I really appreciate that the protagonists in all of the books I've read don't base their worth on whether they have children or not. 😅 Anyway, I had such a huge smile while watching this! Ahhh her novels bring me so much joy! I'm really excited to get to A House With Good Bones. 😊 Also the audiobook for What Moves the Dead is narrated by a nonbinary person, which to me is pretty cool.

She's so good at making strangeness fill you with dread! Before I read The Hollow Places I wouldn't have believed that fictional trees could be so creepy lol

I love love LOVE T Kingfisher. (And also Ursula Vernon -- if you haven't read her Hamster Princess series, you should -- so wonderful and twisted in the most delightful ways.) I read What Moves the Dead and felt I might have missed some things, so I went back and listened to the audiobook. The narrator is Avi Rocque, a transmasculine actor, and OMG, Avi's narration adds even more to the story, especially since the story is told in the first person by a nonbinary sworn soldier. So so good and well worth listening to!!
Nettle and Bone and the three impossible tasks! That is so illustrative of Kingfisher's sense of humor.
I've read Swordheart and the Paladin series, and also A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking. I'm more into her fantasy than horror, but I will probably dip my toes into that because I love her writing so much. I have not found one thing she's written that I do not adore.
    Love you review, Willow!

Thank you so incredibly much. She really is an incredible author. She became a favourite instantly.
I’ve also just learnt that she has cancer and has or is undergoing treatment. I’m so devastated for her and hope she is ok. I think it’s an even better reason for people to try buy ALL her books to help with paying for treatments and everything else. She really is an absolutely incredible author and people should buy them anyway though( I hope that makes sense💙).
Thank you so incredibly much for doing a spotlight on her work too.
Also, I have been a subscriber for a while but am too shy to comment- I love your personality and reviews- thank you so incredibly much

Yes I loved the idea of fairy godmother who's realy skilled in curses but can only bless with good health because nothing else sticks.

First book of her I read was A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking and I loved it so much. It's more on the YA/middle grade side, but its so funny, a little dark and continues with her trend of twisting tropes, I really really recommend it.

I started with The Twisted Ones, then read The Hollow Places and now I'm reading A House with Good Bones. T. Kingfisher has a casual, humorous narrative voice that makes these books easy reads. I like how her protagonists tend to be middle aged women in their 30's who are normal people competent at some things but self-with doubts as well.

Excellent summary of what makes her books great! If you haven't yet read anything she's written as her given name, her Digger webcomic is an award-winning classic for a reason, and you can read it free online. She's as good as artist as a writer and Digger is SO full of personality and twisty little stabs of darkness and insight.

I'm currently reading Nettle and Bone and loving it, It's dark but there’s quite a lot of humour in it. I rarely laugh out loud while i'm reading, but the demon chicken made me chuckle. Can't wait to sink my teeth into the rest of Kingfisher's books. Great video as always Willow x

I'm halfway through my first Kingfisher - The Twisted Ones - and absolutely loving it. The fantasy/horror blend gives it a surreal tint that, in the context of where it's set, adds to the underlying feeling of unease. Beautifully written.

The Seventh Bride predates the Twisted Ones by years - dark fantasy but also funny. Her earlier self published T Kingfisher stuff is also amazing

I have read The Twisted Ones, The Hollow Places, and A House With Good Bones. I absolutely loved all of them. I desperately was to see The Hollow Places as a film. The thing that I love about them is her blend of irreverent humour and dark creepiness. I have What Moves the Dead on my TBR pile.

I’m so happy you like Kingfisher. She’s become one of my favourite authors, discovering her back in 2018. She creates such great characters that grab you from practically the first page. Can’t wait to see what you think of her books in the Temple of the White Rat universe (Wonder Engine / Swordheart / Saint of Steel). I’m tempted to re-read them all, but first making my way through all her backlog 😊 Looking forward to the new one, Thornedge, coming out in Aug.

I only just started the video, but yesss! She's one of those writers that, despite the fact I haven't read anything of hers yet, I just have a Feeling™ that she'll work really well for my tastes. Thank you for another video!
Take care in the heat 💀 The one thing keeping me going through the discomfort and humidity is that my bearded dragon is practically in heaven being able to bask in sunbeams lately. Hopefully the weather breaks soon, though 😅

From less grim spectrum I also read "The wizzard's guide to defence baking" even if it's targeted for younger audiences I really liked it. It had some parattchety vibes and common who can say no to bread golems dancing battle can-can and evil gingerbread men?

I love this author. So excited that there will be a follow up to what moves the dead! I was a bit disappointed with her latest (house with good bones) but enjoyed Hollow places

Love all your videos! Full of depth, insight, humour, and respect. May I ask why you don’t have a ‘thanks’ option where we can, as you say, ‘throw you a little money’ when we particularly enjoy your offering?

Honestly it’s just because the jargon I got hit with when trying to set one up just scared me! Taxes and legal jargon, I got nervous! But I do have a Patreon :)

I adored "What Moves the Dead", but I'm not sure how I feel about the upcoming "What Feasts at Night" - does WMTD really need a sequel? Well, I'm going to read it, of course.
