I have the black PS2 to HDMI adapter and it works without power from USB. I forgot to plug it in once and only realized after a few hours of playing games.
It works without power on some PS2 models, as a couple of PS2 revisions apparently can supply enough power through their AV ports to power the adapter. But I have also found that powering the adapter can help with resolution switching. For some reason I used to have issues changing to progressive, as the adapter would blank out, but when powered it would have less issues. Weird enough, plugging it into a "cold" (powerless) USB charger would reset/blank the picture for some reason.

PS2 to HDMI is far better when it comes to output, I dont like the pound cable's stretching the image to 16:9, it looks very ugly and not to mention its contrast is on the dark side. For the PS2 to HDMI, it actually plays just fine with PS1 games, its just that your display must support 240p in HDMI, and majority of the TVs out there supports at minimum 480i some of the tv (and majority of HDMI PC monitors) doesnt support 480i at all so this PS2 to HDMI may not work on their tvs/monitor at all. So for maximum compatibility, the PS1 and PS2 to HDMI adapter will work on any modern TVs as well as the Pound PS2 HDMI cable. Pound cable outputs signal much better than the yellow adapter so you should get the pound cable instead.
I got a cheap China version and the picture quality looked better but funny thing is that whether or not the adapter was plugged into the usb for power or not it had the same picture quality and ideas what’s going on ?
i have the feeling PS2 games may have some aspect ratio problems sometimes. Checking out the PS2 HDMI Dongle with Outrun 2006, the speedometer seem a little squished vertically, looking a little oval-shaped. I seem to see the same thing on my PS2, but i'm using a regular Component cable, but that depend on the games it seem. It makes me wonder if the developers did the right aspect ratio on the game to begin with. Because on XBox, it's the same thing, i use a HDMI adapter (ElectronShepherd's XBox2HDMI) that doesn't mess with the aspect ratio at all, yet in some games, shapes that are supposed to be perfect circles look like ovals, for example, on XBox, Need for Speed Underground 2 have a slight aspect ratio problem, while with Need for Speed Most Wanted, the aspect ratio is just fine. So if the aspect ratio isn't right, and the adapter is known to not mess with it at all, then the problem is most likely the game itself.
I have PS2 TO HDMI and ps2 slim and regular Full HD tv. Somehow when I'll set up 1080i 60hz with/without interlaced output signal is waaaay worst than 576i 60 hz. It's depends of the cable or what?
I think the more question what signal does it use. If it's using RGB signal scaling it up to 1080 or does it upscale with the use of the component signal.
Somehow, my elgato hd60s can read the PS2toHDMI dongle, but the audio became squeeky and high pitched and glitchy. Anyone has a solution for this? the only solutions I found was when I played in in Progressive scan but not all games have that
Possibly due to the game output resolution. Most PS1 games and some PS2 games used a resolution called 240p, which was never an officially known or acknowledged video signal outside of the games industry, and it just happened to work perfectly with old CRT TVs. When you convert that to a digital format, most converters mishandle it, but some simply blank out. If the converter successfully passes 240p correctly (some can also pass it incorrectly as 480i), it also takes the display to either fail with it or display it in some fashion (either correctly or incorrectly).
Man tell please, second dongle (PS2 only) has HDMI input and jack 3.5 mm input. If I link my TV only with HDMI but not with that jack 3.5 mm, will I be able to hear sound? Or 3.5mm is required to link with TV too?

The PS2 dongle seems to have the best quality, but the Pound cable seems to be more smooth, like higher fps, or less jutter. Is that accurate, or is it a result of recording/capture device? (Or perhaps just something wrong with me😂).
I would put it on the recording, as the capture card might use some odd or non optimal way to deinterlace a game picture which occasionally halves the framerate, such as decombing, or a hybrid solution that switches between several different methods (and when decombing is used, you see those framerate drops or hitches). I don't think there would be other sensible explanations for the framerate fluctuations. If anything, PS2 to HDMI should have less fluctuation, because it's a much simpler device than Pound.
my ps2 to hdmi looks like crap, is not the same the one you own, mine looks like the yellow, and works with ps1 so I believe is a version when they transition from the black to yellow.
@@azealiasbanx492 i thought maybe it was the PS2 but i just got another one it has the same issue. Both of mine are slims, one NTSC and one PAL with Mars chip. PS3 is another option, no lines, but the upscaler reeeally washes the image out for me.
I think the cheap PS2 dongle looks the best. If I already have component cables is it worth buying the dongle? Does it make any difference at all? Cheers!
@@cloudycolacorp lol :D I see that you don’t get the idea of what this device does. It takes analog signal from console and converts it to digital, hdmi signal. Tv does makes post processing of the signal but it does not convert it anymore so it depends what this little dongle does. If it cuts out information about signal or colors then your TV can’t make any magic and add details that are already missed in convertion process.
Damn, I wanted to use it for my PS1, so I guess I'll go with the Pound cable even though I don't like that pink skin color on your DOA2 gameplay. But, I don't want to spend a lot of money for hdmi solutions, hence I'm going the "cheap" route. Is there something better than the Pound that offers compatibility for both PS1 and PS2 and is hdmi?
First off you are using 2 converters and 1 upscaler (Pound) the converters are taking analog through component/RGB (Kaiko adapter) to 240i/P to 480i(Most ps2 games are in this format) /480p and switching them to digital Hdmi 240i/P to 480i/p. Whereas the pound is Upscaler that uses the Sh*tiest signal "Composite"🤢 and upscales it to 720p through hdmi. The choice is if your TV or monitor which in most cases these days the monitor will recognize 240i/P for PS1 games and 480i/P for ps2 games be it through the second only to hdmi, Component cables or the Sh*tiest signal Composite stretched to 720p if you go with pound. Also MClassic will not recognize/do anything with Interlaced signals like most common ps2 480i games.
@@deale- to summarize what I said the pound converter is not just for PS2 but also PS1 games. Now PS1 Games are only 240i to 240p which is why Pound uses the shittiest conversion cable being Composite. Now if you only care about playing PS2 games get the generic but I would also advise getting a "Free Mcboot" hack memory card that let's you change resolutions up to 1080i. Sorry for late response just now seeing it.
More the question what kind of signal you like to see in the end. I love that 9 dollar dongle with the component signal to hdmi. Maybe somebody else prefure the upscaled RGB signal with the Pound Cables. 😄

