's not possible to stim while ragdolled. The first thing you do when ragdolled is always get up. AFAIK, you have zero control over your character and will *always* stand up first before you're able to do literally anything else. You can be prone, get barely nudged by an explosion, and you have to stand up before you can lay back down.

fr autocannon is so good against them with the downside of not having a shield backpack meaning rockets can oneshot you, but as long as you got cover its beautiful or the new quasar cannon is also great plus can take the shield with it

Helldivers’ positioning requirements against bugs: anywhere but surrounded by them Helldivers’ positioning requirements against automatons: remain behind cover, peeking only when it’s safe to do so while making sure not to get flanked as well as finding a way to deal with the tanks while you’re there + around 50 other things as well
Hell, the bugs are easier than that. You can get away with being surrounded and running straight through them just fine, as long as there aren't any that inflict slow in that mass. And the bots are even worse than that, since sometimes the client/server desync is insane, so you can't even always count on the cover to work.
Having fought the Bots more than the bugs, it’s definitely a different experience. The best way I can put it is that the bots have a learning cliff then plateau, while the bugs have a much better balanced skill curve
i go to a catholic high school and half the class plays helldivers. surprisingly we're willing to explore hell which we follow the religion simply to avoid going to
for the bots, use explosive damage reduction. use LOTS of cover. cheese fights with cover if you have to, communication is key. A build i usually run would be the following: Scorcher - THIS THING IS OP against bots. you can take tanks out, turrets out by shooting the weak point of them. it's also good on damage and can be a really good solo play enabler. if you don't have the scorcher, the sickle is really good, if you can maintain the heat and are good at being able to head shot the devastators you can really help support your team. Stratagems i'd recommend : Shield pack (yes it's still good even though it was nerfed to high hell) - helps prevent one shots. Arc thrower - infinite ammo can kill anything no matter where you shoot it. Auto cannon - yes it's good against most things, yes it requires you lose your back pack, but if shield pack isn't available this is the next best thing. Orbital laser - THIS can save you in any fight. this can take down a whole ass bot outpost if it targets the right things in the time it stays up. this can also help with extraction. 380mm orbital bombardment - this can take down a whole heavy facility (provided the rng helps) These are the stratagems i always find myself using against the bots. Armor would be anything heavy or anything with the bonus of 30% explosive reduction. All this enables you to do is survive longer, not become the juggernaut but to find a better position if need be to handle the issue at hand. Also, never travel alone, most times bots are a pain without a buddy to be there beside you, they might be able to handle things you can't by yourself, they can also provide potential distractions for hulks, tanks, and turrets so you can shoot their weak spot and destroy them. Extras i'd recommend: Auto pistol (because every other side arm kinda just sucks.) Impact, or high explosive. Impact because it's excellent at dealing with mob mentality the robots have close range. high explosive to deal with bot manufacturer buildings. The only thing i'd recommend against is the exosuit. like 0 USE. why? the amount of rockets the bots use on higher difficulty is just down right ridiculous, most times you will die before you even use all the ammo, never use this. with only 2 uses, you'd be best to swap this with the orbital laser, or any air strike that covers a wide area. Get out there and spread democracy.
I prefer the armor that gives you 50% chance to survive. For the simple reason is that unlike the explosive damage reduction armor that wont save you from any of the actual explosives that armor gives you a chance to survive even headshots. Also, heavy armor drastically slows you down and reduces your stamina regeneration which makes it a lot harder to get to cover since armor values kinda do not really matter much.
@@TankHunter678 there is medium armor that gives the 30% explosive resistance, it's on the super store and you can get with super credits. can also farm super credits very easily. Yeah the 50% is a chance to prevent death but your health is literally 1 shot (most times i've had it save me) and usually with the swarm of bots this means i'm usually dead shortly after from a hail of laser fire, along with rockets. Heavy armor is, OK but yeah the stamina kinda sucks but it prevents 1 shots better IMO then 50% because 30% guaranteed reduction vs a coin toss is just better. because you can always lose the coin toss more then ever lose the 30%.
@@Danjor0613 if the revolver had more ammo and the reload was a little faster i'd consider it. other then that i still believe auto pistol is better due to how fast and how much you can shoot in a tight spot.
Been fighting the bots too long... It's gotten to the point that I have a hard time fighting the bugs now... So used to it. The explosions. The chaos. The death. You just get so used to fighting an enemy, that they become the only thing you're good at killing. Guess I'm a Ranger. Chose Automatons as my Favored Enemy. Spill oil.

