PS4 Slim Fan Cleaning - Easier Than You Think!

- I show an easy way to clean the fan on a PS4 Slim. It's much easier than on other models and you don't even have to remove a single screw or void your warranty.
To get to the fan on the PS4 Slim simply remove the top cover...once that's done you can use canned air or compressed air to clean all dust and debris out of the fan.

After doing this my ps4 slim went from a Saturn V Rocket, to me literally thinking something was wrong with the console considering how quite it got, I legit can play warzone now with just a slight small fan noise. Thank you my man, I've never cleaned the damn thing since the slim came out, so wow.

I was so close to giving up and selling my PS4 for like 30 bucks. I could hop onto GTA and fly military jets with the sound off because it was more realistic and immersive that way.
I popped the cover open, checked the fan with a flashlight- wasn't as bad as i had hoped. i managed to unscrew all but one screw (i legit used kitchen knives) on the metal plate covering the fan area so i lifted/bent the metal part gently and booooom- the heatsink was filled with nasty dust and shit.
i carefully cleaned it with a brush and a can of compressed air from the opening i managed to create.
PS4's flight has finally landed, guys. it's literally as silent as the day i bought it.

JUST A HEADS UP: I dont think there's a clip in the middle, or it at least doesn't come into play. THERE ARE HOWEVER clips on both sides of the cover at the middle. I discovered this when I slightly cracked the top cover, thinking the from clips would free it completely. So go slow and easy guys! Make sure to take care with those side clips. Still easy, just FYI.
My tip: Pull up on the side slightly as you're you're doing the front corners. Or try to do the side and corner at the same time. Either way, be gentle bending back the corner if the side is still fastened.
I do this every week, my PlayStation is in a very dusty environment and now this cleaning process is very normal to me

It's not completely silent when I am rdr2, but it is so much better. Before this, I could hear the ps4 over the game with headphones on. Now I can barely hear it at all with them off. Thank you so much.

This helped a lot! I’ve been looking for videos where they don’t take the top of the fan off cuz it was so hard,this really helped imma go get a straw now also my ps4 would turn off and sound really loud while I played fortnite and my best friend told me to watch videos of why it happens and when I first looked in the fan it’s so durty

It's crazy how big of a difference it makes. Mine is also now very quiet and it is also maintaining frame rates better on games that get a little laggy at times such as Days Gone

Omg thank you!!!! I had this fan problem with my PS3 and I was always scared to open it and clean the fan. I got the PS4 slim during December and the first thing I thought was "can I open this and not break it" and it is so easy thank you I'll be cleaning this often😋

this is really good because its easy for all ages i am 12 and took the top off and grabbed the air can and it worked so well its so silent

Sure, you'll likely get better airflow...you also might drop your change right into the spinning fan so I wouldn't recommend it.

Anonymous Assassin You can leave the top off when you are playing the games, but put it back when you are not. Dust might get in the sistem.

Dustin Hawk don't know where you heard that from. First off, both Slim & Pro models run cooler and better than original PS4 model. Second you don't need to maintain it at all I got my PS4 Slim and my bros PS4 Pro since day one and not opened it up once and it's all fine. This video is for those who wants to clean it inside but you don't have to if you don't want to.

yeah i didnt have that fancy pressurized air bottle so i used a bicycle air pump and a leaf blower instead

Phil maybe it's while playing some specific games like gow3 remastered. mine fat version does it too. but remains quite while playing other games. Although your case may be different.

Henry Dorsett Case I've been doing this as sometimes the fan fails to turn on and the system shuts down. Just hit the vents on the front near the USB ports and around the corner from them.

Well,i know the plastic cover basically sits on the powerbank so it does get hot quick even tho there's an air vent on the side
Yep, it's going to get hot...it's the power supply so it's always going to get hot. The heat sink is also right close to the cover so that's going to make it hot as well. It's completely normal for it to get hot.

I have a days of play ps4 Slim, and where you have screws I have black plastic rivets. What would be your suggestion to cleaning it? I'd send you a picture if I could.
Playing games off the harddrive really helps reduce the sounds even game disc that are downloaded it doesn't run the disc if you downloaded a game disc to the harddrive.
I cleaned my fan a few times doing that but recently removed metal cover and found that the cooler next to fan was completely plugged up I cleaned it out now ps4 is really quiet and performed much better .

hi can i ask if its normal i play god of war sometimes the fan starts to kick in for maybe a minute then turns off, im guessing if its normal when the system cools down a bit then automatically shuts off the fan then if its getting hot the fan starts to kick again?thanks guys

Can you hold the fan in place while cleaning it so it doesn't end up spinning fast or will that ruin the fan? Just worried about it spinning too fast while cleaning it and would rather eliminate the spinning completely if at all possible so I can get a thorough clean. Great video
Sure you can hold it. If you're using canned air it's not going to spin too fast.
