That's the scary thing about an injury like that. Your career depends on it. I recently got kicked in the face by a sheep (long story). It wasn't the pain that freaked me out. It was knowing my tooth will never be the same again. I will always have a half fake front tooth now. I can't even imagine how he would be freaking out.
His chin, head, knee and left ribs were injured! But that guy has so much ambition...over human! ❤ But what happened to that Chinese skater? Was he worse than Yuzuru??? He didn't seem be much affected but...he could too damaged his ribs...at that colision speed! :(

Hi is strong and not delicate. I'm sure a head injury will mess up a person's balance not to mention the head throbbing. I give him a lot of credit but it is scary to think how badly he could have gotten hurt if he would have hit is head on the ice when losing his balance. He is definitely a force to be reckoned with!

By 'delicate' maybe OP means the fact that Yuzu does have health problems (atshma)? Not to mention his injuries. But he sure is strong and imho, you can still be 'delicate' and hella strong at the same time!
Figure skating competitions, very sadly, are mostly based on already done maths. The jumps etc. have their solid points for them and that's what they get. That also explains Yuzuru's Origin program. I, myself, loved the Origin program but Nathan Chen's program got him more points. No feelings involved for the judges... It's kind of sad.
If there were broken bones and brain damage that they couldn’t diagnose there without hospital equipments, it would be very dangerous not just for his career also for his life. If I were his coach, I wouldn’t let him skate before he goes to hospital. But he wanted to do this for Grand Prix, if he withdraw from China Cup, he wouldn’t participate in Grand Prix Final. It’s still madness to me, we were worried for him a lot. 🥺
I found about yuzuru just today while scrolling down TH-cam and I'm already ready to die for him, the passion he has, the power he has, the spirit he has...I already am a die heart fan, I'm already in love with him, I salute this man.
I like these commentators actually. They seemed very worried and considerate of Hanyu once they saw him close up. Even that commentator who said Yuzuru should go ahead and he's made of tough stuff acknowledged the injuries several times.
"We're going to take a quick break while the skaters are warming up and nothing interesting is happening" ...and now we've missed the most dramatic accident ever.
The way he cried when he saw 1st place on the screen, it's so touching. Even if eventually he came out 2nd place , but the moment he saw that after his performance, the scores he obtained meant he was in the 1st place.... wow. I think it was the most emotional and most special 1st place for him in all his career. I think, even for the 2 olympic titles put together he wouldn't enjoy as much he enjoyed that no 1 that he saw then on the screen. His reaction said everything and he has skated in those conditions but he never gave up. He is a real fighter and also the most sensitive guy as well. I think that was the most valuable, distinguished and precious 1st place that he have seen in all his career in the right of his scores. What a guy is Yuzuru Hanyu!
Poor guy... anyone would be so frustrated, working with all the effort for so long to get the 1st place, and so much frustrating is the fact that he didnt injured on ir during his performance... he got injured before. oh gosh he is definitely deserved his 11 world records...his performance during this 2014 is also one of the best. i couldn't stop crying watching the whole video
Man... He went 100% for those quads and 3A (all of them fully rotated)... To do such difficult jumps in that physical condition requires a lot of guts and determination. As a competitive skater myself, when I'm even with a little injury, it stays in the back of my head everytime I'm preparing to jump my doubles... Can't imagine the mental strength he had to have to finish this program. True Champion.👏👏👏👏

I've been a fan since Pyeongchang, got super obsessed with him and knew this incident. But i could never bring myself to watch this because it's so hard to do so .. finally i felt like I was ready to, and I am so glad I watched this because my admiration towards him just went up another level. I have never seen anyone as strong as Yuzuru, I want to support him forever. It was sooo heartbreaking to hear his sobs my god
I already saw this several times... but, especially at around 14:56 and 19:12 , i still cant understand how calm and peaceful his face was, he was so invested in the program, even singing the song, while i bet his body must be hurting him a lot and his face was already so pale 😢

