We all had this idea about jumping down the stairs, and avoid damage by grabbing the railing with precise timing and not letting yourself to speed up too much. Itagaki just decided to draw it in his book.
Well to be fair he is just wanting to see if he can do it. If he is going to go all out and kill people then he might as well leave... Plus I don't think Baki kills people.
At 0:36 it shows that Baki moved faster then the bullets shot at him which travel around 375 meters per second or 838 miles per hour which means he moved faster then 838 miles per hour. Even if he moved faster then the guards reaction speed(average 300 milliseconds) he had to move about 2-3 meters which would equal around 30 meters per second or 67 miles per hour. TLDR Baki fast and I did math to prove it
i dont think he is reacting faster than the bullets, but faster than the guards can pull the trigger, since there is never a sonic boom from him moving
There is a legendary stunt performed by magicians with good reflexes where they catch a live bullet with their teeth ...acording to everyone who has performed it, its an extremely nerve reking experience and they would never do it again Regardless, they prove the human body is capable movements fast enough to react to bullets.. keeping up with them is still a different story of course
I dunno how you gonna try to use math to justify a cartoon. Average response time for human visual stimuli is 250 milliseconds. The weapons being fired are m9 berettas with a muzzle velocity of around 381m/s. The projectiles are covering the distance of '3m' which takes around 7 milliseconds. Even if you could react at such lightning speed, you would probably cause some sort of explosion from moving so quickly. Even if you weren't super-sonic, which it have to be to not get shot, you are still occupying a point in space that had air in it at one moment then someone's body the next. The air has to go somewhere and really all this guy has to do is run around and he would just throw everyone to the ground with the amount of kinetic energy he is imparting on the air.
Baki is such a smug sack of fuck, his voice sounds just perfect with that dialogue. For some reason he has that 50/50 split personality where he is either the chillest but the smuggest, and where he is... a violent demon. But for some reason it's ok, you don't really see him in a different way when his fighter mode turns on. He is still a pretty relatable character that is very likeable.
Those guards at 1:00 should’ve kept their distance. Seriously, who would step close to a martial artist when they’re holding a rifle suitable for midrange combat?
A writer who wants something to look cool. When there would be riflemen on the walls and towers firing at him as soon as he steps outside. Some prisons will open fire when you are still inside the containment fence.
This does a good job of something that a lot of anime fail at: showing the protagonist as more skilled than already skilled enemies. Many anime try to show that the protagonist is supernaturally skilled by showing them overcoming many enemies, but end up making the enemy seem incompetent (by missing easy shots for example) instead. In this, the police are clearly skilled marksmen, Thier shots are hitting where any normal man would be, and thier reflexes are quick: it's just that Baki isn't a normal man, and is so much quicker that Thier normal tactics don't work.
I mean you say that, but this character is clearly over the top and so is the anime. Also the greatest incompetence is still there, which is for the guards to go into melee range. All they have to do is shoot from a range, but every time "nameless grunts" approach the MC, they tend to go into melee like if they had bayonets or something. Of course, they had to since that's what made the scene in the end.
@@Limrasson Technically distance really wouldn't have mattered. Yes all baki would have do to was duck faster than they pull the trigger, but the thing is these people have been reacting fasting their bullets since relatively early on. The unfortunate thing about having guns in your setting is they either entirely negate all the cool shit that happens in your setting, or you need to make your protagonist powerful enough to deal with them. I actually despise the wizard with a gun meme because of something like this. You can't dodge a bullet, even if you are fast enough to do so if there is no space to dodge into. And yes, warfare left natural human capabilities behind. It can still be dealt with well, for instance in Pillars of Eternity guns are a way to counter wizards and other spellcasters because the sheer kinetic force of a bullet is enough to penetrate magical defenses. But they are also the old style firearms so have a lot of negatives too. But it's just funny to have a cleric with a shotgun.

His skillful dodging of the bullets? He had almost all of the guards drugged when they ate. He could spot drugged guards via the expression on their faces. He knew they wouldn't be able to hit the broad side of a barn, and his movements would appear to be in response to their shots when under such a state. He knew he had to "Convince" the rifle guards and the warden, which is why he setup the button gag, and broke the wardens sunglasses far earlier in such a way that a micro crack in the corner would spread quickly under the heat of the sunny day.
