- We are back with a new episode of “Sit and Knit for a Bit on a Sunday.”
In this episode, we take you through a recap of our busy autumn, focusing on our travels, workshops, and the amazing Vogue “Knitting on Top of the World” cruise. We also talk a lot about knitting, discussing different knitting cultures, various projects, and an exciting upcoming Christmas knitalong.
Highlights
🧶 We went on an incredible cruise to Svalbard and then traveled down to Northern Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Shetland.
🏔️ We saw polar bears and walruses in Svalbard, and I (Arne) tried kayaking for the first time!
🧵 I (Arne) also show off a new sweater I knitted during the cruise, inspired by the polar bears we saw.
🎅 We’re excited to announce a new Christmas knitalong, with more details coming soon.
🎄 We also share some information about our upcoming Christmas ornaments, a new sweater, and other knitting projects that will be available in our online store.

Beautiful sweaters! Sounds like a fun trip!! Oh no...the clown is back...🤡😱
Carlos, I do understand your attraction to maps. I too share it and love just studying the places and their proximity to each other❤
Google Maps are all well and good.
My new 2025 Rand McNally spiral bound U.S. road atlas arrived last week. I am so excited to use it!
Yes, me too!! 😊
Dentists and clowns! Nightmare material. Good luck for the surgery. Hopefully just as fast and easy as promised. The polar bear sweater is amazing.
Arne ! Your polar bear sweater is STUNNING!🇨🇦🥰Sharon.
Wow!!! The Polar Bear pattern is fabulous 😊
The polar bear sweater is INCREDIBLE!!!! 🤩
OMG. The scary clown is in the background....
The polar bear sweater is stunning! The clown painting needs near it a cartoon cannon with flag coming out saying boom! Wonderful episode! Thank you!😊🎉❤
Love the clown painting on the yellow wall. It is perfect. Also love your sweaters ❤️🇺🇸
Candlelight, sweaters, fireplaces, my favorite things!
Loved this episode as I sat and knitted The Shift…..not an Arne and Carlos pattern but I am motivated to finish, so I can start new Christmas balls!!! Love your Jammies Arne!!! ❤❤❤
How exciting…the knit along!
The tooth extraction will be fine Carlos…don’t worry at all… it’s a common thing for dentists so they are good at it.
Too funny… the pyjama walk! Nice pyjamas though. Lovely studio.
Hello guys you two are beautiful people, love your sit and knit, I don’t knit but I can appreciate the beauty of knitting and love then jumpers but I live in Sydney Australia never cold enough here . Thanks for recap of the trips so interesting. Believe it or not but I do Jigsaw puzzles while I watch you , i’m a full-time carer of my elderly parents and give me and sure other people so much joy in watching and laughs Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️ .
Oh , boy ! I noticed the clown first thing!
Actually it looks quite cool within the context of its surroundings. Love it , Arne!
Love the sweaters you guys are sporting and the story behind them .
The price on the map is NOT TERRIBLE , Carlos! I was waiting to hear more than that !
I am knitting 🧶as I listen to you , basking in the pleasure of your company , which is WORLDS better
than listening to CNN !!! Lol lol !
Your trips sound marvelous and I was intrigued to hear all , and I’m happy to see you safely back !
Love you guys !

