The reason why Zhao is “long” is because it is long. Historically Zhao was the only state that manage to defeat Qin multiple times thanks to Riboku to the point that he managed to stalemate Qin. The other states including Chu were significantly weaken and Qin was too OP. So realistically the Zhao campaigns are most tiresome and stagnated for Qin soldiers.
Zhao's military reforms were very successful. The 胡服骑射 policy caused a large number of northern nomads to join the Zhao , and also caused the Zhao to expand northward to today's Inner Mongolia(Conquer Zhongshan Kingdom and nomadic tribes such as Linhu and Loufan). Zhao's light cavalry can be said to be the most powerful among the 7 kingdom, Mounted archery tactics also changed the war traditions at that time, Putting chariots and heavy infantry under great threat
@@NerdChannelBrasil Chu was just a very large state but it’s political system is deeply flawed at that point. They granted titles too easily so there were a bunch of nobles pop up outta nowhere, which caused the realm to be severely divided.
For the big threats in the future point: Shibashou is built up to be a monster and will likely be that next major test for shin, not just as a general but as a fighter too. For the other states, Wei has Gaimou which is strength and character (Shins already stronger than him but he’s still strong), Qi has the politics with Sei and Ouken, Chu has a stacked roster: Kouen, Renpa, Karin, Manu, the other Juko generals, Kouyoku and Hakurei, and I’m sure there’s some monsters we haven’t seen. There’s also a major history spoiler for Chu but let’s just say they aren’t lacking in threat level and will have a crazy roster of Great Generals. And there will be a big emotional aspect for Shin and Moubu in Chu but I won’t get into the spoilers. Just because Zhao is the biggest hurdle (Chu is stronger but Riboku is the best general among Qins enemies) doesn’t mean the conquest of other states won’t be interesting. For example the Hills arc was against Keisha and Kisui which isn’t exactly a top tier battle, but the moral aspect made it great. I’d look forward to Zhao, Chu, and Wei based on history. Not just in stakes and difficulty but in morals and character as well. Also for the Zhao dragging on thing Hara is staying pretty true to the historical timeline so nothing you can really do about that

Kingdom fans forgive me 🤷♂️ all this to say: with the constant never ending praise I hear for this series, I can’t wait to read Kingdom, *SOMEDAY*
Just recently caught up to the Kingdom manga after watching the anime (yeah, idk how I got past season one's cgi either). While Coalition Invasion is one of my top 10 arcs in animanga, it by no means points to a falling off afterwards. Western Zhao Invasion is amazing, pretty much every arc with Kanki as a focus is great, and there's plenty of smaller and more politically focused arcs that are thrilling reads too. Kingdom continues to impress me and I don't think there's been a single arc that wasn't at least bare minimum very good.
14:58 So I caught up to kingdom the first time around 650 and have been reading weekly ever since I must say it’s never gotten Dull Imo it’s only ever intensified with all the plot spins, twists & thrillers I love the characters so deeply that wether it be a Massive plot developing War or a small story in the palace it’s all been magnificent to read for me
15:05 the Zhao arc especially made me fall in love with characters that I didn’t necessarily connect with the first time It’s a great blend of new and old characters in every conflict
i think the recent chapters have been really refreshing, with spies & political developments that aren't boring and actually have character development also i think chu should be developed a bit more, looking forward to that
Great video ! As for what you said at the end bout Riboku/Zhao & feeling the fatigue, I would say that’s totally natural. Kingdom is great being binged but it’s a pretty hard read for weekly. I would disagree bout the Zhao stuff being stretched out because technically the author is simply just following history but I also can’t blame people that are feeling the length. 100% you should stack up chapters for a few years then come back
As someone who was up to date when the whole Zhao arc started, I can tell you, reading this every single chapter when they came out was quite the expiriance, now I want to convince some friends of mine who complained about Wanos lenght to read Kingdom and see just how they would react to the whole Zhao thing that has been going on in the manga

Could you give us your thoughts on the artwork of kingdom? Personally I think there’s literally one of the best of all time bar only a rare few like berk, vagabond, opm etc. Would be nice if you gave that some credit and also showed us some of your favourite of many incredible panels.
