The story of Avatar the Last Air Bender is one of many things. Primarily, it’s a coming of age story that centers around a protagonist who is between being a kid and being an adult, who’s trying to find his footing in a world that expects too much of him. To many, this theme is all but too familiar to them. One of the defining moments in Aang’s life however was his decision to run away, attempting to hide from the responsibilities that came with being the Avatar. He carried guilt with him for much of his life, feeling that he had betrayed his friends and family by not being there. But the truth is known that if Aang had been there when the Fire Nation attacked, he would also have been killed. So the interesting thing to wonder is what would have happened if Aang had stayed behind with the Air Benders? What if he had been there during the attack? What if he died? And for the sake of it, let’s question what if Katara had been the Avatar instead while we’re at it.

Day 5: Hey The Amagi, the time has come, the Fairy Tail 100 Year Quest anime is coming out in July 2024. So I highly recommend that next please upload :“WHAT IF THE ENTIRE NARUTO CAST WERE IN FAIRY TAIL?”. The Reason is because I come up with Questions I wish to Know that could also help you as you draft out the Story:
1) Will the Origin of Chakra and Ethernano (Magic) start off with Kaguya Ōtsutsuki coming to Earthland and becoming the first wielder of Chakra and Ethernano on Earthland?
2) Will Kaguya’s Last name be Yakuma or Ōtsutsuki in this What if Story?
3) After Hagoromo and Hamura defeat Kaguya and the Ten Tails, will Hagoromo create the Eighteen Battle Gods of Yakuma, which includes not only Yagd Rigola and Ikusa-Tsunagi, but also the Nine tailed Beasts: Shukaku, Matatabi, Isobu, Son Goku, Kokuo, Saiken, Chomei, Gyuki and Kurama?
4) Will the Story of Indra and Asura in this What if Story be the same as in the Original Naruto Timeline?
5) Will Black Zetsu manipulate events in this What if Story like: Zeref getting cursed by Ankhseram, The Dragon King Festival, the 400 Year Plan, The Civil War between the Senju and Uchiha Clan, Cult of Zeref, the creation of Dark Guilds and the Foundation of the Alvarez Empire. All in order to set the stage for Project "Tsuki no Me"?
6) In the FAIRY TAIL ZERØ arc, After the end of the Civil War between the Senju and Uchiha Clan, will Hashirama Senju, Madara Uchiha, Tobirama Senju and Izuna Uchiha helped found the Fairy Tail Guild along with Precht Gaebolg, Warrod Sequen, Yuri Dreyar & Mavis Vermillion?
7) Will there be both a Wizard Guild Master and Shinobi Kage Leadership system at the same time?
8) Will Magnolia be part of an extended part of the Hidden Leaf Village?
9) Will the Nine Tailed Beasts (or Eighteen Battle Gods in this Story) be distributed amongst the Hidden Villages/Wizard Guilds in order to stabilize the balance of power between them?
10) After Zeref Dropped off Mavis’s lifeless body at the Fairy Tail Guild, does he come back to Magnolia/ The Hidden Leaf Village with Kurama and battles Hashirama and Madara?
11) Will Zeref be the one to manipulate Kurama into attacking Magnolia/The Hidden Leaf Village instead of Obito Uchiha?
12) Will Fugaku Uchiha help Minato with sealing the Yang half of Kurama inside Naruto and the Yin Half of Kurama inside Kushina?
13) After Orochimaru escapes Magnolia (The Hidden Leaf Village), does he join the dark guild Grimoire Heart afterwards?
14) How can the Tail Beast Extraction of all Jinchūriki be prevented so that all of them can assemble when the Final Battle happens? Will there be a Yang-Yin system where half of the Tailed Beast gets extracted while the other half remains inside their Jinchūriki Host?

I'm sure this would be stretched across way more episodes, but it's so funny to imagine katara not wasting any time, speedrunning the 4 elements, and jumping the firelord and without any moral dilemmas, murders the entire family 💀
And of course it wouldn't be a proper Avatar show without side-stories that make the characters and world feel more real

Going from the timeline of the video, Prince Zuko likely would be banished a few years after the beginning of this video, as Azulon later dies as Katara trains in the North Pole.
I feel like this scenario is more of a "aang remains at the air temple and is captured by the fire nation, living out his days in a fire nation prisonuntil he died at the age of 98, when katara is born"

Aang would have to stay alive for another 86 years after the Air Nomad Genocide… Katara was 14 when she found Aang, 100 years after he ran away. If he had died back then, someone else would have reincarnated as the Avatar long before Katara would be born.

