    I have heard and read several books on habits and concepts along the lines of 'Tiny Habits', 'Atomic Habits', 'Micro Habits' exist. One jumping jack a day may well turn into more, what matters is getting your foot in the door and lowering the threshold so it feels doable. When I first went to the gym, my only objective was to go in there, get changed and be there for ten minutes. Not to work out. I have now increased my 'one push up a day' to mostly ten or more, but it's easier to keep the rule to 'one' so when I feel really exhausted, I will usually still be able to do one and feel disciplined enough to have held up my end of the habit bargain.

    Discipline is an identity you develop. Wisdom right out of the gate, great way to start the clip Cal. If you are not consistent it's not a failure of discipline, it's a failure to plan. Understanding your habits and limits in common situations better makes you better at planning.

    This is absolute invaluable wisdom and advice. I just want to say - if you’re doing 30 legitimate burpees every waking hour (or perhaps, every work hour?), that’s pretty beast mode. 240 - 480 of burpees a day. If that was all you did exercise wise, and everything else was in check (diet sleep etc), you’d be doing pretty well

Workout = 3 x 15 Min.
    2. mache dies beispielsweise 3 Monate lang

    "Cal explains that discipline is an identity you have to develop. Once you believe yourself to be a disciplined person you can then apply discipline to many new areas. To get to that identity in the first place, you have to integrate some baseline disciplines." - so, in order to become disciplined you have to be disciplined.. Super useful..

      Programming the mind into seeing yourself as a fucking beast is an underrated skill. After quitting anti-depressants, I took a look at myself and announced to my mind that I am a fucking beast and I will take my body to any extent to get the outcome I want. I envision myself as a Soul, in charge of this machine and ain't no way this machine is refusing to carry out any action that I have decided is going to advance me in life. Get disgusted with unhelpful feedback from the mind. Goggins style.
      This also helped me get out of the 'trick' mindset. These deep work, flow, time blocking, pomodoro concepts... not going into whether it works or not... can go to hell. Don't get me wrong, they absolutely work for a whole lot of guys... but I'm not asking anyone outside of ME what works for me. It works for me to straightaway start whatever it is that I want and then keep listening to my own experience how this body ("machine') is giving me the most results... add this with reading about these concepts and applying them to gauge their efficacy in my particular case. Sooner than later you'll begin noting really insightful things about getting shit done out of your own precious experiences and newer tasks will not cause as much resistance... just like weight training would have given you insights about consistency and progressively increasing difficulty levels for any task. All the best

    How do you prevent discipline from becoming mindless obsession that has no benefit? Lets take doing 10,000 steps a day as an example. I done this for a while, felt good, but noticed the more I done it, the more I rationalised with myself that I have to do it every day to have a sense of accomplishment and feel happy. In other words something so simple took over my mind and I became chained to this metric and feeling terrible if I did not do it on a certain day, which is just ridiculous That is just an example.

      10k steps is too big a target. I have also struggled with the things you just mentioned. But when I reduced my target to 6k steps a day, it did wonders to my peace of mind. I now feel much more relaxed compared to the time when target was 10k. Also, I still manage to hit 10k more often then not. So, in my opinion lowering your target helps.

    If we are all going to die, and trillions of years will pass after our deaths, then ultimately, what will be the difference between "going after it" versus not "going after it?" A trillion years from the time of your death, you won't be around to rejoice or regret what you did or didn't do.

    • @nitin_puranik
      @nitin_puranik 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Lol dude, easy with the big numbers 😂 Trillions, you say? How about 50 years after one's death? No matter what you do, you're largely forgotten in half a century or so after you pass. Now in 2022, how many people that died in the 1970s can you remember, even in your own family? But yeah sure, a trillion seems reasonable. Not as ambitious as, say, a quadrillion years. Now doing things that have impact even after a quadrillion or a quintillion years might take some planning. Yeah, sounds like effort that's worth it.
