Winter truck camping

  • It was a beautiful winter day so I spent it out in the snow. After hiking around in snowshoes for a while I found a great campsite. Once I had the campsite set up I built a nice fire and enjoyed a beautiful winter evening with it snowing from time to time.
    In the morning as I was thinking about getting up I heard a tree crashing and leapt out of bed into the bottom of the truck bed as fast as lightning. Turns out the tree had been right next to me and fortunately it fell away from the camper

    Camper is a 2023 Four Wheel Camper Project M

    Looking pretty fantastic out there! Indeed, love a great roaring fire! A great camp and no rescues needed.

      Thanks. Yup a roaring fire is great to have on days like this. And no stranded folks was good too.

      Thanks, it was good that the wind didn’t blow the other direction. The snowy landscapes are beautiful and don’t seem to last long enough. Thanks for watching.

    Dang tree almost took you out! Perfect snow! Perfect depth and condition for your camp and not too cold either. Here in Southern Oregon we’re having a heat wave with our snow level up around 7,000 feet, which is Crater Lake high (it’s near here).

      Yes it was great snow! Gotta get it while I can. It warmed up here as well and that area is now a slushy mess. I miss the old days when winter stuck around for awhile.

    another excellent winter camping video. Wow you have been lucky with this tree ! and also I cannot agree more with you regarding this expiration date nonsense. apart from fresh meat or fish/seafood, for all the rest I really don't bother with the due dates/expiration/best by/freshest by (however they call it ) nonsense dates. I use my sense of smell and taste and if ever it tastes wrong I would discard it (it has happened more often with unopened products within the due date, so it's more a matter of contamination or wrongdoing during manufacturing than anything else). If I see mold or strange stuff I would discard it of course but when it's still sealed and not opened it's still fine. I have eaten sour cream, yogurt that were 6months+ past due date (unopened and sealed), shredded cheese etc and even ricotta and mascarpone 1 year past the due date. Not to mention the eggs (those can be rotten even within the due date if they were cracked without noticing) anyway I open my eggs one by one and separately. Well done and I enjoy your snow videos even more because we are basically snowless this winter again (we had less than 2 inches the other day, that melted right away with the heat wave we just had before I could even try to enjoy it in the outdoors !) Cheers and looking forward to your next adventure.

      Thanks. I think part of the expiration date thing is companies are required to put something on there so they go with dates that are on the close end rather than the true shelf life. Like you I tend to just use my best judgement depending on what it is and how it’s been stored. I still have rice that’s several years out of date and it’s just fine.
      Our winter has been too warm and a warm rain storm is getting ready to hit the whole west coast tomorrow so lots of snow is going to melt off.
      Tomorrow I have another video coming out that will be a bit different than the normal ones.

    Very nice 🤙🏽where’s there’s a river while I’m camping in fishing 🎣

      @scottalpine  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yup rivers definitely make it a more interesting place to camp especially if you can fish in it or dive in on a really hot day. Thanks for watching

    Nice camp. Looks like that Gal got her car pulled out?

    • @scottalpine
      @scottalpine  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks. Nope that car was still there. Probably waiting on the snow to melt, it’s warmed up so should start melting off soon.

    Hey Scott just subscribed to your channel. I live in Vancouver WA myself and love that kind of camping. I have a channel myself but currently do travel trailer camping videos. I plan to build my own truck camper and do cool trips like you’re doing soon. Subscribe if you’d like. Take care.

      Thanks for watching and subscribing. There’s a lot of great places near Vancouver. Building your own truck camper is quite the project, I look forward to seeing how it goes.