In a hundred years, it may be possible, but I think what would be an interesting change should Zuko be the Avatar is that he would be born much later, and thus, be the younger sibling. It would also mean that Ozai would come to power even later than he did, had Zuko hid his identity of being the Avatar, or if Zuko did not, Ozai would never become the Firelord.
Strangely enough, I always saw an AU where Katara being the Avatar would have had the detail that Airbenders would still be around if Aang had survived long enough to fulfil certain duties as the Avatar; if he was found out as the Avatar then attacks on any surviving Airbenders might end.

Fire Nation didn't know if the air nomad avatar was still alive. That's why they killed the last souther waterbender because most likely be the next avatar (which is katara)

12:28 Unless you're implying that Bumi figured out Aang was the avatar before the monks told him, Bumi wouldn't have known that Aang was the air nomad avatar before Katara.
Well the monks told him before the fire nation attacked he was 12 when they told him versus the actual 16 and we know for a time Aang knew he was the Avatar. We just dont know the exact timeline day/year wise of when they were going to send him away for training. Because the show kinda glossed over it and for all we know a year might of passed, maybe Aang sent a message out to bumi saying "Hey I have to stay with my people as the Avatar I can try to beat the fire nation before anyone in my temple gets hurt". It's not concrete but the best way to fix this plothole and it would explain why it took awhile for Raava to go to Katara if Aang somehow survived the initial raid on the Air Temple but eventually got taken down maybe by defending another temple or some trap.

Honestly, if Aang would've left just a bit later he could be on the run with monk Gyatso for a while perhaps before their eventual capture. Perhaps they've stumbled upon bumi after the news got out, eitherway it has the possibility to turn out the same.

If Katara was the Avatar, I imagine she and Azula would have become arch-rivals. I could see a situation where Azula gets her ass handed to her by Avatar Katara, losses her shit over getting beat by a 'peasant' waterbender and obsessively tries to find some way to destroy her. This could lead her to Wan Shi Tong's library, since Zhao made no secret about visiting the place to find an advantage over the Fire Nation's enemies, surely Azula would have heard about it from him. She goes to the library, manages to trick Wan Shi Tong into letting her peruse his collection (even gifting him some Fire Nation books to replace the ones Zhao destroyed). In the library she discovers two things. 1. If Katara is killed in the Avatar state it will end the cycle, and 2. Vaatu's power matches that of Raava. She somehow finds her way into the spirit world, goes to the Tree of Time and frees Vaatu, who then possesses her and they become the Dark Avatar.
How are Sokka & Katara Peasents of the Water Tribe that never made sense to me. As Hakota was the Chief of the Southern Water Tribe.

Plus, Azula and Zuko would definitely consider them peasants because they’re from a “weaker” nation and don’t hold any royal titles.

Speaking of which, I don’t remember Iroh being mentioned at all; he could’ve been Katara's Fire Teacher, not that Jeong-Jeong was the wrong approach, just stating another option. Also wondering how he would feel now that the rest of his family has been killed.

"Failed"? He never tried killing him. Sozin being there in the first place was an old friend's gesture. Roku would've died on that island either way. A better wording would be "what if sozin chose to save roku's life" or more interestingly "what if roku never inhaled the toxic fumes"? Saving roku is out of character for him, given he's been waiting for the comet for ages, but its reasonable to assume if he indeed had the decency to do that, the air nomad genocide would never occure because the war would only begin much later, probably after roku's death. It is implied the air nomads are very powerful and could withstand the fire nation's assault if it werent for the comet, paving the way for aang to defeat him in this alternative timeline, too. This is also true for the timeline in which roku never inhaled the toxic fumes and with the help of sozin, saved his home island, except this reality is a lot more plausible/doesnt conflict with sozin's motives.
Anyways sorry for rambling, lol. Idk how correcting your wording turned to this.

It’s my own head cannon that aung was actually captured during the fire nation attack on the air temple and died at in his 80s either from old age or a failed attempt to escape because katara would of had to be born like 86 years early to be the next after because the next avatar is born within 2-4 weeks after the last one dies. Also why was zuko and azula nonexistent until the end because zuko still would of been banished from the fire nation because his banishment had nothing to do with the avatar or aung it was actually because he spoke out against the fire lord plan to basically send soldiers to their death. I also find it funny that katara basically speedruns the 4 elements now they don’t have aung sidetracking them by dicking around😂

Katara's age, compared to Aang's and the 100 year war
so the way I always see it
is that Aang was able to at least push back the attack with the Avatar State
before going into hiding with other air nomads, making it possible for Aang to age more and keep air bending somewhat around, if not on the rare side

Also since kyoshi did something similar she would be able to do it. Kyoshi froze the blood in someone’s heart so she if Katara used her wisdom she could bloodbend

