    This is one of the new dimensions of finding differences without start variance or finish variance.

      Please note that Start variance is used to calculate the difference of planned and actual start date after the schedule is finalized. But the custom field feature as shown in this video will be useful to detect the changes done to any task in your schedule if you send a schedule to someone and they change the duration / linking of predecessors of any task.

    Why do not use the Variance field for this purpose?

      Regarding variance fields, please note that Start variance is used to calculate the difference of planned and actual start date after the schedule is finalized. But here, the custom field feature as shown in this video is for a separate purpose. It will be useful to detect the changes done to any task in your schedule if you send a schedule to someone and they change the duration / linking of predecessors of any task.