And what did I mean by that? Yuzuru was not caring about his injuries, even though he was very weak, but rather caring about his performance, whether he was doing well or not,I believe that crying can be mixed with several emotions: fear, joy,pain and relief. That's why I admire him so much, he works so hard♥️
I was so shocked when I found this performance, and couldn't help shivering while watching, and then cried out. What a soul with strong and determined mind! The falls kept pushing yuzuru and the audience into a cliff of the desperation. Helpless and heartbreaking and yet you see the beauty and the emotions combined so well with those falls....I will never ever forget this program. No one would.
It's hard to believe that this isn't a Movie but Real life. How can a person has so much strength and dedication? This man is so inspirational, this man is Yuzuru Hanyu
Desperately hoping that Thursday will have a movie outcome... I don't think gold is possible, but I hope for his sake that he's able to land that 4A. He is skating beautifully and is in good condition, so I believe that whatever happens he'll give it his all
Update: he didn't land it, but it was the first certified 4A. He skated with an injured ankle, on a foot he couldn't feel. He truly did give it his all and we're so proud of him
Hanyu is the strongest person, he survive the earthquake, he survive being the best athlete with his asthma and now he finish her performance beautifully even it hurt so much with that condition, he sure badly injury

我從來沒有看過滑冰可以滑得像他好看的選手，男生通常肌肉比較多表演起來也是身體稍微比較僵硬，但是羽生的表現就好像他是在冰上出生的，他的一切動作都是那麼的自然優美。他受傷的表演正好搭上歌劇魅影，感覺像就像是那位住在地下室的魅影，內心受傷而祈求愛。羽生是美的極致。同時他的意志力太驚人了。我被深深的感動著。羽生意志。music of the night. Thank you! Deeply touched. That was perfect.
He cant barely walk, and hard to breath, but still... he bow to the rink before use his blade protector and went to kiss and cry spot. I was hesitate to watch this performance, it just too much! But when i finally push myself to watch until the end with eyes wide open. Though my heart broken, but i am grateful to be a witness of Hanyu brave, strong heart and mind, what a marvelous human being. He deserved where he belong right now. And I'm sure he still have so much to offers. Keep flying Hanyu!!

It makes me distressed because he was hurting his body, but it was a very important experience in his life. He looks like a emotional person in this video. But actually he is a intellectual man and has a will of iron.
part of Yuzu's charm is how people are just attracted and drawn to him. You want to protect him. He looks so delicate and boyish but he has this internal grit and a steel mind! Amazing!
How much pain he had to endure....he got stitches around the jaw and back of ears....yet he managed to complete the performance with his maximum endurance and power of will. Anybody should be proud of his pure and intense love for the skating and his greatest passion.
I like B.ESP commentators, they really care about yuzuru and in other programs you can see how supportive he is (I think the commentator is the same person??? )
All of his performances are art - but this, seeing how he keeps on so gracefully after falling, how he conquers his fear and his own limitations is incredibly inspiring! I wish he didn't have to go through so much pain, but seeing his drive and love for what he's doing and how it's pushing him in this performance... wow. I'll remember this. He is really amazing!! I’m so impressed. I couldn’t realize that his condition had been terrible as much as he couldn’t even stand by himself until he finished performing and left the ice link. How strong heart and will he has! Further, he showed us his strong and brave heart again at the Olympic and Russia Cup in 2018, and at GPF in 2019. He never gives up challenging and went through all the difficulties...really incredible. I admire him so much!

I can't watch this performance without getting tears in my eyes regarding Yuzuru's bravery. I also really like the announcer's, both former skaters they are always on the skater's side.
There needs to be movie about Yuzuru Hanyu. Not only because of this injury and how he persevered and still performed an son silver but because of all the many many many MANY struggles, injuries and sicknesses he's been through and he still preserved through it all and got to where he is today. 2014年グランプリシリーズの時ですね、本当にあの時は心か痛みました、それでも羽生結弦選手の強い精神力で滑りきった事記憶にしっかり残っています、感動です。
何度見てもすごい。諦めず自分の信念を通す、傷ついても痛みに耐えながら何度も何度も立ち上がる、真の王者を誇りに思う。
だけど、泣きます。
この時の羽生結弦さんの決断が，正しかったか どうかは別として負けん気強さは世界一。
この気力の強さが、今の演技に 繋がっているのでしょう。
中国の選手と衝突したところから生で見てたけどまさか出るとは思ってなかったし、最後までやりきれると思ってなかった。失敗しても何度も立ち上がってやったことが素晴らしいことだとおもう。

