ILYUSHIN IL-62 - The Last IL62 Freighter worldwide - LANDING and DEPARTURE (4K, RARE!)

  • I tried to film this Ilyushin IL-62 for almost three years and last week I finally managed to film the landing and the departure of this classic russian airplane at Liege Airport. This is one of only three converted Ilyushin IL-62 Cargo airplanes. All of them used to operate for the russian company Kapo until they ceased operations. As far as I know two IL-62 Freighers were taken over by Rada Airways from Belarus (one of them for parts) and another IL62F was purchased by Manascargo which also ceased operations a few months ago. The shown Ilyushin IL-62 is EW-450TR and it was deliverd to Inferflug in 1985. A flying piece of history.
    This should be my personal favorite video of the year. Filiming these rare planes is my biggest goal when it comes to planespotting and this might be one of the rarest airplanes I have ever filmed. Last year my highlight was the Antonov An-22 of ADB.
    Rada Airways is a company from Belarus which mainly operates cargo charter flights from Europe to Africa. It arrived with a delay of 27 hours.
    Thanks for watching my Ilyushin IL-62 video. New videos every tuesday and friday.

      there is no beauty to this airplane, it was a stolen design that the rest of the world flew years before us but we were so locked down we didn’t know anything and assumed it was modern. They couldn’t even do a good job copying the design, it was a flying coffin with engines so badly designed they had to use 4 on the tail and the plane was all manually controlled, how embarrassing. But that’s what the eastern block was known for-propaganda and poorly copied Western design. the world was already flying in boeing 747s years before this pile of junk, and mind you the much older boeing 707, and 747, each sold around 1400 units (2800 combined), while the il 62 barely sold 290. Not to mention the boeing 737 sold over 10000 units. Yet the number of il 62 crashes are almost the same as the boeing planes even though there were way less il 62 in circulation with less hours of flight time per plane.

      - утяжеление хвоста (проблема с центровкой; выше вероятность tailstrike при взлёте/посадке и пр. - из-за этого присобачили колесо на хвосте)
      - при разрушении двигателя(ей) высока вероятность почти полностью потерять управление, потому что могут быть повреждены рули высоты и направления

      Колесо на хвосте присобачили вовсе не из-за вероятности касания хвостом полосы на взлете/посадке, а из-за того что на стоянке именно пустой самолет может "присесть на попу" под воздействием природных сил, сильного ветра например. И выпускалось это колесо исключительно на стоянке.

    Great video . I remember flying on one of these from Havana to Gatwick about 10 years or so ago with Cubana when I had been expecting a DC10. I have to say I was just a little scared , but it made it . It was such a strange experience flying in virtual silence, as there you could hardly hear any noise from the engines, just wind, due to their position, not like most passenger aircraft these days with engines on the wings . A lovely aircraft . Brought back those memories .

      @ADi3ek 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, riiight... Not to mention dodgy engines and their infamous unreliability. And if one engine fails, most likely others would follow due to their proximity. These birds were often called a "flying coffins" by pilots for a reason...

      @Adrian Wieczorek Ahhh, that old 'Russian junk libel'. Do you realize that it is statistically safer than any contemporary aircraft of similar class? And it looks even better when you are looking into the causes of accidents. Engine failures were mostly a mark of single shoddy carrier (guess which) thinking it knows better and used its own maintenance protocol.

    Wow what a nice looking plane! Plus 4 engines! Sounded great taking off! Bit of a bouncy landing though lol I liked when you could see the IL-62 and the DC-10 in the background!

    Nothing speaks to me like an IL-62. A true classic aircraft and long may she fly.

      @Tomasz Wojciechowski I'd say that *any* aircraft that suffers a fatal accident would be tragic whether the Il-62, DC10 or 737MAX8.

    YOU have to be there to really appreciate the sounds of those 4 engines while taxiing, VERY distinctive hum only partially captured on this video . Nice cargo conversion as the IL-62 came with it's own built-in tail stand strut and wheel, so tipping is not an issue.