Kingdom is definitely a series to read in arcs, that's how I digest it and it has served me well. I take rest between arcs for sure because they really are long but really exciting nonetheless. I'm at the place where Riboku is still plotting and scheming but this time, he knows Kanki's "weakness."
I personally never stopped reading since I discovered the first chapter, finally caught up around after coalition arc. Still reading it weekly since then haha
You said that Houken and Riboku and the state of ZHAO are the biggest obstacle for Shin and Sei to unite China but if you payed attention you will know that the state of CHU is there biggest hurdle for that goal as they have the most powerful generals in china with formidable great generals leading them like Karin and the strongest great general that has yet to appear the TIGER of CHU Kou En. so I am not affraid that shin will not have strong opponent to test him in the future.
Glad someone else picked this up. Zhao are baby food compared to Chu. Chu literally make up the biggest state and have the most powerful generals. Every other state has had a key person like Riboku holding them up. Chu is a land of titans in comparison
The beginning caught me off guard. So happy you caught up and made a video. TOO MANY content creators on here who used to cover Kingdom fell off… SPOILERS …like Kanki fucking DIED due to Riboku. And NO COVERAGE.
As a Kingdom fan from 2020 I can say that following every new chapter can be little bit long. Especially when you see how much plot has moved in 3 months. From history point the next big threat to Qin is Chu since their state is very big. I hope that the author of manga Yasuhisa Hara will finish the story before he gets too old, I mean we're only in 233 b.c. and 12 years ahead which will be much longer in our time.
Idk if u noticed but the years have been moving much faster recently. Zhao stuff is pretty much done and the other states apart from chu won’t take as long. Chu arc happens in 225-223 BCE
@@mikoajh2747Yeah I know but Shin's for example campaign in Chu could be around 50-60 chapters long because it's a massive campaign like Western Zhao Invasion arc.
Tbf I loved all of Kingdom, but I feel like the Invasion of Gyou arc was nearly as good as the Coalition arc, for different reasons. The Coalition arc was great because of the insane situation that Qin was placed in, which led to hype, all of the different characters being used and all of the challenges Shin goes through. Gyou, on the other hand, felt like Qin was always barely scraping by, and it was really enjoyable to see how Ouken and Yotanwa managed to clutch.
I felt intimidated going into this series blind, well into 600+ chapters. The country shutdown definitely gave me that much needed time to binge read. It's been such a rollercoaster of a series with the highs being high and the low moments still being up there.
Love Kingdom, been up to date with it for years now. Riboku definitively is the highest difficulty Qin is going to face for sure. After the Zhao invasion is done and Shin (hopefully) has become General, I'd love to see him set loose on Chu to fight Renpa. Bring back that old grandpa to set new against old for a proper rematch. I would be happy to see it end there to be honest. Without any big bads built up beyond this, it's hard to see how Shin would even struggle against any general at that point.
Kingdom was def my fav manga binge when i started and I consider Coalition to be up there with the best arcs, but you're right in that it has been a dragging lately. Ive been on and off for about 3 years letting it build up to 10 chapters at a time and had no idea Zhao invasion was over 300 chapters. Think i'll keep reading it in volumes as opposed to weekly like other series. The fact that its still in top 10 annual sales without an official translation is indicative of its quality.
HISTORICAL SPOILER: the reason why the zhao/riboku thing never ended til now is bc well qin never won against riboku so the outcomes of the wars in the manga are all based on reality, therefore the mangaka wouldve either had to timeskip some important wars and fights or alter the timeline for his manga and i think he wanted to do neither of those and thus the zhao wars are more frequent and take up many chapters
i just love massive strategic war and not pure strength war or small war. also it's very hard to find movie with this genre but i'm glad i found this manga and it become one of my favorite
I think you bring a big point about Houken was the prime fight for Shin. Zhao is likely the final full war arc. There will only be 1 or 2 battles for all the other states. Riboku is the main antagonist. I imagine riboku will be caught by Ouhon and will lose. And then Shin will fight and kill him. Something like that. Riboku is the true final boss of the story.
