You guys don't know much about basketball strategy do you? Rondo was the worst outside shooter on this team by far. It was Kobe's job to sag way off of him and bait him into shooting outside shots. If Rondo passed, Kobe was supposed to double whoever the ball went to. This was the team strategy.
Ballislife Next up coming it’s not about you it’s about the offensive player. Your left hand is aligned with the offensive players right hand so it’s easier to block their shot. If you try to block a right handed shot with your right hand you’ll have to reach across your body vs with the left you can just put your hand up it’s pretty simple tbh
This was one of the most competitive and intense series ever and as a Lakers fan, the best championship win. I remember going to that parade and how joyful everyone was.

Kobe guarding Rondo, stalking him and having him to do more and think more can effect the whole celtics off ended this was very smart from Phil and Kobe. it payed off you could Tell the difference from the 2008 and 2010 finals play between the two teams. Are you seriously putting Rondo on Magic's level. Wow just wow. The only reason they put him on Rondo at times was to give different looks on Pierce and Allen, and having Kobe as a double teamer threw them off. Easy to double team off a guy who isn't a scorer or shooter.

Very late reply but two entirely different situations that have nothing in common imo. Pippen on Magic: Bulls wanted an elite on ball defender to slow Magic down but also needed to save MJ for the offensive end Bryant on Rondo: Lakers wanted their smartest help defender on Rondo. Pippen's responsibility was to slow Magic down. Kobe's responsibility was to encourage Rondo to shoot by playing more of a roamer defender.
Kobe defense is not talked about enough in this series. He averaged 29/8/4 but he see playing nice ass on ball defense & help defense along with getting rebounds
It amazing me how a guy that can’t shot make it the nba and have a long career. I see guys in the streets that can shot the ball better than rondo but they don’t have the size or athleticism of rondo. Size>skills in the NBA.
lol this is a big time flop, KG didnt even extend his hand, the worst part is that stupid ref calling an offensive foul at that juncture of the game. If thats a foul, then Fisher should have been whistled every possession in the Lakers end because he basically mauled Allen and other Celtics players. Officiating in this series heavily favoured the Lakers, game 7 was a disaster....