我從來沒有看過滑冰可以滑得像他好看的選手，男生通常肌肉比較多表演起來也是身體稍微比較僵硬，但是羽生的表現就好像他是在冰上出生的，他的一切動作都是那麼的自然優美。他受傷的表演正好搭上歌劇魅影，感覺像就像是那位住在地下室的魅影，內心受傷而祈求愛。羽生是美的極致。同時他的意志力太驚人了。我被深深的感動著。羽生意志。music of the night. Thank you! Deeply touched. That was perfect.

確かに感動できる根性ではあるけどプロ目線だと後先考えるとなると正直言って良くはない。ただ決めるのは本人だ。それは仕方ない。

He cant barely walk, and hard to breath, but still... he bow to the rink before use his blade protector and went to kiss and cry spot.
I was hesitate to watch this performance, it just too much! But when i finally push myself to watch until the end with eyes wide open. Though my heart broken, but i am grateful to be a witness of Hanyu brave, strong heart and mind, what a marvelous human being. He deserved where he belong right now. And I'm sure he still have so much to offers. Keep flying Hanyu!!

I couldn't bear to watch it as it was so painful to witness & to feel his pain. He fell again & again & got up again & again refusing to give up. So much mental & physical strength

Он свою гениальность всей своей жизнью в спорте доказал много раз, но как же больно смотреть на это столкновение. Люблю Юдзуру и очень уважаю, как личность. Здоровья ему и успехов во всем!

It makes me distressed because he was hurting his body, but it was a very important experience in his life. He looks like a emotional person in this video. But actually he is a intellectual man and has a will of iron.
I’m so impressed by him, he never gave up and at the end he was so amazing despite the crash before, he is really my favorite ice skater
part of Yuzu's charm is how people are just attracted and drawn to him. You want to protect him. He looks so delicate and boyish but he has this internal grit and a steel mind! Amazing!

How much pain he had to endure....he got stitches around the jaw and back of ears....yet he managed to complete the performance with his maximum endurance and power of will.
Anybody should be proud of his pure and intense love for the skating and his greatest passion.
You can see on he's eyes, no matter what happen to him. He's not giving up. Thank you yuzuru for giving the best performance in the skate world.

I like B.ESP commentators, they really care about yuzuru and in other programs you can see how supportive he is (I think the commentator is the same person??? )
All of his performances are art - but this, seeing how he keeps on so gracefully after falling, how he conquers his fear and his own limitations is incredibly inspiring! I wish he didn't have to go through so much pain, but seeing his drive and love for what he's doing and how it's pushing him in this performance... wow. I'll remember this. Lots of respect for this incredible man!

I can't watch this performance without getting tears in my eyes regarding Yuzuru's bravery. I also really like the announcer's, both former skaters they are always on the skater's side.
There needs to be movie about Yuzuru Hanyu. Not only because of this injury and how he persevered and still performed an son silver but because of all the many many many MANY struggles, injuries and sicknesses he's been through and he still preserved through it all and got to where he is today. Yuzuru Hanyu is an outstanding ice skater and an even more outstanding human being.
I love Phantom of the Opera! And God... I wanted to hug him, even injured he did it until the end. Really, he is gorgeous!

I take the liberty to say, as a Japanese, that usually Japanese people dislike having someone step inside of their heart. no offence, but Japanese people don't like to be hugged or comforted very much by other people, unless they're very close.
Mori Mori Hm... I get it, asian people are really closed. I'm brazilian and things here are different. We hug everyone as greet, even if it's not a close one. So a hug, for me, is completely normal ~ It's warm and you send good vibes for the other. But of course, our cultures aren't similar, but I respect your way of thinking :3
Well true, but I think Yuzuru will be more open to hugs since he's been exposed to the western culture for so long. Now you can see him greeting people from other countries by a hug and is fine with it. Or maybe I'm just saying this to convince myself that I can hug him hahaha XD
