- For today’s video, the Oregon CRV Gang hosted an all-comers group meetup at McGowan Creek/Shotgun Creek OHV area. We had a great turnout and some awesome first generation crvs along! Watch as we get down and dirty out in the Cascade foothills!

I just bought a 2000 CRV about 3 weeks ago now.. I've always been attracted to these cars and never knew there was such a following! I look forward to sprucing mine up a bit!

I got an 08 CRV that I've soft roaded in. No major upgrades other than better tires. It's pretty good. Wish more aftermarket parts existed for this gen.

Both of my dailys are toys. My B16a civic screams like a bike at 8200rpm during the summer and my Jeep Liberty sport, snacks on snow storms and crawls rocks like walking on stairs.
Looks like a great time. Its always hard to show how steep a hill is on video. Keep up the great videos

Good times, thanks for posting! So does your CRV have a manual transmission - and if so - does it have a low range? We took our 2015 CRV with the CVT transmission in the dry mountains of Utah, didn't go so well on steep rocky roads.

I have a 2000 Honda CR-V EX. It has nearly 280K, and it is still RUNNING and DRIVING just as good when it was brand new.

Also, did you guys pick up the bullets? I do a lot of trash cleanup and that is one of the most common things I find people to leave behind.

I’m making my crv into an off-road/daily rn I’m putting a 4 inch lift and some 31s on it just gotta find the perfect brush guard
Don't go to high 3inch is perfect for the body displacement
Trust me you will get nasty body roll with anything higher without dropping the subframe m

josh oldham thank you! I’d reccomend a good set of all terrain tires first, possibly paired with a lift. Out of everything I’ve done, that definitely plays the largest part in how I’m able to go where I go.
I have an 03 CRV AWD. I'm running 215/75r15 Firestone A/T on factory suspension and wheels. Crazy what this things can do with A/T tires and a little momentum.
Hahaha, just get a dodge caravan. But if you're stuck on Honda just sell it and get an Odyssey, its more capable than any of these ever could be...

Hello, new here. Question? I love this video, Ive been shopping for a Honda CRV 2007-2011. not for off roading basically just for camping and taking weekend road trips and just around town. I am wondering why they come in 4 cycl. and have 17 in. tires on them? I cant picture they would get "good gas milage" huge tires and only using 4 cycl. to pull them big tires? what are your thoughts on this? wont that over work the engine causing it to overheat? what else can you tell me about it..I subscribed today. love seeing what a Honda CRV can do..Thanks..

Just bought a crv and I’m super jazzed about it. Need to fix it up a bit though. Will the auto trans hold me back a bit? I plan on adding a cooler to keep trans temps lower.

Use your gear limiter (1,2, maybe D3), and the automatic transmission shouldn't be a problem.
If you leave it in D, I'm sure the ECU will make offroading less than pleasant, since it's not tuned for offroad use and there's no offroad ecu setting
If that Ek civic can make it up there...Pretty much anything would. 🤦🏻♂️

I have a 2001 CRV , has anyone had trouble with the valves taking it by themselves and taking out the head? I have to just my heads every 1500 miles that’s with a new head.

What is a good CR-V overland/off road forum?
what's your set up?
i'm thinking of giving mine a 2" lift and running some 235/75 off road tires. i have the bull bar with fog lights already. any advice ? i also have a roof rack but i never use it lol it's more for looks
My first car was a 2wd 4runner. Had a roof rack I got from a friend after he wrecked his RAV4 and i also put a stupid antenna on it that wasn't connected to anything. It looks great lol

Well. That looks fun. I'm thinking about buying a 2001 CRV. High mileage at 232,000. Good condition. I need a decent vehicle (not for off road). Asking price is 1,800. Any input is welcome. Owner drove on beach some so a little off road play. Says struts pop when he goes over bigger bumps but that didn't bother him or the drivability of vehicle. 13-1,400 seems more fair price. Does anyone know how many miles you can get out of a 2001 Honda CR-V? (Currently has 232,000).
The Dodge Caravan and Honda Odyssey minivans are more capable off road bro. But to be straight, a honda can run for 300k+ miles with no rebuild or main bearings needed. Biggest things are oil change intervals, type of oil used and timing belt. Ask how recent the timing belt was changed. Only run a thinner high detergent full-synthetic oil like Mobile1 in short-change intervals to clean any sludge out, that's the bigger issue. Other than that, it will be electrical, and basic tune up stuff.

Michael Miller biggest reason is budget. My whole goal was to find something easy on the budget to buy into, repairs easy enough to work on it myself, easy on gas (daily driver), get me to spots around the state for exploring/camping/mountain biking. It’s done all of that and then some for me! I’d surely love to have a 4Runner or something mechanically more capable offroad in the not so distant future, but I’m enjoying this cheap Honda so much it’s hard to want anything else right now. And as far as capability, it already takes me to more places within 2 hours of home, than I have the free time to check off the list and explore. Plus I’m saving to buy a house 😂👍🏼
They get great gas milage, you can put kids in the back seat, 2 dogs in the trunk and camping gear.