Helldivers’ positioning requirements against bugs: anywhere but surrounded by them
Helldivers’ positioning requirements against automatons: remain behind cover, peeking only when it’s safe to do so while making sure not to get flanked as well as finding a way to deal with the tanks while you’re there + around 50 other things as well
Hell, the bugs are easier than that. You can get away with being surrounded and running straight through them just fine, as long as there aren't any that inflict slow in that mass.
And the bots are even worse than that, since sometimes the client/server desync is insane, so you can't even always count on the cover to work.

Having fought the Bots more than the bugs, it’s definitely a different experience. The best way I can put it is that the bots have a learning cliff then plateau, while the bugs have a much better balanced skill curve

for the bots, use explosive damage reduction. use LOTS of cover. cheese fights with cover if you have to, communication is key.
A build i usually run would be the following:
Scorcher - THIS THING IS OP against bots. you can take tanks out, turrets out by shooting the weak point of them. it's also good on damage and can be a really good solo play enabler.
if you don't have the scorcher, the sickle is really good, if you can maintain the heat and are good at being able to head shot the devastators you can really help support your team.
Stratagems i'd recommend :
Shield pack (yes it's still good even though it was nerfed to high hell) - helps prevent one shots.
Arc thrower - infinite ammo can kill anything no matter where you shoot it.
Auto cannon - yes it's good against most things, yes it requires you lose your back pack, but if shield pack isn't available this is the next best thing.
Orbital laser - THIS can save you in any fight. this can take down a whole ass bot outpost if it targets the right things in the time it stays up. this can also help with extraction.
380mm orbital bombardment - this can take down a whole heavy facility (provided the rng helps)
These are the stratagems i always find myself using against the bots.
Armor would be anything heavy or anything with the bonus of 30% explosive reduction. All this enables you to do is survive longer, not become the juggernaut but to find a better position if need be to handle the issue at hand. Also, never travel alone, most times bots are a pain without a buddy to be there beside you, they might be able to handle things you can't by yourself, they can also provide potential distractions for hulks, tanks, and turrets so you can shoot their weak spot and destroy them.
Extras i'd recommend:
Auto pistol (because every other side arm kinda just sucks.)
Impact, or high explosive. Impact because it's excellent at dealing with mob mentality the robots have close range. high explosive to deal with bot manufacturer buildings.
The only thing i'd recommend against is the exosuit. like 0 USE. why? the amount of rockets the bots use on higher difficulty is just down right ridiculous, most times you will die before you even use all the ammo, never use this. with only 2 uses, you'd be best to swap this with the orbital laser, or any air strike that covers a wide area.
Get out there and spread democracy.
I prefer the armor that gives you 50% chance to survive. For the simple reason is that unlike the explosive damage reduction armor that wont save you from any of the actual explosives that armor gives you a chance to survive even headshots. Also, heavy armor drastically slows you down and reduces your stamina regeneration which makes it a lot harder to get to cover since armor values kinda do not really matter much.
FS23, autocannon, and SC30 have never failed me
Revolver is my preferred sidearm against bots since it can penetrate armor better then then smg pistol.
@@TankHunter678 there is medium armor that gives the 30% explosive resistance, it's on the super store and you can get with super credits. can also farm super credits very easily. Yeah the 50% is a chance to prevent death but your health is literally 1 shot (most times i've had it save me) and usually with the swarm of bots this means i'm usually dead shortly after from a hail of laser fire, along with rockets. Heavy armor is, OK but yeah the stamina kinda sucks but it prevents 1 shots better IMO then 50% because 30% guaranteed reduction vs a coin toss is just better. because you can always lose the coin toss more then ever lose the 30%.
@@Danjor0613 if the revolver had more ammo and the reload was a little faster i'd consider it. other then that i still believe auto pistol is better due to how fast and how much you can shoot in a tight spot.

Been fighting the bots too long... It's gotten to the point that I have a hard time fighting the bugs now... So used to it. The explosions. The chaos. The death. You just get so used to fighting an enemy, that they become the only thing you're good at killing. Guess I'm a Ranger. Chose Automatons as my Favored Enemy. Spill oil.
