My Mother's step-father(my grandfather) was from Grand Bank......he was well known and respected in the town as he was a Brigadier in the Salvation Army church.........sadly I have never been there ever..........a place I intend to visit for sure........he has been passed now for almost 30yrs............probably no one left in GB that have heard of him.......how generations pass............Good one Mark......you do a great job of bringing your past to the future for your viewer......well done buddy.
I frigging love your videos, huge fan. I’m from GB and live here now. This video choked me up and gave me cold shivers. I wish I knew you were here. Woulda loved to meet you and thank you for your videos, all of them. Keep doing you, Mark. Cheers!
Wow thank you. I'll be back very soon, I really love Grand Bank. Send me an email if you'd like, mark@cometonl.com. I'll let you know when I make my way back down!
I really liked making this one. Pretty sure I'll be putting together more like this so if you enjoyed this one, I hope you'll enjoy the next ones too my friend!
Thank You, Mark! Sounds like a great memory! That’s one thing about growing up in NL…you meet people from all over the province…I remember childhood friends from St. Lawrence, Burin and St. Mary’s!
I met a few very nice kids from Grand Bank on this trip. We lost touch but I still remember a few of their names. I tried looking them up over the years but no luck. Still though, it is very nice to think about them from time to time.
@@mark_royle_newfoundland Yes sir. I set up cornerboy years ago. Didn't think I would ever use it. If I didn't say it before, 2 brothers left Job's Cove in the 1890s. One to Grand Bank and one to Molliers. Met one from Grand Bank a few years ago
That's right, I was barely old enough to understand what was going on but I remember it. The game was in 1985, in advance of the 86 World Cup. Pretty huge deal for that to take place here!
I created a playlist of videos from the big road trip I was on when I shot this video 👉🏼 th-cam.com/play/PLO2VEdL8sa-D182_y1l0ANnilacGT4Q8D.html

If memory is still in working order, 1986 Mexico World Cup, final qualifying game was played in St. John's.
I was a ball boy at that game. Canada vs Honduras.

@@thegrandbankrovers8543 awesome!
Legend has it the Honduran fans travelled to St. John, NB by mistake. 😂😂😂
No legend, a few did that. Good thing too because the ones that did make it to KGV that day were loud and proud.