I get the feeling that the reason why the Zhao invasion is long is cause we won't get to see the rest of the states being conquered as thoroughly as Zhao, maybe Chu beign the biggest or Wei since they have a lot of wars shown in the Manga. If you read the history in China then you understand that the biggest loss for shin is against the Chu, and they still need to build more the legend of Ousen who really was the biggest general of the time. I get that some people will say it's long but as a history nerd I love how everything is presented. Great video!
Zhao invasion being as long as it is makes sense since its a Military Campaign which takes a lot of Battles to occupy areas and take out generals and take over and strategies since Qin is taking a whole nation and not just independent battles
One of my biggest pet peeves with Kingdom is actually the japanese names. I would much prefer if the translations that exist were to use Ying Zheng instead of Ei Sei for example (this one is especially bad IMO). A lot of the characters are real people with real names. Its like making a documentary about JFK and the german translation calling him Hans.
Honestly my only issue with kingdom is how Shin is a dumbass. A great general can’t be a dumbass, it just doesn’t work. Moubu might not be a genius but he isn’t a rock (I woulda disagreed on this point when he disobeyed Ouki but..). Anyways, Shin couldn’t think his way out of a shoe box, how is he suppose to compare to the likes of Ouki, I don’t buy pure intuition being the answer.
I have Kingdom as my 2nd best Manga behind One Piece because its the only other besides OP that can get me extremely hyped and he also builds up arcs and characters for years just like Oda peak fiction
kingdom imo its the best manga and its not even close. seriously even the weakest arc of the series is a solid 8/10 for me. Coalition is the best arc in any manga. Sadly I lost all my interest in other long series like one piece, re zero but for kingdom I never did it. just read 785 today and its as good as it ever been
I’ve got spoiled this manga because a learn about the seven warring kingdom before i read this manga, sometimes i wish I didn’t who would win, die etc, but it’s still worth it, i hope there’s mangaka who make three kingdoms story someday
As it's based on history, that anyone can read about in Chinese history about unification, the author simply can't create fictional battles, ones in size as the coalition army battles, just to make history more interesting. At that time Shin was too 'small' to make a real change in the flow of battle. Ousen did. One could say that at the battle of Sai, it was based on his performance, but Sei was the one to rouse the population there, that made the realy turning point. I think the Zhao campaign is the first real deal in Shin, Ouhon, Mouten's grows and importance. That's the first really huge campaign where their presens is 'felt' over the battlefield. Back to the scale of things. As the coalition was about 5 nations attacking one, it's a one of the it's kind. It wasn't implented in the story at that time, because the author made a mistake about timing, but because it happened in history at that time. Without any spoilers, the probability of it happening again is slim, as Nations will collapse as we go on, and became part of Qin. BTW if someone like spoilers, just read about Chinise unification history, and you'll know how the story of Kingdom will go, and end.
Its a good start, i mean eiseis political strugge, shins motivation and their bromance. wellsetup, the mentor, the ha shin unit really comes from the bottom and how they earn that and how they re are to get the cred, well done. And their bonds. I mean kanki is still the best wthmouten, but all the manga is very good. alsoaftr coalitionithinkthe tension and ribokuas worst obstacle still works. ohand politics, yeah poitics tooand the powerstuggle works

I would be happy to see it end there to be honest. Without any big bads built up beyond this, it's hard to see how Shin would even struggle against any general at that point.