So glad to hear about the upcoming holiday knit alongs. Thanks for the yarn color info, too. I loved the Christmas in July stocking which I finished already, a classic pattern.- Mary
❤ The highest praise that an artist/maker can receive is appreciation/support from another artist. Kudos to you both for supporting a community of artists and contributing to the preservation of a precious environment! What beautiful souvenirs.
Arne! The polar bear sweater is stunning!
Carlos, I could listen to you naming places in Norway all day long. It flows like honey! 😍 Maps and globes - I miss them.
❤ Thank you for telling us about your trip (and for the postcards along the way.)❤
Oh good, I already have some Norwegian wool in those colours. And I’m so impressed with your Faroese sweaters. Of course you should have bought them. They are very special.
I love the. map! And it was a great geography lesson for me. Thank you for bidding! And, ah yes, we have a new dentist, too, after many years with the "old" and guess what? Like you, I have new treats (treatments) coming up. And the latest equipment. I guess that's a good thing?
I wish fall was here. It's supposed to be in the 80sF here in Nebraska ( high 20s C)
I love you guys. I hate the creepy clown.
Thank you for your fabulous story telling. Very interesting! 😊😊😊
I’m not looking at the picture as you guys talk as I find it disturbing.
Love that polar bear sweater!
The polar bears are wonderful. Thank you for another lovely episode.
Those sweaters are beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
OMG! There's a clown in the room!
I can't believe you're already talking Christmas -- it's over 100 degrees here (38c) this week! Definitely still summer. :) I'm really looking forward to fall, though....
Very nice map and any time you bid for charity, all prices are reasonable :) Great trip and sweaters. Polar bear one is really pretty, nice job on that. Another knit along....YAY!!!! Just get 3 balls of each HA HA HA. Nice little trinket box to keep the yarn samples in. The bird stocking was very nice.
I love sitting back and relaxing listening to your chats and all your adventures. Living on the other side of the world, it's so interesting hearing about other countries so far away and what everyone is up to.
I actually let out an audible gasp when Arne showed the sweater with the polar bear faces (the same reaction I had to the tiger faces from about 2 years ago)!!! Arne operates in a completely different stratosphere than most of us...I adore both of you.
Masterful deflection Arne! Just when Carlos spoke of the “elephant (clown) in the room, Arne changed the subject to XMAS knitalong! The clown is hideous!!! It soaked up all the energy in the room. I am trying to understand the appeal to Arne, but I just don’t get it!! I stand with Carlos on this one!
Loved hearing about your trip!
I know Zinklars vise. I haven’t thought about it for 20+ years. I never really knew historically what it was about and didn’t really think about the words. I knew the story about your bunad fabric but never put the two together. It’s nice to know the context…so interesting, thank you! ❤
The sweaters you purchased are gorgeous and a wonderful reminder of your adventures! My 18 year old daughter, who definitely has earned a “Black Belt” in yarn and thrift shopping, taught me something very important yesterday--you need to renew your shopping black belt at least every year!! (She gave up a ticket to a big event in order to go shopping with my father who likes to support her back belt)
You are lucky I wasn't on the cruise. I would've outbid you for that nautical chart! As I retired sailor, I would've been VERY aggressive! And yes, the framing will be ridiculously expensive.
Thank you so much for starting my morning with the beautiful picture of Freja over on IG!
I have loved following your adventures on top of the world! Thank you for sharing the amazing sights.
Glad you are safely home and I'm looking forward to the KAL!
Have a wonderful week! ❤❤🤗😘
That was such fun! Great to hear about your fabulous travels and see your new sweaters, and I was laughing my head off when Arne was sneaking around the couch in his pj’s. You are both so delightful!
Can hardly wait for the next KAL to start. Sounds like it’ll be fun!
Lovely sweaters! And that map is really interesting (I love maps). Thanks for the recap of your cruise. I definitely recommend the Shetland TV show - it’s SOOO good (just like Arne 😊).
Always great to hear the recap of your latest journey. I’m sorry to hear about your upcoming dental work, both of you! My dentist retired a couple of years ago. I adored him. Adjusting to his replacement was difficult, but very worthwhile in the long run. I had a lot of bad experiences with dentists when I was younger so I understand the anxiety. Very much looking forward to the upcoming KAL. Rest up while you can! Kind regards.
Hmm, I never thought of myself as part of a “huge group of followers.”
I do love Arne’s superimposition on the clown - and carefully travelling around and back from his seat. So charming!
The clown looks a little like Arne, although it's scary. Carlos I love the pattern on your new Faro Island sweater, so cozy. The Polar Bear sweater will be amazing when it's finished. I can't wait to see it all the way done! Boy did you do a lot of very interesting travel. Thanks for showing off your pajamas so we could see your yarn colors and the beautiful rosemaling box.
I noticed the clown picture behind you. You must be in Arne's studio. 😂
Great video! You must have felt like you were on a carousel going round and round in September. So much information I got dizzy!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I joined you for the on top of the world knitting trip in 2023. It was nice to hear a recap of the things we did. Unfortunately, I was on the trip that missed Shetland because of the storm. I still want to visit Shetland. Hopefully, someday soon. Take care! Love you both!❤
Thanks so much for your travel update from Arne's new studio. What a lovely room! I look forward to seeing your new Christmas projects.
My favorite Sunday afternoon activity is to listen to you while I sew. But, PLEASE!, no more dentist stories! I was having palpitations.
Carlos, i remember that the only way i could get through the anxiety of going to the dentist after school was to think .... " by 5pm that day i would be home eating my dinner and it would all be over". It was like sitting in a torture chamber. She use to whisper in my ear..."you have very crooked teeth". She had a bit of an accent so it was very creepy for a child to hear this. Wow, you have brought back memories 😂🥰🇨🇦Sharon.
Love the jumpers your trip sounds wonderful can’t say the same thing about the clown 🤡 ❤❤ the polar bear jumper is fantastic ❤
How amazing to see a polar bear in its natural habitat. The cruise and other trips sounded fantastic. I just read The Glassmaker by Tracy Chevalier set on Murano which I enjoyed. Thank you for sharing your travels with us.
Thank you both for a wonderful hour! 🙂
Carlos, I am also a slow knitter as you but I do finish at last! 🙂
I also love paper maps and always have them in my car though I do use Google driving directions, too.
Beautiful sweaters that you both bought, this was a fantastic video. Glad y’all had a great trip. Welcome back. ❤❤❤
Thank you guys! The map is really helpful for those of us here in America! Still heartily dislike the clown picture. Please don’t film in front of it. Of course, I don’t have to watch which is what all the comments will say!
I love maps too. Thanks for catching up. Looking forward to the Christmas knitting….YIPPEE!
Great to see you gents back! I did some traveling, too--to Poland to see my son marry his love! I enjoyed your post today--very cheering on a gloomy and rainy day. Thanks for sharing!
Love the polar bear sweater. Wish I was a knitter! You must watch Shetland, one of the best British detective shows.
It’s as though I am your 81 year old neighbor and you have taken the time stop by and visit me to report on your travels. I hope you realize how dear your special visits are to me. Such joy, thank you two so very much. I am so happy you have returned home❤️
Have you ever thought of offering day or half day zoom classes? Design, color, knitting, quilting, other?
Thank you for the travel updates! So much fun to hear about your trips for a Dane living in Texas. Hope to join one of your cruises one of these days.
Lovely SaKFaB today, ty!!! I missed the proper title to the book with a variety of patterns in it. May I have the title and author please?
Besides the clown!, I noticed your horse and the nice piece of furniture with the dollhouse on top. Is that the dollhouse for your nephew. Interesting flower wall plaques also.
I loved this episode. I love them all, but I laughed out loud over Arne's pajamas. I needed that. Thank you.
Great recap of your wonderful adventures. I can't wait for the new projects. Have to get yarn. What is the number of the yellow or gold yarn we need?
Congrats on your new room Arne! Glad you both had a fab trip(s)❤

