Random tour of the lifts at kings college hospital. This is the next video in my series of "random lift tours", these are like normall liftt tours but with added random features. beno.org.uk
This has been one of the most educational and entertaining videos I have seen recently. Good show sir. PS. your voice is great. Made for good watching, I enjoyed learning about the lift types. More please.
These are videos I did ages ago. I personally feel that these old videos are not up to the standards of my present day videos. The content I am making today is over 100 times better. Have you checked out the advent calendar that is currently in progress.
@@benolifts I agree, I love your new stuff, I’ve been watching you for years now, but these videos are what made me find out about your channel, I’m really nostalgic towards these and they have a special charm to them in my opinion, but I do agree that your new stuff is much better and i do think your new vids have a great sense of charm to them too!
@@animatedabe6819 It is nice to hear from people that they enjoy watching my videos. Ultimately I made my videos for people to enjoy watching. With my latest videos, I have put in loads of effort to get the best content I can. which can include things not seen before on TH-cam, but I find it a bit disconcerting when some people are saying they like my old videos, which I didn't put anywhere near as much effort into them.
@@benolifts well it can also be a sign if people enjoying your beginnings, without these videos or any of your earlier stuff, you would’ve never blossomed into what you’ve became today, the much better and more interesting Beno, but people love to revisit the earlier Beno because that’s what they started with, the beginning of their journey with you, and see the massive glow-up, so don’t find it disconcerting, see it as people liking your beginnings
I remember all those lifts and the long deserted corridors from my time at King's. I injured my back once in that old gated lift by old theatres when transferring a liver transplant patient from theatres to the ward; the lift stopped about 6 inches below the floor so had to lift the bed with the critically ill patient. Ouch! And why was it the lift to the Labour Ward on the 8th floor was always out of commission when we were called to a C-section or arrest? My old pal Alan was so out of breath when he got to the 8th floor a visitor asked him if she should get a nurse for him. Happy days working in one of the most wonderful hospitals on the planet with some fantastic people. :-)
What a great video! I really enjoyed it. My favourite lift is the second Hammond & Champness lift and the creepy old one you fond in that spooky service passage, very nice.
7:08 I know but keep in mind that buildings do not cater to you or care about people wanting to keep the old lifts. People think the old lift tries to break down. Also, the older a lift gets, the harder it becomes to find parts for it.
I'm impressed. Amazing you did not get challenged by security. The Hammond and Champness lifts were good, but was pleased to see an antique goods lift made by D+A Lifts. First time I've seen a D+A lift. Otis are still the very best of the best elite, and if I had my own way all the lifts would be Otis. It would be nice to set up a lift appreciation society charity where the law would protect and preserve old lifts. I spotted a ALS lift. Long live elevator enthusiasts.
I seem to recall that the scary service corridor with the blue-doored goods lift is actually the corridor that runs under Denmark Hill that connects King's College Hospital with the former Neurosurgical Science Unit at The Maudsley. I worked in theatres at both sites and went through the corridor several times. Very hot down there
+John Michael Richards I didn't know that there is a tunnel between Kings and Maudsley! The tunnel I went along runs parallel to the railway and leads around the back of the hospital. This area has building works going on. They are filling in the area between the wings of the buildings, cramming stuff in wherever there is some space.
I agree. there's one like it in Ipswich and the h+c lift near me I've got a feeling may be modernized soon due to clarity of button issues a long term broken floor indicator and a potential safety issue.
One thing I notice is that so many hospitals seem to use two-speed doors on their lifts for some reason. why Regular center-open doors don't do the job i can't tell.
Hi, what is that with the red line in the basement and why they have this two beds down there in this room? Can you explain a bit more about it, my english is not that good so i can not understand everything you said in the video. Thank you.
first set of lifts need destination dispatch or miconic 10. i like that three door lift. service areas cause curiosity. playing with lights is fun :) main corridor looks HUGE when empty. the modded lift is ok. rattley lift should have new guide rails. next two mods are mistakes. staff lift has G and LG which the other lack. P and D lift has a fun motor. did the arrows in the P and D lift ever work? extending cement with metal is very strange. this is also urban exploration.
those pipes could be esbestos. you have good room with a wonderful view. why were you in hospital? fun how lifts can be in unexpected places. small hydro lift made a siren noise. maybe it isn't used enough to have a phone. top of the platform lift is floor 0.5. H and C lifts are nice. wish we had some in America. the junky generic should be replaced.
This video brings back so many memories of my childhood. This has to be my favourite video on all of TH-cam.
After since starting to watch your video the early years, I liked lifts when I was a child. This video I firstly watched, is my childhood.
Same too, this is my first elevator video since I was still little