Pleeeaaasseee do a vid on “What if Naruto Had Ultra Instinct?” He would start off by showing signs of ultra instinct like randomly dodging in random situations like let’s say kakashi does the 1000 years of death in the training arc and then Naruto jumps out of the way just in time on instinct like how SSJ3 Goku jumped back when he was fighting Beerus. After, when Haku stabs Sasuke and he falls to ground, Naruto awakes ultra instinct sign and somewhat bodies Haku. Then later in series he masters it but idk when you can choose. Make ultra instinctpowerful but not too powerful to a point where he one shots everyone. Make it so that he has actual battles.
The narrator ass tone on the dialogue of the final battle is such insane tonal whiplash. Like you didn't even try to make the dialogue sound more intense?
It was an amazing story as usual but I do have to wonder, what would kataras love life be like since aang died?

What if the airbenders survived the initial attack?
Many did. But many of the survivors were hunted down by the Fire Nation.
Technically, airbenders did survive the initial attack but some would go into hiding; it's heavily implied that survivors hid in the Earth Kingdom, maybe in the Fire Nation or Water Tribes if they were lucky enough, in places that would make it easy for them to hide from being attacked.
A lot of them were nomadic. the monks and the kids they were raising had been wiped out, but there was definitely some still out there. It’s impossible for the fn to have killed them all.
You forget the Dragon of the West! With Ozai and Azula gone he'd probably get the throne and assuming Zuko lived (IIRC he just got chi blocked) we could get a fire lord Iroh ending as well!

Yeah, hate to break it to you, but bending more than 1 element at a time had never happened before Korra and when they did it for Korra they were simply trying to make her cool and op, so I don't really consider that ability canon. The avatar state can be summoned but in Katara's case it would summon a mighty bubble or wave of water, greater than any normal water bender could summon. However, this does not magically let you bend all elements. Aang demonstarted this numerous times when he went into the Avatar state before mastering any element. He would create cureents of air and cyclones that were unmatched by any other air bender, but he could still only bend the elements he knew.
EDIT: Also, If Aang had died along with the rest of the airbenders than Katara would have no master to teach her airbending. The reason Korra had someone was because 1 of Aang's 3 children was an airbender and a master at the element.
Great story and all, but where's our beloved tea-loving Uncle Iroh? 😭 Being a member of the White Lotus, I think he woukd have been better at teaching her everything she needed to know with regards to firebending and redirecting lightning, because Ozai and Azula seemed to love to bend it. Also, it would have been cool if Zuko was also back to his original story, being exiled and all. Maybe I just love these characters too much to see them being killed off 😭😂

I really like this but theres just one problem. If aang really was killed in the air temple then there would be no avatar for 100 years. Either he died right after unfreezing himself or katara was born way earlier
i actually really love this what if. over the years ive come to enjoy aang as a character less and less. i get its part of his personality but i feel like he just comes off as comic releif while characters like zuko, katara, and sokka all grow and develop alot more. by the end aang doesnt feel much different to me, unlike the others.

Katara wasn't supposed to b the next Avatar, Yui or Yue was (not sure how they spelled it.) The white haired, Northern Water Tribe Princess n Sokka's first gf who became the Moon. It was confirmed by the creators n everything, if Aang was never frozen he would've lived on even if the Nomads were still wiped out albeit in hiding. He would've tried to help but would eventually b ordered by Gyatso to flee n although he would deny this order he would eventually c this was the only option so he wasn't captured or killed. Then eventually reincarnated into the North. This is y she was born silent n as though she was already dead her body was essentially an empty vessel n y it took another spirit giving her their energy to awake her.

I wish there was just a little more backstory about how katara was born the avatar like what happened to Aang? Just old age?
I feel like Zuko and Katara would make a better couple, so I’ve always imagined a alternate timeline where Aang doesn’t leave the temple, fights the fire nation, and triggers the Avatar state when he sees Gyatso’s dead body, ending Sozin’s life or at least forcing him to retreat, he lives his life and dies in battle but not before he ends the war, when he dies Katara is born and becomes the Avatar. Then I imagine Katara learns the 4 elements normally, and since the Fire Nation isn’t hostile anymore I assume Zuko would be more kindhearted and when Katara goes to the Fire Nation to learn the fire element they meet.
You can imagine the rest 😅
I saw a theory that the reason princess Yue was born without a soul was because she was supposed to be the next avatar but due to Aang still being “alive” in the ice berg the avatar spirt did not enter her body at birth and that’s why the moon spirit gave her part of her spirit and Yue awoke

I think that Katara’s water bending would be on par with her water bending skills in book 3. If she was training with Pakku for a while but if she was the avatar she would be as good as katana was in book 3.