Will there be baking shenanigans? Please say there will be baking shenanigans!!! Love the polar bear sweater!
Can’t wait to see the new Christmas ball patterns. I’ve made most of the previous patterns and need some new ones to finish out my gift list for this year.
I love your recap of the Top of the World cruise, as I was on tour with you last year at this particular week.
The Polar Bear Sweater is exquisite! Can’t wait to knit one for myself!
Characters name is Jimmy Perez. Fantastic series. It shows nice hats and sweaters in the series as well.
Love the bear pattern
Can’t wait for the pattern; it looks complicated

It looks like you had a great trip!
Hi guys. Nice sweaters. ❤ thanks for sharing your trip.
I want that polar bear sweater, yesterday! Are there any websites where we can buy sweaters from the Faroese people?
So good to see you both. You're always so inspiring.❤
What will the project be, stocking, hat, ?
Your new sweaters are gorgeous!! And you must support other designers 😊
I don’t knit one bit and I don’t even know how to knit but I love watching you guys
❤ Another great SAKFAB guys! You’re the best
Was this a Hurtigruten cruise? I could not find it on their site?
I'm glad to see the clown picture, I love it!❤
Do they do twilight sleep or happy gas in Norway?
💙🩷❤️ Love Keeping Up Appearances 💜💙🩵
The studio looks great -- the wall color is gorgeous!!!!
I love your sweaters. Just incredible
Are they thrummed, or is it a different technique?
Wow, love the polar bear sweater. Great work Arnie.
Great episode! And exciting things ahead!
The map price was quite reasonable.
Amazing polar bear sweater. It made me gasp!

Thank you!
The sweater Arne is wearing is one of my Navia designs ❤
I like the clown pic Arne, see u found a home for it
44:23 Jimmy Perez. I saw his house in May this year.
I love your jumpers love your video as always
Gentlemen…. Nice to have you back. love Love Love those sweaters….. can’t wait to join you on one of those knitting cruises to purchase my own lovely sweaters. Another perspective on your purchases of sweaters could be “because of your very discerning taste and skill sets, you are happy to honor the artisans and support their work”. Silly people…. Such an attitude suggests that artists must ALWAYS only make their own works!
When, is the next “knitting on top of the world trip”? I’ve been on the coastal ship up the Norway coasts a half dozen times, but never made it to Svalbard.
Thanks gentlemen for all you do!
Unfortunately, this was the last time Hurtigruten did this route. So next year, our Knitting on Top of the World trip will go to Greenland.
OH that polar bear sweater Arne is making.....wow...it's ahhhhmazing!!!
😍😍
Oohhh you will enjoy the Shetland series!
Wow Arne, so beautiful I love it