I think the 3.5mm is meant for headphones and such, if you wanted to use something like that. HDMI will carry sound easily to the TV.
You will be able to hear sound, yes, noo need for additional 3.5mm jack.
7:15 what game is that one?
That is outun 👌😃

The PS2 dongle seems to have the best quality, but the Pound cable seems to be more smooth, like higher fps, or less jutter. Is that accurate, or is it a result of recording/capture device? (Or perhaps just something wrong with me😂).
Yeah did noticed something like that to 😄
I can't show any FPS only did notice pound looks more smooth.
First keep up the vids they good
Thanks.. 🙌
Getting a Crtv is probably the best
It's possible only with component cable or cheap dongle doesn't look to bad on a small lcd tv 😲
@@WickedGamerCollector Great video....so what do you recommend for ps2 the Kiako?

ps2 hdmi cable looks alot more sharper than the rest i think
I use the PS2 to HDMI adapter and I get these diagonal lines across the screen on all games. Anyone know what it is?
SAME
@@azealiasbanx492 YEAH? finally someone! Any idea what it is??
@@busyak I have no idea I’ve tried component cables and the pound link cable everything looks shitty!!
@@azealiasbanx492 i thought maybe it was the PS2 but i just got another one it has the same issue. Both of mine are slims, one NTSC and one PAL with Mars chip. PS3 is another option, no lines, but the upscaler reeeally washes the image out for me.
@@busyak it’s like I can’t win for losing. I have the fat ps2 and everything is either grainy or the the lines are everywhere.
I have the Black model and is great
Just shame RGB is not supported 😋
The Kaico one gave my HDMI a death grip and came out of it's casing, cheap af build quality.
PS1+PS2 to HDMI basically is composite to HDMI converter that why the display really bad...cmiiw
somes people speak me to use "Ossc"(Open Source Scan Converter) with or instead (don't remember) hdmi converter. Can someone explamin it to me ?
Yes you can use that still want to make a review of mine.
These are just plug and play solutions.
No hassle.. plug it in and play ! 👍
In US you should not set to RGB unless that adapter uses scart to hdmi internetaly
This is awesome, could you do the same perhaps for GameCube if it hasn't been done before?
Game Cube there are so far I know only 2 options with 1 good one 🤣
Does anyone know which is compatible with a 90k?
I think the cheap PS2 dongle looks the best. If I already have component cables is it worth buying the dongle? Does it make any difference at all? Cheers!
@@cloudycolacorp you will, those upscalers degrade color and blacks during signal conversion.
PS2 to HDMI with mClassic dongle you'r done
How do you get the ps2 to hdmi upscaled to 480p?
Depends of the game like Outrun 2.
Google for 480p Game Support List
Use FreeMcBoot and use the utility GSM to render most games very well in 480p
Bro, the PS2 to HDMI works on Slim versión? Or Super Slim?

This answers your question ?

@@WickedGamerCollector yes bro, sorry, greetings from México City!!!!
Bestaat er geen full RGB scart naar HDMI?
Je zou eventueel dit kunnen gebruiken.

Need from Component to HDMI Cable Portta and POUND HDMI will display 16:9 Full Widescreen PS2 Fat
What did you just write?
In English which one do you recommend?
@@deale- to summarize what I said the pound converter is not just for PS2 but also PS1 games. Now PS1 Games are only 240i to 240p which is why Pound uses the shittiest conversion cable being Composite. Now if you only care about playing PS2 games get the generic but I would also advise getting a "Free Mcboot" hack memory card that let's you change resolutions up to 1080i. Sorry for late response just now seeing it.
What's the best?? KAICO, POUND, HDMI TO PS2, HYPERKIN? from best to worse
More the question what kind of signal you like to see in the end.
I love that 9 dollar dongle with the component signal to hdmi.
Maybe somebody else prefure the upscaled RGB signal with the Pound Cables.
😄
@@WickedGamerCollector im in search of best picture quality, but i can spend not more of 40$.. So, picture quality and less and good compatibility
Workon ps1 game?
The yellow adapter will work with ps1, ps2, DVDs,so for easy solution recommend that adapter as i use it myself as solution of choice.

Going to make the 2022 video edition soon.
