    Just had to chime-in that Kara's point at around ~32:50 in that the Left isn't facing-up to the reality of how many of these figures are kinda/sorta just rampaging across the landscape, capriciously doing (or destroying) whatever they want is just **weak**, or non-serious, or soft-headed. ...This is the exact point that figures like Noam Chomsky and Ralph Nader have also made.
    ...Fwiw I'm happy to add my own vote on that with them. The progressive Left really does need to face-up to some hard truths, and until it does, we've really got trouble out there, since they're the only place remaining from whom we can hope for reforms, etc. etc. The Left really needs to dig-dieep to understand the mechanics of power.

      The Right needs to return to sanity.

    Actually, I think the reaction on the left, generally, is that we still want to believe that we elect people who actually care about their constituents and who believe in the rule of law. I tend to see that as naive these days, and that the self-rightousness is definitely on the right.

      Charlie Sykes talking about penises. What a freak

    Great podcast, again. Modest proposal: make taxes on unearned income steeply progressive and introduce a tiny sales tax, say 0.1%, on stock and bond sales.

    Of course oligarchs want no government, and to replace it with capitalism, because if it was, hat would happen?
    The very rich would become literal kings. It astounds me that people who aren't filthy rich don't notice this little detail. A corporation is not a democracy, it's a dictatorship and who owns the most stock in the corporation is the king and the others, who own less, are his lesser lords. Think carefully, because if this is how you want to live, if you want to be ruled instead of governed by someone YOU can help remove if they become too greedy or even murderous, then you are a fool.

    The edit at ( 16:00 - 16:30 for context) the end of this segment is so obvious. She puts her opinion on the table, then he doesn't have a great response.
    I can just imagine Charlie & Kara going back and forth for three or four minutes on this specific point. Him trying to add nuance to the "rolling over" and her constant rebuttal is "C'mon dude, seriously?"

    I am not impressed by this "oh, we knew, but who cares" attitude when NOT CARING is the crux of the issue.

    Was there more to this interview? There's no proper ending, or rather it's an abrupt one that comes mid-sentence and mid-thought.

    Can't recall where I first saw it, but re: the Left's "can you believe they did that?": The American Left acts as if they expect the manager to show up any minute and sort this whole thing out.

    • @thomasayresol
      @thomasayresol 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. And the American Right acts as if they were born the manager, have always been the manager and always will be.

      I don't think Biden and Pelosi, et. al. are confused, they know exactly what they're dealing with. Still, many of the rest of us just don't want to believe it.

    Hank you for the Mary trump comment. What is up with everyone playing up to her? She’s a little crazy. And she is a name caller and very immature. I don’t understand.