Great vid bro.😺
finally, welcome to the weekly waiting gang
Masked Man caught up to peak! Haven't actually watched the video but hope he actually appreciates the GOAT
HISTORICAL SPOILER:
the reason why the zhao/riboku thing never ended til now is bc well qin never won against riboku so the outcomes of the wars in the manga are all based on reality, therefore the mangaka wouldve either had to timeskip some important wars and fights or alter the timeline for his manga and i think he wanted to do neither of those and thus the zhao wars are more frequent and take up many chapters
Get this man to 400k
Greatest intro of all time
Finally, I found someone who speaks about this masterpiece manga
i just love massive strategic war and not pure strength war or small war. also it's very hard to find movie with this genre but i'm glad i found this manga and it become one of my favorite
its comes so wild that even after 760+ chaps we barely have scratched the surface of KINGDOM
I pray daily for an English localization of the manga so I can buy the volumes
I think you bring a big point about Houken was the prime fight for Shin. Zhao is likely the final full war arc. There will only be 1 or 2 battles for all the other states. Riboku is the main antagonist. I imagine riboku will be caught by Ouhon and will lose. And then Shin will fight and kill him. Something like that. Riboku is the true final boss of the story.
It would be neat to get a English physical release of this.
This Manga is 🐐🐐🐐🐐
since you included ragna crimson at 2:27 what do you think of it?
i love it but it's a manga i rarely see people talking about.
Found out about kingdom off of tiktok and I’m almost 400 chapters through and it’s my top 5 favorite manga already
As someone who watched the Anime first and then 170 chapters
It’s top 3 shows I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot about 8k episodes to be exact
Kokuyou and the next big war arc are my favourites. Kokuyou is now on with season 5 anime.
I agree with you on this point
Honestly my only issue with kingdom is how Shin is a dumbass. A great general can’t be a dumbass, it just doesn’t work. Moubu might not be a genius but he isn’t a rock (I woulda disagreed on this point when he disobeyed Ouki but..). Anyways, Shin couldn’t think his way out of a shoe box, how is he suppose to compare to the likes of Ouki, I don’t buy pure intuition being the answer.

mate i suggest you check our boy cooking war philosofy
I guess one of the reasons why kingdom is so long is because it's following history so it can't cut any events out and whatnot.
Truly nothing can match the hype in kingdom
I swear on Ouki's lips It's the hypest of all
But kingdom can never be better than my favourite manga
Cause it is my favourite manga
I have Kingdom as my 2nd best Manga behind One Piece because its the only other besides OP that can get me extremely hyped and he also builds up arcs and characters for years just like Oda peak fiction
Oh my sweet summer child, just you wait for the chu invasion arc. You're gonna miss riboku
the way kingdom has good characters without giving me intense depression is awesome
Just read through Kingdom... Its amazing, easy 9/10.
kingdom imo its the best manga and its not even close. seriously even the weakest arc of the series is a solid 8/10 for me. Coalition is the best arc in any manga. Sadly I lost all my interest in other long series like one piece, re zero but for kingdom I never did it. just read 785 today and its as good as it ever been
30K MORE BOYS LETS GO
Kyoukai best girl.
Kanki my fav character.
Coalition war arc is best war arc in animanga history
Kanki's 80k vs 240k was better than the coalition arc
I took a break right after Gyou. Goddamn did that arc go on. Good but stressful
I’ve got spoiled this manga because a learn about the seven warring kingdom before i read this manga, sometimes i wish I didn’t who would win, die etc, but it’s still worth it, i hope there’s mangaka who make three kingdoms story someday
Bro that intro broke me . I forgot what the video was even about .
buggin, week to week kingdom still gas😂
Kingdom consistently dropping A to S tier Arcs casually
I havent caught up but Coalition Arc is the epitome of fiction
There should be a disclaimer for kingdom it's wayy too addictive
What petition we need to sign frfr I want XIN to be a general
GOAT manga
Its a good start, i mean eiseis political strugge, shins motivation and their bromance. wellsetup, the mentor,
the ha shin unit really comes from the bottom and how they earn that and how they re are to get the cred, well done. And their bonds.
I mean kanki is still the best wthmouten, but all the manga is very good. alsoaftr coalitionithinkthe tension and ribokuas worst obstacle still works.
ohand politics, yeah poitics tooand the powerstuggle works
Patiently waiting for the battle of fire: Shibashou vs Shin 🤧
about fuckin time
