I love watching these 3 tour videos because it makes me so happy to see you have your own room! I just watch them again when I need an idea, too. The only plastic I have is DT blush pink that replaced something ugly in this room I live in, or it's glass or decorative floral paper type boxes.
Inventory is on my to-do list because some pretty things can't have utilitarian labels. The hardest part was deciding on the cohesive "look" that would work with so many different types of containers. I've decided on the look of an envelope with a paper sticking out, tipped sideways for length to write. Instead of storage contents which are multiple in larger boxes that do extend to the ceiling, (I agree that vertical is everyone's best friend.) I'm going to write creative girl names as the content names.
This means breaking out the boxes, taking pictures, and making an inventory book, by geographic view. Like the shelves in one section have a pic used as a diagram, behind pics of product and eventually I'll write up a list that can be alphabetized for the double view of what (trying to find and idea inspiration) and the visual of where. It only took 10 years or more to come up with the idea. The envelope method came to me with a printable I purchased.
(My kitchen plastic only zips. I rid all my plastic everything. Was not easy knowing I earned my Modular Mates as a sales consultant, but the fam doesn't keep plastic out of the microwave so it's my beloved Canning Jars in all sizes, Pyrex, or CorningWare. If I had it my way, I would never have a one time use anything in my kitchen. I am collecting some really sweet reusable zipper bags in the shape of canning jars, thanks to Ross! I'm afraid to walk into a Home Goods.)
I really enjoy craft rooms full of inexpensive creativity and not like a mass of built-in cabinetry and countertops or 99% IKEA unless its for our friends over the pond with limited choices/access.
I did some research this afternoon since I just found out by whim that we have a close Lidl, for King Dollar and.99 and under. I didn't find either, but I did find 2 "dollar stores" that I didn't know existed close to each other and just the next city over. 1 is called .98 and I can't remember the other.
It amazes me to hear people talk about the low prices and discount color sticker days, like I grew up with in Cali. I have a Goodwill less than a mile from my house and they seem to forget that the things they sell were given to them. Its unusual Goodwill pricing compared to other places and I don't live in an expensive area. I've walked away from the most ridiculous prices. I saw the cutest porcelain owl that I would have easily thrown into happy mail to a collector, but they wanted $3.99 for it. The prices really depend on whose pricing. There is no standard. They have some of my books so frequently, that I'm considering a destash of books for space, that I can go buy when I'm ready to read them. I just found out that they have a bajillion books that they don't have room to put out. I finally caved and donated my encyclopedias from the 80s and then learned about lapbooks a week later. My GW trashes encyclopedias and that hurt even more. At that rate, I should have cut off the covers and trashed contents. But I would have gone through the guts and saved a ton. It took years to donate them and I did do it under duress.
Back to your videos.. and to DT tomorrow for more cutting mats.
    ♡~Heidi

New subscriber off these craft room tour videos. Using the flimsy curtain rods for the washi shelves blew my mind! I was about to donate those to Goodwill/Salvation Army. You have shown soooooo many new ways to use old stuff that I am inspired to revamp my craft corner plans. Been collecting card-making, watercolor and other crafty gear the last few months. My spare bedroom now looks like a craft hurricane hit it! These videos gave me a TON of ideas so I dont have to go out and buy storage now! Blessings to you...

I believe they are about to reissue that collection this year as one of their all in one collection packs. I seen a preview of what they were putting out this year somewhere. You might want to go to their website and check. The reason I remembered it was that I had purchased some new old stock from a store that was going out of business. And there were several sheets of that collection in it. So when I saw it was coming back, I was thinking this would be great to get the entire collection now. I think I had 10 pages of it, but it was only 3 sheets of the collection in multi quantities. So now if I can get the reissued collection pack, I'll now be able to make something with the set.

Im so happy to know you guys save on using plastic as much as possible... My children and I will not use a grocery bag in a store if its just a few things we can carry we reuse things all the time.. We are huge on the story of the whales that are extremely endangered... Its sp great to see people care and just small things we do still helps massively.

    • @jaditelady173mary4
      @jaditelady173mary4 6 ปีที่แล้ว

I feel guilty of even throwing away a straw after seeing them lodged in turtles etc. Japan has outlawed plastic straws and they now have metal straws that you can wash and reuse or paper ones. My community has a recycling program, but even so I wonder when things get sorted what gets thrown out that's deemed unrecyclable. I am only 1 person in my household, but I still try to repurpose things as much as possible. I just wish they would take Styrofoam. I have a ton of it from packaging. I dare not put it in the regular garbage, because I know it's headed for the landfill. And I know it won't break down. So I wish they would do some recycling for that. I'm just holding on to it and use it for old jobs.

I'm loving your CRAFT space in your new home. I've followed you for years and made some of your DIY organization items. My favorite was the lazy Susan holder out of cake pans. I'm curious, do you scrapbook your kids stuff through the years? I know you've always been a planner person and now I see your into the junk journaling thing. But I was hoping you would do some scrapbooks of your kids too or maybe special events...or maybe how your new home looked when you first bought it....And improvements you made through the years. I did that when I bought my first home that was over 100 yrs old. It was good to have when I went to sell it. I left it out on the counter for people to go through. And I think it helped me to get a higher price when I sold my home. Just some thoughts. I wish I was lucky enough to gave an IKEA near me. But anyhoo....your space is fantasticly organized as usual. I too am visual....my favorite space in your room is all your inks & spray area. I love those "Brillance" dew drop inks. They add a beautiful shimmer to projects. I have a hard time finding the different colors in them. I used to see those cassette tape holders at garage sales all the time. Now that I've been looking for one, they've disappeared....or snatched up by all the other crafters for their ink storage. Well I'm off to watch the final part of your room tour. Good to see things going well for you and your family.

When I had littles it was the bathroom. I'd put out a special box in the long hallway of locked doors to keep them out of clean rooms, of things they could only do while I was in there and then hide. I had another basket or box that they could only have on the kitchen floor when the phone rang because we ran 2 direct sales businesses.

That’s exactly what drives me crazy about the diy aspect of it. As far as the shop now, I’ve started selling vintage decor and that’s going good. It’s easier to talk about flaws and people know what they’re getting. Buy it or don’t someone will love it. 🖤

@@coupontoprovide I'm like you.. I love Vintage 💕 but don't have much to work with! Hard to find old books in my area or any of that kind of stuff and if I do have to pay way too much!! When I lived down south in Ga things were much cheaper and easier to find.

Hi my name is Mary and I’m new to crafting so I finally have the time to start crafting. I just started finally following several people but I really enjoy the way you express yourself anyway I got a Cricut Maker for Mother’s Day and I’ve been working on my craft room and buying supplies so I’m very eager to receive and start scrapbooking and making my own planners and journals. I was wondering if you sell me a junk journal, I promise not to criticize or steal your ideas I would just love to own something made by you. If you are agreeable I love love love lace and soft colors like creams, white, soft pinks...l would totally understand if you are not comfortable with selling me one of your products and that would be totally ok with me. Please let me know what you think about the matter,Thank you ...your new fan Mary B

Your "telegraph pics" are called stereopticon slides that you view in a stereopticon.

Those "double" pictures are stereoscopic images. The viewer is called a stereoscope. They were the ViewMasters of their day.

They were called the Holmes Stereoscope. Introduced in the 1800s, they were reproduced in the 1970s.
